That time it took for the EFL to approve Xia should have started to ring alarm bells. I think lots of us had doubts, but really wanted to believe in Xia after the misery and silence of the final years of the previous regime.
Yep, there were many things off from the start, some looking back with hindsight and other more obvious things

Any ideas as to what happens to the £30m?
Dose it go to the club coffers or Tonys pocket?
It's Xia's for a share in the club as far as I'm aware. Thing is Xia had no operating capital so that needs to be factored in. I don't know, but I'd imagine other cash has been put in to increase the cash flow.

From your posts I actually expected you'd seen it. Secondly why would Tony just sell his 45% for less than market rate? I know you hate Tony but why would you assume he'd just sell up prior to any success?
What's the market rate for a club just about to go into Admin? I'm not sure where I have suggested he should sell it for less than any rate?? Also I don't hate Tony. I just don't think he's been a very good owner and the fact we were 72 hours away from Administration kinda attests to that

But he was saying we dont know what type of football he would play so what has a coaching role somewhere got to do with that, we still wouldn't know.
Also did he ever even actually coach at Arsenal?
I was replying to the part that said "He is literally just a name!" I should have made that clearer and yes he did

He also coached at the World Cup with Belgium, and did a great job. But we are not talking about him coming to us as a coach.
We could be if it was a 'head coach' But as I've said, everyone starts their manager career somewhere. Lampard up the A38 with Derby with literally NO experience, yet Derby fans are delighted and they had Rowett. You sometimes just have to take a chance. For the longet term future of the club, I'd say keeping Bruce is a bigger chance.

That’s fine. But we could try something new that doesn’t involve appointing a complete rookie
Equally what's wrong with going with a new guy (he's not a complete rookie as I've already alluded to) but yes he's new to a managers gig. Look at Gerrard and Lampard, they all start somewhere. Why not at Villa. Purely a preference isn't it?!

When did Viera and Arteta become good managers?
Well Viera has got the Nice job and did very well in the US and good means different things to different people. Arteta was strongly considered for the Arsenal job, so I'd say that makes him most likely worthy of a mention for a Championship club. As I said in my last post, this is a new manager thread. No good Bruce keepers just coming in to shit on any mention of a new manager, because it's just a hypothetical discussion (this isn't aimed at you per se, just a general observation)

There are plenty of people who want it to happen, which suggests they’re pretty sure.
Its an absolutely massive gamble. Might be a genius move, but I just don’t know where people are getting their confidence. Henry has done nothing.
I know that the season may not be as effected by our finances as we first thought with this new investment, but Henry still feels like an unnecessary gamble.
First off to want something doesn't equate to knowing how something would be, its just liking the 'idea' of it (we get it you don't, but it is the new manager thread and not the Bruce or a new manager thread) It's not an either or question. We're discussing managers linked/rumored, but it's 100% become about X manager v Bruce.
You say it yourself, could be a huge gamble or genius, none of us know, some just like the idea. As for what he's done, He's coached at an Premier League team and at a Top 3 World Cup team with superstars in both and has had lots of favourable comments about his coaching, so that isn't 'done nothing' no he hasn't got 4 Championship promotions which now appears to be the only prerequisite for the job.
The last sentence boiled down is what it's really about. You don't want to take a risk as you're happy with Bruce and that's cool, it's your opinion. Others would quite like a new direction

We have no proof that Henry can play any kind of football!
He is literally just a name!
Once again people literally ignoring the fact he COACHED at Arsenal, who aren't too shabby in the football department. I think it's a case of seeing what you want to see.

My opinion is get Wenger on the board as an adviser. Surely that may appeal to him?
Would be great as an adviser to the board

One thing I forgott about in my rush of excitement over our new overlords is what happened to the fit and proper owners test?
Did it not have to be conducted as Naz and Wez only bought a minority stake each? Or did the EFL do it in hyper speed time? If so the EFL should get a big thanks (although I'm not sure if that's how we want it to work really).
Anyway, after have passed Xia and others I guess this test doesn't mean much, can as well just skip it if it isn't revised.
(Sorry if this has already been explained on here)
They approved the cash injection and the deal in principle, they just need to pass the Directors and Owners test to complete the formalties. Won't be long though as EFL are already pretty happy with what they know. Won't take weeks like Xia did

Any inside info on Grealish. From what you know what percentage would you give him for staying...
None at all bud. I knew he was 100% going and going fast (but we could all see that) I also tweeted on Monday that all transfers were on hold (as I knew Xia needed to make a deal by Friday) but that's all changed now. We will need to see what the new guys decide

Smart deal by Xia. The two owners will give us money injection and make it a possible promotion race and then Xia sells for profit after value of team increases after promotion.
If things go to plan that is
The new tea boy will be bombed out way before then though I reckon. That will be his desired scenario. They won't want to keep deadwood around. In China, no cash, no football expertise. Just a silent shareholder now (hopefully) No more silly tweets please Xia.

Don't know. I asked about stake and when they would buy more and was told what I posted. I haven't seen it as you'd expect.

I don't think anyone is SO sure. I'm not at all. I can't face another season of Bruce and have wanted change for sometime. I was excited and jealous when Derby got Lampard as it all felt so fresh (no one can be sure there either) so the idea of Henry who has played and then coached under the direction of Wenger (who has equally seen both Viera and Arteta become good managers too) excites me by the 'what if' and the fresh direction it takes us in. I've written off promotion. I had all summer to forget about that one when we couldn't beat fulham as we sat and aimed to not get beat for 45 mins. So if it's a season of transition then it needs to be with a fresh approach and a new guy, with a new team (coaches) and a new way....UTV

Sorry I should of reacted like an adult not a stroppy teen.... day in a beer garden .... to back my statement up I used to work for OUFC and still stay in touch with the old owner who is a bluenose and close to Bruce (attended both recent funerals ) ..... he told me last week to ten days ago Bruce was close to walking and kept threatening to walk ... now he is begging to stay....
To back thabucks up he also shared this with me before the Takeover and yes he is very worried about his job (I don't know at this stage if he should be, he ought to be)

We're so incredibly lucky really. Obviously we don't know what the intentions of the new owners are just yet... (do you?) ... but it would be hard to pick a better name to come and buy us.
I don't mate sadly. I genuinely feel very excited. I've even got out of bed these past few mornings with an extra spring in my step when I wake and remember the Villa. The fact that Nassef is going to be working very hands on (yes I know that part) given how busy he is says a lot about his intentions I think.

Just guessing, but if it were my money I'd hang on and see what these guys can do. Tony's a ghost right now whatever happens.
1 hour ago, PieFacE said:I would guess it's already out of his control and agreed. There's no reason for these guys to spend all their money and having Tony benefit from it.
There is a clause where the two new guys can buy the rest when promoted, but I don't think it will take that long (far from it) Once they're in and get the villa 'bug' They'll offer him a sweetener and he'll duly be off. He's no more than a doorstop now and brings nothing to the party. He did well to cling onto his stake (I'll give him that) but I imagine that was on the orders of his investors.

Based on the Times article posted a couple pages back it doesn't seem like Xia did much.
Our new owners after watching England lose to Croatia decided to buy Villa and a week or so later here we are. All Xia had to do was respond when spoken to as their net worth was a Google search away unlike his..
I'd give more credit to Xia if he had gone out and found these two then sure, but they came to him after hatching out the plan to buy us.
I said yesterday that Xia didn't find them, they found him it and it was a couple of weeks in the works, But yeah the Times piece states they knew each other and discussed it at the WC when at a conference.

There is no logic at all to that really, because neither have any experience. I guess I'm just looking into more seen as its my club rather than Derby.
This isn't true at all. One has NO experience and the other was a coach at Arsenal AND assistant manager to the team that finished 3rd in the WC. Like chalk and cheese really, yet as you say you're excited for Derby, me too and many others, yet many also disregard Henry. He coached at Arsenal and Belgium, not too shabby.
I'm all for it and if the new guys want to make a big statement, go get him, put him with an experienced team and support a few additions and task him with getting the maximum out of what we have. I don't care about promotion this year. Unlikely to happen with or without Bruce, so let's start afresh with a new footballing blueprint. No more players over 28, same formation and style of play club wide, the 'head coach' model. With Villa employing our own coaches and a head coach bringing in his own assistant and only appointing people who will play the way we set out. that way we're not restarting every time we need a new man.
The last 8 years or so have seen many many failings and now is the time to rip it up and start again AND for fans to exercise patience.

If you look at it realistically, then Bruce is the ideal manager in a lot of ways . Experience, Success, History to get a team up from the Championship, so either stick with what we have, and possibly give him some funds, or go for a big name, and hope it works, choice is yours.
I do like Dean Smith though
He's done so well in his 2 seasons here, why not give him another go eh?!
I would take several managers over Bruce. Henry, Terry, AVB, Arteta, Smith

Did xia have a bodyguard?
Xia had whatever Uber driver turned up I have no idea about bodyguards, but I'd assume so right. I know Lerner never wanted to be videoed as he was worried about being Kidnapped
