  1. Another home mock-up *I know it's not THIS season's home top but just messing with Nike templates and the white trim gives it a real retro feel...

    villapsgdh.jpg

    I've just cum.

Looks a lot like a rugby kit with that collar though....not for me......

  2. What I love about this is if it was Everton and Moyes selling a player for 16million profit it would be seen as genius. But its all doom and gloom if its MON and Villa?

Lets be honest, (and Im a massive fan of James Milner) the guy was not great in the 1st half of his 1st season, then he came good 2nd half and had a really good season last season of course.

    But.....

Albeit in a poor team, he was out of his depth in the world cup. And while I was willing him on so much, I was expecting him to do something good more in hope than anything else.

£28milllion - Theyve clearly got more money than sense!!

Lets give credit to MON and how hes brought Jimmy (who also deserves some credit) on, and I see no reason why he cant do it with other players.

I wouldnt count out a huge season from Ash, Gabby and DJ - because I think them not going to the world cup is a blessing in disguise. That was an England team not to be in!!!!

    If its true -

    Good Luck to James Milner

SLOW CLAP TO YOU MY FRIEND!

I'm almost certainly having a severe 'blonde' moment but who the feck is DJ? (as in "Ash, Gabby and DJ")

  3. Stop going?

Haha... we go and sign some really class players and you'd stop going?

Come on, apart from maybe 10 clubs in the whole of the English footballing league, we're just as bad as Man.City. It's not as if we're some Division 2 club who are skint and not spending any money. We've spent an absolute fortune as it is, we're doing exactly what Man.City are doing but on a lesser scale. Chucking money at it.

    It's completely different PieFacE.

Sorry Rob but I think you're badly and sadly deluded if you think we're that much different to City ultimately.

There's a lot of this going round at the moment and it smacks of people finding nothing other than the chance to try and take the moral high ground as they've nothing else to use. None of us are happy that Milner, and Barry will have gone to City, none of us like the fact that a shit club like them are all of a sudden mixing it with Europe's elite in the transfer market, none of us like Manchester City.

But you don't hear us resorting to ridiculous claims in order to try and make ourselves feel a bit better about it all. Accept it and move on.

  4. All those saying that they do not want Villa to have the mega millions...

i'm not sure any sensible person who wants us to be successful would be saying that trickie.

Well done, you have more money than anyone else :hooray: :?

    I don't believe you.

I do not believe for one second that whether we won the league through true grit and determination or through throwing £500M at it that the likes of you or anyone else on here wouldn't be wetting their pants through excitement and sheer unadulterated joy.

It really paints us in a bad light this many people spouting this kind of crap. You win the league because you have the best team that year, end of discussion.

  5. The window has been open 8 hours and 40 mins now, why hasn't O'Neill signed anyone yet???? :)
8 hours 52. This is getting ridiculous.

Well, Martin was surprised to find out, after defeat to West Ham that we did use least ammount of players last season, in fact that's an hattrick. But Martin won't think that losing tough away match yesterday at st.James Park was due to any other fact than, that you just can't beat recently promoted teams at their home starter.

But we will be looking to bolster our squad before end of the month, hopely before Everton defeat at 28th, and it's not only up to MON, the big clubs have to got their time first, we are looking to things.

    What?

  6. I would rather have Graham Dorrans - he has his whole career in front of him and has pace as well.

do you have to mention him in every post? we know you rate him!

west brom would want £10m imo and he's not proven at prem level

Plus, he just signed a new feckin contract hasn't he?!?!

Sorry to rain on your parade but if you kept up with the news you'd know he's not looking to move at the moment!!!!

  7. Ive heard many of Hull problems are down to him and reason morale was terrible at club

    From where?

Strange how everyone seems to love him......given that he's such a toublemaker......really seemed to be the orchestrator of all things evil when the entire team surrounded him to take part in 'that' goal celebration (the one poking fun at the season before when Phil Brown made them all stay on the pitch at half time)....can't imagine he'd have been poking fun like that if he was public enemy number 1 at the club.

Sorry to shoot it down but possibly the most ridiculous comment of the summer thus far.

  8. Bit wank that fulham have got a deal with em too, doesn't really make a

difference but it can't mean ours was 'megabucks', probably why it hasn't been disclosed....

I don't follow your logic. Please explain.

Okay, not being a dick or nowt but not that difficult a post to follow, at least I don't think anyway.

I think it takes the shine off it a little that another club, a club far smaller than us have the same.

Probably therefore means that the deal we received isn't as large as the club and we might have hoped for being that they also then decided to sponsor another club. You also have to imagine that Fulham wouldn't have been expecting a major shirt sponsorship deal and probably weren't searching for one so if the two deals are the same then it's likely that it's not for masses of money as we'd all hoped.

The above then leads to my imagining that it's the reason that no official figures have been released, Spurs, Liverpool, United etc are all happy to boast about their shirt deals whilst we've been left in the dark, probably because they don't want to seem inferior to the above mentioned....

    Does that make it clearer?

  9. No, I think we'll sign about 5 players with roughly the same number leaving and a few of the best kids promoted to boost numbers further. The players coming in will be better than those leaving and we'll be stronger. We'll also spend a fair bit more than we recoup.

    Bonkers positive.

Yes, we've just signed a new £20m sponsorship contract and we have a billionaire owner who has consistently spent money on improving the club/squad plus we have quite a few players to sell/release to raise funds.

I dont know where I get my ideas from.

The owner also indicated sell to buy, as well as the club being self sustaining.

Your also assuming players will want to come to Villa and sit on the bench.

MON has shown no evidence that fighting for your place ensures you have a chance of being in the first team unless your a favourite.

Players are dumb agents are not.

Good luck with your 5 players in.

You're a real fountain of positivity this summer aren't you Jez, we all REALLY look forward to your inspirational and motivational words.....

  10. At Celtic he had Bobo Balde, Joos Valgaeren, Henrik Larsson, Lubomir Moravcik, Didier Agathe to name but a few, this shows that your statement that he's not confident managing foreign players is cobblers. He took them to the Uefa Cup final with that team. I think that was the blueprint all along; to sign young english talent and then add to it gradually with bigger european names which I'm confident we will do.

Surely if the story originated in the country that the player in question plays in, then the story has more credibility than if it was in The Mirror?

Thats fine you believe he will, i think you'll be disappointed.

Nothing he has done at Villa has shown he is willing to do that.

Lets be honest its not really a gamble with Celtic he had Guppy and Lennon looking like world beaters in that league, i doubt he was particularly worried who he brought in.

Earth to Jez......Earth to Jez.......Jez are you out there?

  11. Sorry guys but this is all smelling a little like sour grapes.

If it was us who had been taken over by the arabs we'd be absolutely loving it.

People said the same thing about Chelski ruining football, have they? Or have they just made the league more competitive? Have they just raised the bar a little?

It's the nature of the beast ladies and gentleman, no point in trying to fight it as you'll only fall out of love with football, and if you've reached that point already then you're in the wrong place I'm afraid.

  12. The "O'Neill only signs English, Premier League players" line is really boring now........plus it makes anyone who says it a little bit moronic being as there is quite solid evidence to the contrary.

I doubt there's a single manager in the Prem who would say they don't look for players with Prem experience as a first port of call in the transfer market. It makes sense to do so.

  13. Then again he also may look at his pay packet.

We really need to get it out of our heads that either footballers are loyal to the club or the club loyal to them. They are a commodity, a tool to be used and then traded once their realisable value reaches a point too good to turn down.

Villa may make all the noises about keeping him etc but if Citeh bid 30M or more then I am sure Milner would be on his way to Eastlands and probably in Randy's private jet (with regular updates from thetrees no less along the way!)

Milner may make the noises about staying with us but if Citeh offered him 100K plus per week he'd be off in a shot.

Sorry but loyalty no longer exists and in the game dominated by money it is only those with more of that stuff that tend to win

To be fair though it's been this way for some time now, and I'm not talking since the inception of the Premier League either........

The sooner we all accept it and stop bleating on about the 'good ol' days' (not aimed at you Richard) of football the better off we'll be, IMO.

  14. I just don't get why some people rate Stephen Ireland so much......I fancy he's benefitted from the mysterious Reo-Coker syndrome, i.e. the less he plays the better he gets in the eyes of some.

If we lose Milner we would do extremely well to replace him, we may bring in another body but whether that body can replicate or indeed heighten the performances of Milner is another story.

Personally I think losing Milner could be very damaging for the club, but then I thought the same about Barry and we seem to have improved off the back of that sale so who knows!

I absolutely agree with all of that

    I would too.

As for Ireland I think he could be a canny buy, at the right price, but certainly not as a direct replacement for Milner. I think its much more about having options and variation in the midfield.

I'm not averse to signing Ireland by the way, I do think he's a decent player but to say he would replace Milner I think is a bridge too far.

  15. Aint going to happen at 120K per week

Is that what he was on at Chelski?

I don't know if he could quite command £120k p/w now given the fact he is now technically a free agent (so technically unemployed, hence not earning a salary) plus all the injury problems.....

Whatever the weather though we'd be looking at something in and around the £100k mark, as I said Richard, I don't think it will happen, I just want it to.

    We can but dream.

  16. I think if we're not already doing so we should be doing everything physically possible to bring in Joe Cole.

He literally is everything we're missing, a big name creative midfielder.

I know it's largely out of our hands, if he wants to stay in London there's nowt we can do but if there's even a slim chance of him considering us I wouldn't be too disappointed for us to break our wage structure for him, and that's taking into account his injury problems too.

I don't think this will happen, but I want it to happen.
