Thought he did some pretty good things yesterday.  He miscontrolled one pass but got back on it and squared a good ball for a chance in the first half.

Had a really good touch  when the ball came into his feet with back to goal and defender behind him, he opened his body go one way and then lost his defender going the other way.

Was never gonna miss the penalty.

He's a scapegoat for a lot of things, but I'll always appreciate him.

Matty Cash and Ramsey also had a few bad touches and lost the ball etc, but the reaction is never as vehemently negative as when El Ghazi does it.

We have some strange and shitty fans.

problem is that balls skills are supposed to be his strong side. He doesn't read the game well, press well or defend well. He isn't a creative player. He doesn't particularly pass well either. So when he takes his poor touches he seems a poor footballer

Even with the players we have out, we are still the better squad. Yes i understand in the grand scheme of things, that doesn't mean much if our guys don't show up and play to their ability. However, I have a good feeling about this one. First game at home and the squad should want to put that performance at Watford behind them.

    3 points to us.

I like your optimism but I don’t agree. Watford and Stoke performances are bugging me. I don’t think we are as good as people think.

  3. I was really disappointed. There seemed to be absolutely no team cohesion against Watford. And also no team cohesion in the friendly matches. Even Stoke beat us the same way.

I really could t see what we were trying to do- apart from long balls forward. Added to the fact that we don’t look dangerous from set pieces at all. I think we are in for a long season. I hope I’m wrong.
It doesn’t look like the team has improved since last year. In fact it has got worse.

If Smith keeps us up , he will have done well.

  4. We picked the wrong team yesterday. Though hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Where Watford had pace on the wings we were weak and slow.

We didn't have any pace to counter them, or creativity to open them up.

We fielded a poor side. Why Ashley Young played winger I don't know.

ElGhazi has been poor his entire villa career, but does score an occasional goal. He played as I expected.

Lumping long balls to Ings isn't going to work. It was like Matty Cash was trying to score a field goal.

We probably should have played a 3-5-2 or 5-3-2 set up. Where we cancel their wide threat and give them hell with two up front.

I thought Smith got it hugely wrong, and Watford were actually very poor. Even though we have only played one game I think it showed that we are a lower mid table team right now.

I don't get the point in saying we're not after anyone else. The second we approach a club about a player, they know we're after them.

The only reason that could end up being a lie is to raise the fans spirits higher if we do sign someone.

If its not a lie, I think we're going to about match last season... so 8th/9th if we get lucky with injuries,  which so far we have not, or 11th if we don't.

11 th , id take that.

Watford are genuinely awful. This is a shocking result.

Yes very poor. We have given the ball away and been hammered time after time on the counter attack.
Wrong tactics. Playing with two wingers, who. We had none match fit.
hopefully we won’t see this line up again.
