    Why is Weimann so awful

There was a lovely bit of footwork to give N'Zogbia a chance to shoot. he's made a few bad mistakes but he's not hiding away and he's the first forward available for the ball from midfield.

    I think that was Cleverley.

It is difficult to distinguish the two, I was pretty sure it was Andi but obviously may be wrong.

I said in the Lambert thread that I expected Okore to be the one rested. He's stilll on the road back from recovery and he is the future so why risk him having a setback.

N'Zog playing is another matter. Bacuna or Grealish should have come in for him.

Yep, bang on. Really annoying as N'Zogbia is a player who either plays awful, or plays great, there doesn't seem to be a middle ground. Weimann needs to get his shooting/assisting boots on today.

I see people say he's hot or cold a lot, but I'm struggling to think of one time he's been great for us. He either plays awful, or awfully frustrating.

  4. How on earth were our players not controlled? Gabby didn't angrily argue, he asked questions as a vice captain and then walked off the field. I didn't see any of the others getting bookings for arguing with the referee, except Guzan in an unrelated incident afterwards which was a harsh yellow to give anyway considering the behaviour of the Man Utd players 2 minutes earlier.

Having met quite a few footballers, I think the stats on the internet, official or wikipedia are 90% of the time 1-3 inches taller than the reality. Don't know why.

Benteke is legitimately 6'3, so Andi is about 5'10 if you look at them together.

Mate, thats way more than 4 inches difference there. I'd be amazing if Andi was anything over 5ft 9. Not that it really matters.

5'10 to 6'3 is 5 inches, but what you don't notice there is Benteke is floating on a cloud of excellence.

The only reason Young got to the ball first was because he jumped with two feet off the ground at the ball, which as we all know is classed as not being in control of the tackle, compared to Gabby going in with a solitary sidefoot, studs down. They were both 'flying in' at the same pace, the only difference was that Young carelessly threw himself at the ball. If it was anything to do with Gabby being late it should have been a yellow card, anyway.

I see it very much like the above-Young got to the ball first more by accident than anything else. He saw Gabby coming, didn't fancy it, and turned his back and bottled out of the challenge at the last second. He didn't play the ball away, it ricocheted off him. I remember always being told when playing footie as a kid to always commit to a tackle or you will be the one who get hurt. Young didn't commit, Gabby did, Young gets hurt....

100%, if he gets there first and takes the ball with his feet no one gets hurt. As we've just seen on MOTD Young said he made the foul, and Van Gaal said he has no idea why he was sent off.

  9. Gabby getting sent off bizarrely may have helped us because the crowd came to life.

Pragmatic question requiring a pragmatic non-extremist answer. Will he get the card rescinded?

You would think that if it is challenged, regardless of whether we think it was a yellow, a foul, no foul or a foul the other way, there was absolutely no violent conduct or dangerous play by the book (or literally any attempted tackle in the game is in some way dangerous) and it should be rescinded. Having said that, I have no idea why Paul Konchesky's was, when Benteke's wasn't and neither was Fabianski's after a handball by Sakho changed the course of the ball before his non-dangerous last man challenge.

...in summary, I really do not have a clue what the FA will decide to do. Perhaps they just flip a coin.

Having watched a couple of replays, that's up there with one of the most ludicrous sending offs I've ever seen.

    agree

its a chris herd vs west brom level of ridiculous

It's Oxlaide-Chamberlin Gibbs level of ridiculous

  11. attacking on the counter AND playing keep ball from mata, Rooney, RVP etc seems like a pretty great way to get something from the game. I'm glad they don't have Fellaini to rough us up at the back. Bar a few poor touches everyone's been great, please keep it up.
