Part of me is wondering why we signed Richardson if this was going to be an option.
-
---------------Guzan---------------
Hutton Vlaar Senderos Cissokho
--------------Sanchez-------------
--------Delph---Westwood-------
N'zogbia-----------------Grealish
-------------Weimann-------------
2-0 Villa
N'Zogbia out for Bacuna and that's my team.

This one gave me a giggle:
"He needs to go to a Villa, somewhere where his every move isn't obliterated by the fans and press."
So not Aston Villa then?

Would have loved it to have been Kagawa instead.

Only Gerrard left in the squad who taps players up, unless he rightfully retires. We might be OK.
He retired ages ago, you have any evidence of him tapping players up,and if he wanted to, do you not think he could just speak to a colleague such as Cissokho or Joe Cole, or maybe through the wonders of modern technology he could get Delph's phone number and text him?
it was a joke...

Blimey, the excuses have started up early this season!
(If some of our strikers aren't very good, what a shame we don't have someone with the power to buy and sell players to try to improve things. If there were such a person, he'd need a title - how about something like "manager"?)
and what a shame it would be if that "manager" has the two best strikers (that he signed) injured and didn't have the money to buy anyone else good enough.

As if that news passed me by. Wonderful.

I like Darren Bent, comes across a good bloke but he just isn't a particularly self motivated guy. Seems like when a team are doing well and confident, he fits in and can do his part, but when there's a struggle there's just not enough fire in his belly, he switches off. That's why he's never been a top player and now he's not as physically fit as he was there's just nothing about his game that is beneficial to us.
Also, I'm not sure Villa contributed much to his decline, we signed a world class striker and he was rightly moved out of the team to accommodate Benteke. We even loaned him out to a league rival instead of allowing him to rot in the reserves. How he performed there was up to him and unfortunately it didn't work out. He'd be wise to take a pay cut and play a few more seasons in the Championship and I wish him the best.

Massively disappointing, tactics were poor, why keep trying to put crosses in against a big league 1 physical team? Someone just needed to go on a run in the final third and could of scored plenty, even Hutton kept skimming past their players time and time again.
Defending was pretty bad, they had a fair few good chances where a half decent striker would of scored.
Bent was just terrible all round.
People need to get their heads out of grealish ass lol. Yes he did a few good runs and little turns but he lost the ball so many times and is so so weak.
His marking/defending was awful and did about 10 dives today was doing my head in!
A technically good footballer that takes risks? He is exactly what we need playing his first 90 minutes of competitive first team football.

Jack can make the difference, just needs to back himself.

just don't have the players to work that system. ridiculous

El Ahmadi better than Westwood?! I wonder how many times KEA has almost 'costed' us a game with a mistake in the past
-
I find it a little odd that some have considered him to look dangerous, I think considering how much time he's had on the ball he's looked the opposite of that. You might consider he's coming back from injury but then why is he playing? Bacuna has the same threat from set pieces and I think would offer more out on the right.
-
Not a world beater, but he's not terrible, take a day off. Needs a proper centre forward to play with and neither Gabby or Bent are it, but he is a useful player despite not having a brilliant game yesterday.
-
I don't get this kind of thinking. If Grealish is good enough he will play, end of.Salah would be a great loan signing but my only concern would be would it limit Graelish playing time?
The school of thought is that by limiting the opportunities that Grealish gets now will hinder his development at a crucial stage - playing someone who will go back to their parent club obviously only benefits us short term.
I'm not sure where I sit to be honest. I'm not adverse to the signing but if it meant one of the most promising talents we've seen for a while wasn't getting games because he's not quite as polished it would irk me a little.

You say no one is selling that idea and then say Hutton is convinced it wasn't his idea.
Those two things are in no way contradictory as they are referring to different ideas; the idea that Lambert had nothing to with the bomb squad and the idea that he masterminded the whole thing.
Hutton isn't going to moan at Lambert in the press the day after the game.
No but he also never had a bad word to say about him at any point, even when he looked certain to leave.
Even in private after a few drinks.
I just believe both Lerner and Lambert agreed to go along with it and now they've both seen sense.
I don't know whose idea it was either but I don't think there was any change of stance by Lambert on it. He'd have been happy to have Given, Ireland, Hutton etc. all available for selection IMO but agreed to their exclusion for financial reasons.
As soon as he was offered the use of them he took it as far as I can see. Maybe I'm wrong and he did change his mind, but throughout this Hutton seems to have given the impression that Lambert didn't exclude him/them.
Perhaps compounded by Given being happy to join Lamberts coaching staff for a while despite it being nothing he was contractually obliged to do.

Just to add a new one to the list of terrible commentator clichés, "the SAS... that's Suarez and Sturridge" and now "the SAS, that's Sterling and Sturridge" makes me throw up in my mouth. It sounds like something a 6-year-old invented, but these middle-aged men can't help themselves from saying it every game. Even worse is that it is never just 'SAS', they have to qualify by telling you it means Sterling and Sturridge, defeating the entire point of coming up with the embarrassing nickname in the first place.
Also, since conjunctions like 'and' aren't often used in acronyms, I prefer to call them The SS.

Thanks for the info Trent, do you have any impression on whether this is to replace any of our current players or he's coming in as another option?
