It could have been worse, but wild we never get a team like Maidstone.
Except Gravesend and Northfleet and Stevenage, the latter went well.

Will never understand this. How do you 'ditch' a game? Just concede it and don't send a team to play? They're professional athletes, so glad they and Unai don't share this view.
We haven't won a trophy since 1996.
‘Just concede it and don’t send a team to play’ What a ridiculous comment. You put out a team that allows the knackered players to rest and don’t go into a massive meltdown on here if we don’t win. Thanks for the info about our last trophy win didn’t know that.

Perhaps we should ditch the fa cup this year. Our players are knackered and need a proper rest. The next 10 days would be ideal. We can then focus on our league position and enjoy a real go in Europe for the rest of the season. We really don’t need any more matches this season.

phew, a wins a win, good job (in the end).
tell you what though, if that Duran pen had been given against us i would have been apoplectic.
no way was it a pen tbh.
Got to take them though because we will get one against us soon.

Shite. Sums up your comment. Not pretty but a win whilst not playing well and joint top of the premier league. Looks like you want to follow a team that produces faultless performances week in week out. Not sure they exist in the real world.

People saying some are losing the plot???
Shittest team in the league with 10 men against a top 4 team and we nearly mugged it.
Yes we're gonna lose the plot, like Emery would!!
Crucial word there NEARLY.

Some of the comments on here, bordering on hysterical.

Still don't get the point of two sub keepers, you might need one but you're never needing two, ever.
Surely to give the 18 year old match day experience in the build up during the game as long as Olsen is unavailable then should EMI get injured then he becomes the number 2 . You can’t expect an 18/year old just to step up with no experience whatsoever and perform to the required standard.

Just think not long ago we had ‘must win games’ to get out of the championship, then ‘must win games’ to avoid relegation, now ‘must win games’ to get into the Champions league yet our players are described as being bottlers, a disgrace , dog shit etc, etc, what do the players/ staff have to do to get the fan base (if this forum is a true reflection ) to get behind them for more than one win at a time. If we are to achieve the levels we all want then it’s time for ALL fans to be SUPPORTIVE not REACTIVE.

I don't get this logic, neither would Emery.
We need to have the same mentality as the top teams, or we won't be finishing in the top 4 at all.
We can develop this mentality we haven’t been a top team for years , they have. We should accept that it takes time.

We will hopefully end the year in the top 4, why would we want to drop down the league?
Yes 5th will be a okay finish, but why can we not focus on a top 4 finish, which means cracking on, an smashing crap Burnley off the pitch.
People saying if we don't beat these it's okay have a pretty low expectations, especially after beating Arsenal and playing Man City off the park.
Low expectations or realistic expectations? We are on journey it’s ok to take time otherwise we could be Newcastle and I’m not sure that would be appreciated on here.

Not beating Burnley does alter that, as if we can't beat them, I'm not sure how we are gonna get past many others, luck maybe.
Well they managed it enough before Christmas.

City game is the only game in the last 6 that I can say we have played well.
There’s a chance we might play well in some of the remaining games who knows they did it enough in the preceding games.

I have no confidence in this team after the Utd collapse.
Please surprise me.
The same squad tat beat Man City and Arsenal in the space of 4 days or are we just focusing on that team at Utd ?

We won't be winning any Prem title chap if that's what you mean, an hardly fighting too hard for a CL place if we cannot manage to see off Burnley.
Never thought we would win the league 5th always the target for me and not beating Burnley does not alter that.

If we lose to these at home, we may aswell write the season off.
Why? Surely a fight for a champions league place would keep the season alive for some fans ? Or is it Champions or nothing ?

This site never disappoints last week we could have gone top of the premier league we are now verging on a long disappointing slump.

Just running out of steam unfortunately, very lacklustre couple of performances.
Again missing Kamara, Torres hurts us as they are two strong performers. Add to that a couple of no shows in Luiz, McGinn, carrying Ramsey and Moreno who don't look match-fit and we are gasping for air. Sense of tiredness too it seems.
However to capitulate like that really hurts, confidence was likely knocked after Sheffield Utd. and even more so now.
So typical of Villa to give a dying Man Poo their lifesaver performance which could likely galvanise them.
Worrying about Spuds and Man Poo now chasing us down.
Was in total agreement with this until I got to Man Poo !! Ffs are you 7 ?

Why the tears about Lenglet ? back ups are rarely as good as the first choice ( that’s why they are back ups) and he is our 4/5 centre back who is steady enough.how many other squads can pick a player of his quality with 2 centre backs injured and another playing right back ?
