  1. Grant Holt... Great signing, was worried that villa would not attract quality after missing out on resigning Harewood and S. Moore #avfc #preparingfornextyear
  2. General, First let me state the amazing admiration I have for you. You have done this consultancy with Villa forums for a while and often in difficult situations and for that I would like to thank you. Last year was the first year since I can remember that I had not had a season ticket. It was not due to club issues but due to finances. It was always my intention now in a better job to restart the season ticket this year. Firstly I just want to say that I have genuinely been pleased with the calibre of names we have been linked with for the vacant Villa manager. There has been none that have brought about a negative reaction and plenty that have made me excited about the future. If press stories are true, I was particularly excited about Martinez but I can understand the decision to stay at Wigan and praise his integrity and sense of honour to Wigan However, the contempt shown for the Villa fans with the approach for Alex Mcleish is unbelievable. In your previous statement you said that not all Villa fans may not like the manager but we have to do what is best for the club but to appoint a manager from our arch rivals who has been relegated twice is completely against the fans wishes. Can you imagine the backlash if Rangers tried to appoint Neil Lennon or if Celtic tried to appoint Ally Mccoist. I think you have to understand to us die hard Villa fans this is exactly the same. He is highly unpopular and in a recent vital Villa poll got approximately 85/90% anger at this move. If it is true that the boards move is completely ignore the fans then as I fan I will consider my only action to not renew along with my 2 brothers. I will still live and breathe Aston Villa, be devastated on the weekend when we lose, spring in my step when we win but I will not put money into the club the fans voice is heard and not ignored like some fly that can be eventually swatted away. Regards
  3. General, I said before that I would like to thank you for the effort you put on these and other Villa message boards. However, I and other Villa fans I know are not overly pleased with a long series of events. Just for a recap of the timeline, for the second season in a row we sell our best player and other squad players while all the other teams around us are buying quality players, we have our most successful manager for approximately 12-14 years leave the club with only a very limited explaination of why this is. This happens approximately 28 days before the transfer window and it certainly seems that significant efforts to replace him only start 28 days later after the worse transfer window in a very long time happens. Additionally to this we have an extremely dissapointing exit from Europe. One of the most embarresing defeats, certainly I can remember and if I spent more time thinking about it there could be more. All of this time we are told to be patient and everything will work out alright. Now in the newspapers we are linked with a dissapointing selection of managers and the newest rumor surrounding managerial appointment is that we going to stick with the manager who presided over the dissapointing Europe exit and one of the most embarrasing defeats in a long time. I don't expect you to comment on managerial appointment but I think you have to understand that the best source of information for Villa fans comes from the newspapers and if we are not happy with the list managerial appointments or any of the other issues listed above we would usually comment on the message boards. I might have not commented but I recently read on another message board, I don't comment on about you saying that Villa fans should not be commenting on messages boards if they don't have positive comments about the list of managerial appoints we are linked with. General you can surely understand that there is a significant portion of Villa fans who just see the past 3 months a catalogue of dissapointments and only see more in the near future with possible managerial appointments. If we can't or aren't supposed to comment on this and other Villa message boards, where are we supposed to comment? Or are we just expected to hold exactly the same opinion as the Villa heirachy which have let us down so badly over past few months after so much good work in the first few years?
  4. General, I have a question about the statement made from the club. The statement says that we will we what not be making any additions to the club without a new manager so realistically that won't be this summer. Can you please confirm that this will also be the case for the sale of players as well as I assume that the new manager will be assessing this once they are appointed?
  5. General, Long time observer but not actually made comments for a long time.... I would be lying if I didn't say I was dissapointed with the club at the moment. It is very tough at the moment and there doesn't seem to be any immediate signs of things improving at the moment in my eyes. I hope that will change soon. I believe in American football its called a rebuilding season? But... I would just like to say that you have been put in a no win position over the summer what with lack of spending, resignations, bad results and important players leaving but you have still consistantly come on the messages boards and I believe that should be commended. So thanks General
  6. I personally think it might be useful to send to MON, while I appreciate that is might not be the opinion of everyone on these message boards. Even if it is just the 10 or so people who have confirmed that it is there opinion on these message boards then I still believe it might be useful in explaining our frustrations. I would like to say that Pilchard's post was extremely well thought out and well constructed. Even if you don't agree with it the in the slightest it is very well structured and sums up my feelings perfectly. My situation is slightly different in that I was a season ticket holder for the past 3 years but I could not have afforded the one of payment at renewal time so I decided I will go to all the home games and pay for them individually and then possibly get a half season ticket when in January. I don't anticipate myself going any time soon simply because of Pritchard's arguement. I love Villa and I will check the results and news with anticipation but I really don't enjoy us playing badly, I hate us losing and I don't want to send my time and money to make myself unhappy. I don't want to make this a slight on you general. I believe that what you do on these message boards is fantastic in a position with is often without thanks.
  7. Hello General, Perhaps you could help me with a little business insight . I have always wondered how you project the flow of season tickets/shirts etc. thoughout the summer. Is is a steady flow of tickets being sold? Are there certain dates and times that there are increased flow? Does the signing of new players affect significantly the sale amount of both season tickets and mechandising? On a seperate note, do you expect there to be a reduced sale quantity of season tickets this year due to the current financial year. I say this because this will be the first year in a fair few years that I will be able to commit to a season ticket (I am already in mourning).
  8. Hello General, welcome back sir I would like to ask a question to you as a fan more than a respresentative I wondered if you had any thoughts on the likes of Real Madrid and perhaps more importantly Manchester City and there ability to offer astronomical sums of money for players in both transfer fees and wages. Do you believe it is good/bad for the football? and do you believe this level of spending is unsustainable or because of there chairman/boards wealth it will continue on an upward spiral?
