We should put up a houllier support poll to see how it compares to Mons...
-
the younger players are ment to be on mad money to get them to the club.anyway if going by GH time at liverpool is anything to go by,and french talent he brought in was shite..
Plus to become the new arsenal you have to be a master at underhand tactics of tapping up the young prospects around the world with back handers.

Some people say he was at fault for not getting 4th a couple of years back.
He wasnt at fault, Mon was at fault for buying him...which puts him as one of Mons worst signings IMO.
I think hes absolutely rubish, the chances he's had directly in front of goal to simply scupper. You would wish for just about anyone else in the team to be on the end of those chances.
As for holding up the ball and bring other people into the play, how can he do that from the floor?
He's dire IMO and the sooner we get him off the wage bill and have someone else in who adds something to the team the better.

The timing of this particular signing was one of the worst if I remember correctly. At the time we had one of our best chances of mounting a serious challenge for top 4, Heskey was exactly what we didnt need at the time.
-
Nope I don't think that holds up to be honest, even on VT (which has the extremes of opinion both ways) he was always around the 75% approval rating in our polls, so your "average Villa fan" always supported MON
But tbh I think MON's worst buy was Downing, in terms of what he's done and the money spent. Davies is an odd one, because he's either been great or awful, Both of those represent much poorer value for money than Heskey, though I'm not sticking up for Heskey because I do think he's poor now
Yeah I think the average villa fan "supported" him per-say, like myself. I think we were all happy enough to go along with him as manager, but mostly due to there being nothing better out there and you can't deny the success we have had compared to what we did have.
I think more and more we were getting increasingly frustrated by certain actions and what we could have had with a few changes here and there. I would have been equally as happy for him to go as I was for him to stay, I just would have rather he went at the end of the season so we had time to find a new man.
All in all though, I think most villa fans like myself supported him whilst he was manager.

For me he is definitely amongst the worst so I put yes.

Houllier stories rehashed in the metro today as well.
No quotes or anything of substance mind.

Personally, Moyes, Jol even Mark Hughes would come to us if the timing was different, say it was the summer i'm certain they'd jump at it but because they've just had pre-seasons and are settled with their sides they'd be mad to join Villa at this current time.
My thing is the timing, I dont think we should be mulling over the dead wood thats floating around but rather give it time for the right person.
The alleged strategy of signing someone now for the long run who isnt employed is wrong wrong. Speak with someone like Jol and ask if he would consider us in the future, you can make up pre-contracts cant you?

You chuckin in ya season ticket too?
Woulnt be able to quite chuck it at teh dugout properly anymore, just a piece of card and wont sail through the air as well
Which reminds me of a fan that ran up to a manager and threw his season ticket at him. Was it McClaren?
Yah, it's what I was referring too at old Boro. Wont have the same effect now with a lightweight bit of plastic, will have to bluetac a coin to it or something

We also could have won 3-0 Sunday too.
Everton didn't have that many great shots on goal....How many did Friedel have to save?
This is what I keep saying to people, so many comments about how "lucky" we were and some everton fans saying we should be ashamed to win like that after game.
Luck to me is when a clear cut chance doesn't go in, though the way we played we didn't give them the option of clear cut chances to miss.

Apologies to the PMers, I have been out all morning and just got back.
I never have any idea who is on board a certain aircraft, I can only make assumptions based upon its movements.
There was a strange one this morning that involved a quick turn around that suggested that it might be collecting someone. As its last foreign arrival was from a different point, I surmised that it wasn't collecting its owner.
For me all things point to Houllier and, as I couldn't get odds on Jacques Santini :winkold: that is where I put my money.
If you take me as a tipster, please bear in mind that I had a pile of money on MON to be the next Liverpool manager, so I am not exactly an accomplished gambler
I thought you were guarenteeing all bets....if houllier isnt manager you owe me £25
-
Wonder if its an appointment based purely on someone who did something back in "his day" (randy).
-
Amsterdam.
Everyone it's Jol. Get down Laddie Bs and lump the **** on.
Here's to dreaming
-
It does, but not sure I should be giving it out on a public forum. Will just say its in Northern Europe and will take less than an hour to get there
Schipol takes that time...
-
Maximum bet at skybet is £25 @ 10/1.
Went for it, could be horse shit but I spend more on the lottery that ive never one once
-
Have you any ITK on this or was it the trip to Corsica the other day that steered you in Houllier's direction?
I'm wondering this too...be nice to have some inside info to make a bet on :winkold:
-
OMG lets hope the appointment is not made in just under 500 posts time because that will be the 6666 post anouncing the arrival of........HIM
your sure its a him then? imagine if it wasnt

Why do people wet their knickers when they look at the odds? the bookies aint got a clue
Ever meet a poor bookie? Didn't think so
Thats because they change the odds depending on how much money is being lumped...to make sure they never lose.
Money that is lumped nearly always on nothing but rumour...and people taking a notice of the odds being changed.
It's rare that money is lumped because someone actually knows something.

Given a run of games, I always think we will see something quite extraordinary from NRC. Shame he doesnt get a constistent run.
-
I **** hate Redknapp, be glad to see the back of this window and get a manager now.
I'd have him at the Villa as manager...
-
Maybe thye got confused by Dale Winton?
Hmm, put him against some of the other possibilities touted...we can only hope
-
I will always wonder how much of this piece would exist if the score was reversed at the weekend. And how many people agreed with it then.
-
Yes, he was quite excited before the match! And pretty much disappointed while been moved away on the stretcher.
That was the thing that made me feel bad for the guy.
He genuinally looked as if his big chance had been dragged away from him, he was so genuinally gutted at being forced off. Infact I think he even shed a tear, or so it looked
Emile Heskey - MON's worst signing?

I'm not sure 3mil was the limit of the kitty at the time? Wasnt lerner saying there was money to be spent, at that time? Fact is there was far better players out there who went to lesser teams at the time, much better buys.
I'll throw something else out there, the reported ridiculously high wage heskeys stuck on...and the fact we want to reduce our wage bill. Who on earth can we offload him to now, nobody is going to match the contractual obligation we've gotten ourselves into and I can't see Heskey forfeiting it as he would surely be mad too?
So now we are stuck with a useless player who is bumping up our wage bill "problem". Thanks to Mon.
