May as well wait till the end of the season now. I don't think removing the manager will be positive at this point. We can't possibly hire anyone else to make a difference in time. Lambert doesn't seem to be the man for the job anymore despite showing positive signs at points. I think he should go at the end of the season.

I don't think Lambert plays negative football through choice at all. Some of the highest quality goals I've seen Villa score have been under him. Martin O'Neill, Gerard Houllier and McLeish don't even come close to the counter attacking, movement of the ball and pure ambition of some of the goals we've managed despite being in poor league positions on tight budgets!
To name a few Weimann's at Liverpool last season to go 2-0 up, the build up play with Benteke is world class. Lowton's against Stoke last season. Benteke's against Norwich this season. Stuff out of the Champions League from players who were unheard of at the beginning of last season.

All eyes on Blackpool!

How many games are left and who have SHA got on the run in?

Still nothing on BBC website.
I doubt there would be until anything official was announced?
They've reported it as it was said. Obviously the BBC aren't going to speculate beyond what the club has officially announced and in all honesty we probably should get too far ahead of ourselves! http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/27098471

So any coincidence that our pre-season tour is in Texas?
Amazed nobody else had pointed this out (that I had noticed) so far!

Takeover or not, I think Lambert should be given just one more season with the shackles removed just to see what he really could do. I'd like to think he could turn it round with decent backing, however if there has not been significant progress by the end of that season he should go.
He doesn't deserve the backing
40 million pounds worth of shackles?
Everyone keeps going on about that like it's a lot of money in modern football. He's had to build a whole squad with that. Most teams in the top 6 would spend that on two players.
You could argue about how successful he's been at building a squad on that budget, but if you buy an entire wardrobe from Primark most of it's going to fall to bits after a couple of washes.
Exactly, really he's done pretty well to pick up players like Benteke and Okore considering he's been shopping at Primark...

Aston Villa defender Jores Okore is confident that he will recover from his injury in time for the start of next season. The 21-year-old centre-back has been on the sidelines since mid-September after suffering a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament injury in his right knee. The Denmark international, who joined Villa from Nordsjaelland last summer, has now stated that he expects to return to full fitness for the 2014-15 campaign."It (the recovery) is going well right now," he told BT. "I am doing some training with the team."But I am not training full out. At the moment, it is rather up to me whether I feel it is a good idea to get myself back for the last matches or whether I shall focus on next season."That is what I am discussing with (Villa manager) Paul Lambert. Right now, it looks like I will have to focus on the coming season."In case Denmark were playing at the World Cup, then it would have been a different matter."Then, I would have planned my rehab training differently. But I do not really have anything to fight for this summer."At this level, you have to expect tough competition and then it is up to me to prove that I am better than the ones they buy."Of course, I would prefer that they don't bring in someone in my position because that would prove that they have got confidence in me."I managed to play before my injury, but that was just two or three matches and I still need to prove myself over a longer period."
-
IMO he should be given the chance to redeem himself. If that's not be the case then so be it.
Why should he? What's special about Paul Lambert that after 2 awful years he deserves more time?
He's bought relatively well in the transfer market with a limited budget. I'd like to see what he could do with a considerably larger balance. I think we might start seeing the players he wants and his knowledge of other leagues starting to shine through. Eg. picking up players like Kiyotake with ease.

In fairness we've taken 4 points off them this season, can't really complain considering they are on a good season with us on a poor one.

Expected us to go at Southampton from the start yesterday to at least show some spirit but as always back down to earth with slap of reality. The total lack of apathy from most of the team screamed no support for the manager and the so called better players in our side disappeared for the game. Southampton have a future with their up and coming stars, three or four 18-19 year olds yesterday thought that was supposed to be villa with their young and eager 5 year plan.
We'll see what happens to them after they sell those players to pay their debts.
On top of that Shaw is really the only one that is actually playing regularly. Pretty sure with David Moyes in attendance yesterday it's clear the sort of direction he's heading. Ward-Prowse was in yesterday because of Rodriguez's injury and Gallagher and Reed's inclusion is about as significant as us playing Robinson.
Southampton have had a great year, a few players coming into their prime (Seemingly Shaw, Rodriguez & Lallana) and likely to be looking at summer moves. Yet they are still only 8th and behind Man Utd despite all their issues. Shows how far we have to go before we can even think about European football again.
-
Midfielders are playing than the forwards which is something you couldn't say often last season but it explains our lack of goals recently.
-
Just had 100 Euros on the Villa win. COME ON YOU VILLA BOYS!!!
-
On the plus side, if there is one, it probably means we have him next season as well

Feel so terrible about this. Couldn't believe it when I saw it. I'm sure Christian feels even worse. The world cup especially from his perspective only comes around every four years. Lambert's going to have to completely reassess his team. The thought of Grant Holt leading the line for the rest of the season sickens me. Also I really felt Weimann was starting to adjust into playing behind Benteke.

I love the way that "speaking at least four times a week" is indicative of an "excellent working relationship". If my boss only spoke to me 4 times a week I'd assume I was about to be shown the door.
Your boss evidently isn't a billionaire that lives on a different continent then...

Ignore that Woy!

Lowton for Holt? What is that about then?
Calm head?
Holt's strong and good in the air. Physical presence needed now as they are bound to come at us.

Glad they decided to skip the trip to Man City...

Nice to see Jack's back playing tonight again. Notts County are 2-0 up inside 10mins although not sure of Jack's part in either of the goals.

Re Lichaj: It's odd what a change of motivation can do for a players performance

Benteke's missed another, described as a sitter!

Don't mind the rest of the team but I'd like to see the following players started: Steer, Donacien, Gardner, Johnson, Helenius, Robinson, Bowery..... just to let them show what they can really do instead of coming on for 5 minutes as a sub appearance, if they crap for 90 mins then they've only got themselves to blame!
I think from Lambert's comments earlier this week, we're quite likely to see the majority of those players.

After James Wilson and Tom Laurence's involvement last night, what a good advert for involving Grealish in the team. Would really like to see him out there, albeit with a good supporting squad around him.
