Apparently a few other clubs were after him. Does anyone know which ones?
It doesn't matter!
Isn't it just a bit of a cliche that you beat off competition. Sometimes you do, sometimes its a bit of PR. I doubt we'll really ever know if anyone else made a serious effort to get him.
I know it doesn't matter, it's interesting though. Although "it doesn't matter was a song by the Rock!

After the fuss PL made about Kuman talking about Vlaar, he's not going to speak about a player who isn't yet signed 100 % up is he?
Ya'll mother ******* need to chill!
Agreed but its a whole lot different in the fact that Elche have given us permission to speak to him rather than us talking about some one else's player.
It's probably to do with there's nothing really to elaborate on, it's seems hard enough let alone saying the wrong thing to piss off his agents or third parties.

Rather Campbell or a long shot at Sanogo on loan than Gnabry!!
Good talent to be honest but I haven't seen enough of him myself. Not sure he would be capable of playing in and out. Besides, he should go to the championship first or we might as well use one of our own.Gnabry on loan is the latest Twitter guff apparently.
I would rather bring Heskey back than go for Sanago tbfh.
It could be just his gangly physique but he looks awful and amazed how Wenger seems to rate him so much more than Campbell.

I've heard it all now.Westwoods performance at Newcastle away was one of our best performances by a player all season
If he could do that week in week out he'd be a Man city player by now
He's no Gareth Barry but he's as close to it as we are currently going to get
That was the game he had to go off and we fell apart wasn't it?
Its possible we would have fell apart with him I the pitch anyway but it did edge towards showing how important he is sometimes for us.

Wages have supposedly been an issue in the past.

I may have finally flipped but I'd like to see what Delph and Westwood can do with someone like Sanchez behind them, maybe they could be our Xavi and Iniesta. Obviously that is an extreme example but I think both could thrive with the security of someone else with them in the middle.
Westwood hasn't been able to show much in an attacking sense but noticed him make some good runs towards he end of last season despite us playing so bad.

And there is the reason nothing has been sorted yet. Whether its a good understanding of the situation or taking advantage, the club know Jack is very unlikely to be making exit plans due to not being offered anything. So they don't see it as an immediate problem.
No mate. If its not obvious then of course a top four club would take jack on if they could. But a lot of agents know the deal with us as a family. They know were villa through and through and that's not looking any different.
Are the family concerned? Is jack worried? Why do you think nothing has been discussed yet?
Nope and nope.Kev has he got an agent yet? Have we started talks with him?
It isn't necessarily a bad thing for Jack anyway and could easily work to his advantage because if he gets to impress at all at first team level he will be able to get himself a much better terms than if he signed earlier in the year.

I've seen the plans and they're available on line. HS2 cuts a very small corner off Bodymoor heath. A plot no bigger than a tennis court. They'll barely notice it happening.
You must play on some bloody big tennis courts.
Looking on my phone but that looks like a different map to what I have seen online, well the hs2 line is routed slightly different cutting through less of the field.

While being the biggest club on the region has its potential advantages but having Man Utd as local competition increases rivalry and competition whether this was in their mind I have no idea but it's going to help both clubs and Manchester as a city from now on.
If we got an owner that pumped in millions, it would only be league rivalry that we could achieve as high standard local rivalry is very unlikely.

Ben Arfa used to be great. He might not be so good with his new belly.
While on his day he's a great player, but his day was usually just against us and not much more. Not to mention he's the last sort of character we need at the moment.

God why do people keep putting nzogbia as a wing back?
On the right as well, I can understand him attacking on the right but he'd be an awful right wing back.

Thinking about these theories regarding us already being bought but no announcement until September; there could be some truth in this.
I recall Villa being held to ransom on transfers because other clubs knew of Lerner's intent to spend big, hence paying £8m for the likes of Reo-Coker. Perhaps Lerner has passed this information on to a new owner and the new guy has decided to throw in a couple of cheap signings in order to fill the squad whilst making us look like paupers at the same time. Then, Lerner suddenly pops up over here with the intent of getting more involved due to Faulkner's departure, and then we start doing some more serious deals for decent money without being asked to pay over the odds.
It's a very big "what if" but you never know.
While I try to stay optimistic, worryingly if it's true Hutton's move got blocked, it's either a massive over the top cover up to hide any deal already In place, we don't want to sell any player good or otherwise to our neighbours, the new owners are showing signs of madness and rate Hutton or we need all the help we can get/keep hold of.

I'm not too convinced but I wouldn't say its because the situation the clubs in. I can't say I'm convinced senderos or Richardson are that much better than what we have or if Cole is capable of performing enough at premier league level still.
I'm concerned we're just creating more squad issues for whoever eventually buys the club to sort out.
It is quite possible but it's either this or nothing as it stands, so at least something is being done.

Why did you sigh? Bad as they were, Fulham fans are gutted at the news. He's a good player.Like many I sighed when I heard the news.
Having said that again like many have said, that its an improvement to what we've got. It's not a nice position to be in but it's about as good as it gets until Lerner sells. I'll take any improvement to the squad at the moment, it could be worse.
What's upset you? Im completely baffled by the reaction to this one.
That was a positive post compared to a hell of a lot of this topic/forum. I'd say that the majority of Villa fans first thoughts weren't that positive to the transfer but then may have changed a little when they think about it more.
Its a positive transfer in the circumstances but come on we all want to be back competing for good players that the top half of the table are looking at rather than the bottom. Hopefully it will happen again, maybe not but we are where we are and it is an improvement.

If there really isn't any interest currently then something like this could be the short term answer. It's got to be better than being stuck with Lerner.
Of course it will all depend on who is involved and any purchase price. By the sounds of it, its unlikely they'll be able to push us on that far but would give more time to find the another buyer.
I could be wrong but I guess this is the intention, which has its bad points as this will mean there wouldn't be that much money for transfers as they will be looking to sell on at a profit.
It could all well be an ego thing and nothing will come from it at all.
Which is worse left with Lerner with no interest, or with whatever people's opinions of him and whatever limitations there would be, someone who has the best intentions for the club?

Could be a better bet than Lowton, Clark or Baker in defense. At least he's a tryer?Still want to see him given a full shot at the RB spot...since Lambert's been here, the few chances Herd has gotten when fit have been at CB, and it is quite clear that is not his position. Granted I have only seen him play RB just once, but in that match against Wolves he was by far MOTM, so with our threadbare squad, it has to be worth a shot.
Not trying isn't something you can fault Baker at, he gives his all, he's just far too basic for a quality premier league Centre back.

Yet now and article he was involved with was published stating that the American billionaire in question has actually been in talks for weeks?
Moments later when people started calling him out on it.I think there really might be something in this Joshua Harris link mainly based on this tweet from Matt Law back on the 14th May:
https://twitter.com/Matt_Law_DT/status/466585979462365184
@Preston76 is Michael Preston. Michael is the Director of Public Relations for Philadelphia 76ers who are owned by Joshua Harris & David S Blitzer amongst others.
This would tie in with the claims in the media that talks have been ongoing for a number of weeks.
Matt Law @Matt_Law_DT · May 14
lot of people will be disappointed if they base rumours on my Twitter movements.
Was Matt Law just covering his tracks with this follow up tweet?
Well it certainly wasn't a straight up denial. Very surprised everyone took it at the time to be so, considering how usually any statement can be picked apart however you want to read it. Lambert, Lerner, Joe Cole and probably others have all said things that if you want to believe you'll see something in what they say.

Can someone make up some rumours please? Bit quiet in here.. Would be nice if the club came out and said what stage we are in in the selling process.
Not a rumour though. But as I said here before, Khalid Al-Baltan (Al-Shabab FC former president) is interested in buying Aston Villa, He might be negotiating too. But I'm not sure how far he have gone with that.
The rumour about that was right, He is interested.

Right, now for thetrees or somebody else to check if Mr Rich's plane has been to Milan recently
-
Probably nothing but Moyes was around 5 or 6/1 the other day : http://www.oddschecker.com/football/football-specials/aston-villa/next-permanent-manager
I think that is because newcastle were favourites for Moyes - but they have ruled out sacking pardew -
If it is Robert Rich - Aston Villa looks an enormous step up from his other sports clubs ?
Wouldn't really want someone who inherited Daddies fortune been there and done that.
Probably rules out a fair few billionaires, they're not all self made

I dreamt Ellison bought us last night.. Haha
I rarely remember dreams but dreamt the previous night that Ellison bought us.

Thought about re wording it but kept it. To be fair Lambert has been called a rocket polisher by a few people at Villa Park
