  1. Fair enough. Sensible thing to do this time around as well. Probably should have done it sooner.
  2. The doctor saying I’ll be back before riding away on his scooter and Delboy calling him a Turbanater!! To be fair even Sikhs found that one funny.
  3. There was the odd episode . In one of the old ones a p**i shop being open all the time was mentioned. It was a more a sign of the times and terms that could be used rather than any malice.
  4. It is. But it’s always the fringe group of nutters that make the headlines. They are ruining it for everyone.
  5. It also increases the risk of people taking the law in to their own hands to protect these monuments. It’s a slippery slope. Im glad there’s still a lockdown.
  6. I get pulling down statues of slave traders. Totally understand it. But vandalising a statute that millions of British people see as a as national hero is going to create more divisions than it will unity. It needs to remain covered for quite a while I reckon.
  7. I don’t know man. I personally don’t care about his statue. But I can understand why a lot of people do. We’re talking millions of people. Oh well.
  8. Oh! A shame it had to come to that.
  9. He was clearly lacking fitness and not used to the pace of the league. When they restart he will be on par with the rest fitness wise. Be interesting to see how he does.
  10. Considering I don’t know what the top photo is. I’d say the second.
  11. I like him but he was hardly a great find. He had a high profile in Belgium.
  12. To be fair I haven’t heard anything about it being taken down. There probably hasn’t been any suggestion of it either.
  13. It’s classic comedy. Many people love it but it will definitely be considered racist in this day and age. I’m surprised it hasn’t been mentioned. Where did you grow up of you don’t mind me asking?
  14. What do you think of only fools and horses ?
  15. @Demitri_C your posts reminded me of this
  16. Probably when people have to go back to work.
  17. Maybe I am. I'm personally inspired by her and every South Asian in high profile positions. I like the fact my daughter can watch the news and see that brown faces running the country is a normal thing. They may be words removed but its a big change from when I was a kid. There wasn't that much inspiration out there. We took what we could. This isn't really about Priti though.
  18. Yeah I thought as much. Its getting a lot of publicity though. Maybe broadcasters should have been a bit discreet about it.
  19. I'd be interested to know what is driving the decisions for these shows to be removed. Is it knee jerk reactions to the whole BLM movement or have their been genuine calls for certain shows to be removed?
  20. Yep, inspiration at face value. What she is doing now she is in that position is a different story.
  21. Fair enough. Guess its up to them what they identify themselves as. Whether they are from India or not is not quite the point I was trying to make and I think we both know that. My point was they both had racial barriers to face. Priti has spoken about the racism she faced in school. It would not have been as easy for them to get where they are as it would have been for a 'White' person. Whatever your opinions are on both of them. They should be an inspiration to a lot BAME people in this country in my opinion.
  22. Can we call them brown? I know many people that have called them coconuts. I do know what you mean though. There may come a day where the colour of high profile positions are irrelevant. But as we were talking about people in the BAME community not getting opportunities I think it was relevant to bring up. Even though it’s the exception rather than the norm.
  23. It does. But it can also be a positive sign of barriers being broken down. Although for Indians the UK is way behind America and Canada in terms of top government positions. The situation is a lot more complex for the black community. For some reason Indians or ‘Asians’ seem to be getting a lot more opportunities. Apart from in football that is. That’s where Asians don’t seem to get a chance. Either that or they are just shit.
  24. Believe it or not I’ve actually heard this be said by people close to me. Along with the only way to make money is by crime (sounds better in a different language). It’s the wrong attitude to have and infuriates me when close mates have said it. I agree with your post though. Nobody can deny there are barriers, especially the higher up you go.
  25. This is true and hopefully this whole movement will signal the start of significant change. We all know it’s a going to a take a very long time though. As barriers come down people of all skin colours need to make sure the opportunities presented are taken.
