  1. Watched Super-8 and Rise of the Apes last few days.

Both 7/10 films for me, showed glimpes of being great films but both just fell short....

The CGI in Rise of the apes was pretty special, only a few scenes where i lost some of the immersion due too bad CGI.

Super-8 started really well but lost its way in the middle part for me.

  2. Sorry BOF but i disagree with you on this one.

Obviously not the best time for a learner to be on the road but everyone has to learn sometime, you arent really learning by driving around empty roads during the day, maybe the instructor could have been a bit more clever about directions but the point still stands for me.

So many people seem to forget that they had to learn to drive a car at some point, a lot of unfair abuse gets directed at learners imo.

I suppose in this instance your gripe is with the instructor more than anything which i can understand.

  3. Just wondering how you lot protect your ears when you go to these concerts?

My ears are really sensitive these days and i feel like im one heavy club night or one gig night away from having full blown tinitus, anyone reccomend some products or techniques they use? It can't just be me.

  4. Watched unknown last night. T'was a good film

Is that the film which is just The Bourne Identity without Matt Damon?

Thats a good thing if you think Matt Damon is a bit of a douche.

  5. fanboys - was ok but probably depends on how much you like SW

Watched this myself, quite a good movie actually and im not a star wars fan.

I thought Kristen Bell looked very hot in that movie, i didnt actually recognise her at first.

I watched that the other week, and didn't think it was amazing by any stretch of the imagination. I am actually a SW fan (not anywhere near the extent of the characters though) as well. Some nice cameos (particularly Kevin Smith & Jason Mewes), but other than that, pretty meh.

As mentioned though the Kirsten Bell / Liea thing was an added bonus.

Agreed, but i think i liked the actors more than the characters if that makes any sense.

Seth Rogen cameo was good, and i do like Jay Baruchel from knocked up and shes out of your league etc..

  7. Brick. Joseph Gordon-Levitt <3 Raging bone on for him, I'm not ashamed to say. I recommened all his films, but specifically Manic and Mysterious Skin

Wasn't a massive fan of brick to be honest.

Thought he was really good in 500 days of summer though.

  8. To be honest this is pissing me off now.

I accepted the signing of mcleish, i accepted the selling of Young but this is just a step too far.

First we sold barry, ok we'll move on, then we sold milner, ok we'll move on..... Now its Young and Downing. Not exactly sure what our assets are after those pair go, basically just Bent.

Heskey was done last season, Brad has gone, Reo Coker is gone, Petrov must be on his last legs, unless Mcleish signs 5-6 players (which he probably won't) we are going to struggle to put a team out next year, might aswell play the full youth team as an experiment, sounds like a joke really but thats pretty much Aston Villa at the moment, a BIG JOKE.

How have we gone from Champs League hopefuls 2-3 years ago to mid table also rans so quickly?

Its almost as if the o' neill and lerner years didnt happen and we are back to the mid table stodge of the last 15 years.

  9. Im baffled as to why i keep hearing so many positive reviews for the film THOR.

I thought it was boring and just a shitty movie all round, i would rather watch judge dredd than that film again.

  10. I watched the movie "Frozen" last night. It's about 3 people who get stuck on a ski lift, at night, and everyone goes home, and the ski resort is closed for the whole next week. Oh and there is a snow storm and wolves running around on the mountain below them. Basically I think someone saw that bit in Dumb n Dumber where the guy gets his tongue stuck to the ski lift, and thought 'that would make an excellent feature length film'. I was expecting it to be completely terrible, but it wasn't quite as bad as that. Lost it's way in the last half an hour, and you could skip the first half an hour, which leaves you will half an hour that is alright.

I think i was bigging this film up about 6 months ago.

Nothing special but a decent film, its main asset was at least trying to do something different, its not really a genre specific film.

  11. Went to see bad teachers, worst film I've seen in a while

I can't think of one of these films that actually work, films where the main character is a clearing in the woods but you're somehow expected to like them, it's not funny ridiculously easy to see the ending and Diaz IMO looks awful for most the film

I read a review of this and it said that cameron diaz was attrocious

they said the saving grace of the film was justin timberlake which is saying something about the film.

Timberlake is actually not a bad actor from what ive seen of him.

I thought Alpha Dog was a very good movie.
