Gerrard really does speak well in interviews, big chance for Bailey and Sanson to have a good game today. Fair play to Sherwood for speaking so highly of us.

I’m with you on Bailey, but I’d rather it be Ings who he was partnered with.

He’s looked more than capable in his cameos. With Dougie being so poor lately, I can’t understand why he has been getting more game time. I imagine he’ll be off in the summer.

We need a change, the system with no wide players that aren’t full backs isn’t working. I know we’ve been there before, but until the transfer window I’d love to see us go 4-2-3-1. Put Ings up front, a three of Buendia, Coutinho and Bailey behind, the infamous double pivot behind them. Let’s use this squad.

We’re not great against physical sides, but you’ve got to fancy us for at least a point the way we’re playing.

Leeds have a wide player at CF, I worry for Bamford coming on second have simply because they’ll have an outlet up top. Not that James is playing badly for them.

Need another, Leeds are settling down a little. Their fans are shit aren’t they?

I’m optimistic for our turnaround, I fancy Coutinho to score. 2-0 Villa.

In the short term yes. I can’t imagine sanctions will be the only deterrent used if this continues. If he attacks a NATO country then surely the shit hits the fan?

I can’t imagine we’re the the only major country ‘compromised’ by Russian money. That’s a web that’s got a few tangled up in, the question is what to do about it, rather than just pointing it out.

Cash is a great defender but his crossing ability is no better than my Mrs’. It inevitably ends up going down the left making it easy to defend. Even when we play through the middle it ends up going wide, as long as the opposition CB’s play tight then they though where it’s going. I think we need lose the two 10’s until the fabled DM comes in too.

It’s not clear at all how he wants us to play. We’re back to the CB’s hitting it long again,  the middle 3 don’t seem to be part of the game other than being general bodies on the pitch. We’ve got Buendia and Coutinho amongst our front 3 yet they’re having to come back to fight for a touch. We seem to play like an away team every game.

McGinn, Doug not good enough again. No ideas from anybody today. I’m not sure how it is that Gerrard wants us to play yet.

I fully expected to see Sanson playing instead of Doug. I rate him but he needs to show up today, he can’t be as lethargic as he was last time out.

As bad as anything this season. It’s like they’ve only just met each other today.

Watkins really is having a nightmare.

Nobody really showing for the ball, no wonder it’s just being hoofed.
