I‘m simply amazed that people have accepted this Bruce-Ball shit as a route to promotion.

I agree with you.
But such a balanced view is a rarity here these days.
what‘s the point of a balanced view?
Why not just get straight to the point of who the F***s fault it all is?
He who is the boss is in charge of things. Get things under control, make the right decisions, lead as an example and from the front. Then we might get somewhere. If the boss F*** things up he has to fall on his sword.

But yeah, he should be able to see into the future as well as manage a football team
And before you say 'plan for it', we don't have that luxury due to FFP and other issues, if teams lose key players unless they're one of the top 4 it's highly likely that they'll be relatively irreplaceable.
As it is we've lost many key players this season, I wonder how much better we'd be doing if the likes of Green, Grealish, Kodjia and latterly Terry had been fit all season.
You havent got a leg to stand on.
Not blowing the 12mill on a player he was never going to understand would have meant keeping Baker, which could have meant not signing Samba, which would have freed up wages and budget for a different player, Maybe a LB or a striker.
But no
One makes a decision - goes wrong - find an excuse
Simple - make the right decisions and then you dont need excuses

Do you need to bring your weird and sad fetish into every topic you post in? You need to get outside a bit more as your boring the arse of most here. I’m not a massive Bruce fan but I have a life outside of villa so it doesn’t define me. Let it go man.
Ignore button would save you loads of time

Why ? - surely the facts to date are a good measure - you seem to want to factor in poor results from the next 4 games which we haven't haven't yet played. Personally I think we will beat Shef U and Bristol City
good luck with that

As always its up to us to get back on the front foot and pick some points up in a crucial period. We just need Bruce to step up and let us play in a way we all know we can.

We could lose every game between now and the 2nd and still not be out of contention.
We beat who we had to beat, how was it a false position?
meaning
last 7 games - 2 pts from a possible 21
we‘d drop places relative to at least 8 pts that teams below us would gain on us

Surley that depends on who we appoint.
Lets say we appoint Dean Smith - and he doesn't get us promoted and does average - Going into 2018/19 with Dean Smith doesn't represent a brave new world for me - so by making a hasty appointment now we could effectively write off next season as well.
Give it until the end of the season then we have a larger pool of managers to choose from - more chance of getting it right going into 2018/19
More time to get it right v Bigger pool of candidates at a less attractive set of circumstances

23.12 SheffU H
26.12 Brentford a30.12 Boro a01.01 BristolC HThose next 4 games will be our season defining period. With the FACup game giving us a break from the league.I think DrT will have earmarked the 02.01.2018 as „sit down with Bruce“ time. It‘ll be either1 - what do you need on players?or2 - The SackIf we break it down, we can not afford to lose ground on SU, Boro & BCso 3 draws against direct opposition is the absolute minimum. However 3 pts from 9 would mean we would lose ground on them more than likely. Therefore we would have to win 1 of those 3 at least. (1x W 2x D = 5 from possible 9) Leaving us no choice but to beat Brentford (2x W & 2x D = 8pts from 4 - 2+ppg) or Draw at Worst (6pts from possible 12 2ppg)Anything less and we‘ll lose ground, only more pts would either maintain or gain ground. So targets of1- 3wins would keep Bruce in a job.2- 2wins 2draws too3- 2 defeats would mean 6pts from 12 (with 2wins) keeps him in the job too4- 5pts will be a squeeky bum total (even though that would have meant 7pts from the last 21 - surely a sackable return?)5- 4 pts gets him sacked as that would mean, we‘re out if the top 6 withP-7 W-1 D-3 L-3 = 6pts (from 21pts)So what are our chances of4 wins from 43 wins from 42 wins from 4 (+ 2draws preferable)or 1 win and 3draws ? -
Swansea‘s mistake‘s were
1 appointing Laudrup
2 sacking Monk
3 Not appointing B......
-
Well it will be very interesting now
1 - Will they approach Bruce?
2 - Who will they go for?
3 - IF they do appoint someone of either repute or a progressive style would that Manager have been interested in us, given the direct choice.
Swansea = Relegation candidates PL->Ch
over
Aston Villa = Promotion candidates Ch->PL
????????

I only see positive things possible with the removal of Bruce.
Both Short, medium & long term.

If we had a manager that got us passing the ball then Hogan and even Mccormack may find the form that got us to buy them.
That possibilty begs the questions
1 - is it worth that gamble alone? compensating Bruce with no budget to buy = effectively 2 „new players“ in Hogan and McC
2 - if a said someone could get half a tune out of those 2, what would he be able to get out of (more effectively than Bruce has)
Bree, RDL, Elmo, Snod, Lansbury Onomah, Hourihane, Grealish & O‘Hare?
Maybe Whelan & Jedi‘s levels could also improve

I do agree with you that those players could and should be playing with a more attacking mindset. My point is that you'd be asking too much of any manager to change much in terms of a style and make it successful in half a season. If you want to change Bruce now then I get it, but you're then looking at promotion more than likely next season. I do think that Bruce could get us up, but I do admit it wouldn't be pretty. However if we don't go up then I know he has to go. I also think that if we do go up, I wouldn't be apposed to bringing in a new manager straight away. It's harsh but it's been done before.
My point of changing now is two fold.
Yes, it‘s a BIG ask to change the way a team plays.
BUT!
With this squad of players, there has been signs that we can play football if and when we‘ve tried.
(I’ll start from the back)
1 - If we play out from the back with our MF having more movement off the ball we could pass and move a little better.
2 - If our MF is a little more mobile and creative the whole team could push up the field.
3 - playing players in their best positions and with more licence to „have a go“ be that carrying, pass and move, running on to balls or through channels.
Thats achievable through training and I believe we have the players with enough ability to have a good go.
However, my Major reason for thinking a change in approach would be possible in a short time is.
The players
I believe, SJ Chester Terry Jedi Snod Lansbury Hourihane Adomah Hogan Davis & Kodjia really would break their Balls to give it one almighty push for 2nd with the reward of PL football next season.
No-one would question Huttons desire and commitment, Taylors steady-eddy approach.
So a new manager would have more than a core to build a team with.
Add the ability of Grealish, Onomah, O’Hare, Green and maybe 1 or 2 new faces (ffp permitting) and the challenge should definately be more than enough motivation for players manager & fans.
Add the Home & AWAY support from Villa fans and no teams other than Wolves or a Warnock team would feel they can take us on.
If it all failed, we‘d have the comfort of a headstart for next season whoever stays or goes.
Keeping Bruce till he fails, then looking for a new manager sometime in April/May would mean starting completely from scratch next season.
Next season will be hard enough as it is as we‘ll be looking at 3 from the likes of Swansea, CP, WBA, Toon, Stoke, Bournemouth hoping to return to PL plus our own squad overhaul on a lesser budget

I don't think us being Aston villa makes much of a difference in the way things work in this league. We might be Aston Villa but we're Aston Villa in the championship with a Championship level squad. The teams you mention doing it the 'right' way all spent several seasons in the lower leagues. Saints in particular going all the way down before they climbed back up. The fact is that while many people don't like the way we play, it's either going up that way or not at all.
Even though I find that reality hard to accept, Money, DrT‘s Targets & ambitions.......etc
2 minutes ago, 7392craig said:Because none of the managers available to us will perform miracles or implement a style of football in half a season.
This is where I‘m inclined to disagree.
I believe a manager (regardless of record or reputation) with a more offensive, posession based approach would feel like a huge relief for a number of the players in our squad.
I can only imagine that the likes of
Elmo, Snod, Onomah, Lansbury, Hourihane Grealish, Adomah, Green, Hogan, Davis & Kodjia
would revel in an attacking game plan. We could even afford to have BOTH Jedi & Whelan as DM‘s letting the front 4 loose on the opposition.

Johnson has built his own team. Didn't happen over night. If you think he would come in and make us play the same way straight away then you will be disappointed.
You want Villa to play a certain way and get promoted (like we all do) then be prepared to spend a lot more years in the league. Because it won't happen this year I assure you. We either go up this year the Bruce way or we do not go up at all.
The sooner you accept that the better.
IMHO
I think you have been numbed into a very low sense of expenctancy and are prepared to accept the feeble excuses for such a diabolical style of football and the positions we have been in regarding the CH table this season (not mentioning 13th last season - when eventhough the target was initially Automatic promotion, then Playoffs as an accepted neccessary evil, to a 10th position to which we also failed)
The re-setting of the targets in a regressing trend is, for me, personally, unacceptable considering the level of spending and players we have in our squad.
Bruce‘s Sunderland tenure article anyone?
its happening all over again, here.
