  1.

One of his friends replied to that tweet 'English dream' saying 'if you go to Aston, give me a pasaggio? One way :)'

    https://twitter.com/ChristianSchipa/status/360522898886230018

It also seems that Capuano has deleted the English Dream tweet.

Oh and ITK_Transfer reckons us and Liverpool are both after him. I don't know how reliable he is.

Hadn't heard Liverpool were in the mix. Watford were the other club who seemed to be in for him. Would make sense, I guess Zola will follow Serie A and B as well as the Italian national sides. Also his wages and fee would easily be within Watford's territory too. Imagine they are quite disappointed to seemingly ahead in the chase!

  2.

That Italian lad Capuano a few were chatting about today just tweeted "English dream" hmmmm....

    ;)

Very interesting! Could be legs to this. Speaking of legs, has anyone seen the size of Capauno's quads?! Looks like a track cyclist! Pretty impressive for a 21 year old.

  3. Weimann 10 shirts responsible for 95% of sales for the new 13/14 kit since the numbers were announced yesterday! Staggering figures! Fits though, young, academy graduate, hungry, loyal, goal scoring, personable and family orientated - what more could you want from a Villa role model!

    http://www.avfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10265~3327560,00.html

Also the mention of a Weimann 10 on the way to Australia in the article was me in the end  :D

  4.

Marco Capuano's transfer fee is £700k, but it could rise to £1.2million yet, depending on his progression at #avfc.

    Yes... probably bollocks...

That idea was started on these very forums from literally guessing young, highly related players that fit with what people think we need, from the Pescara squad?!

Some idiot has created an ITK account, literally today, to sprout rubbish about it?!

  5. Delighted to see Weimann 'upgraded' to our number 10. I appreciate he quite liked 26, indeed tweeting his boots a few weeks ago with AW26 printed on them. 10 just seems right though now after how impressive he was last season, I hope he goes on the establish his name in the 10 Villa shirt.

My only issue now is that the long sleeved 13/14 home kit I want with Weimann 10 + prem badges looks like it'll set me back 70 quid if I want it this side of Christmas

85quid with delivery to Australia :(  Think I'll wait till i'm home in late August!

  6. Benteke and Helenius together would be nice..

This! I feel like you can double up on one beast of a forward but not two!

Still not sure how likely it is for us to see them play together yet as the teams have generally been balanced first half and second so far and we certainly haven't seen what would seem our best teams playing together. It's more been a fitness and match play exercise and I think that will probably continue to be the case, especially for Benteke, providing he even plays after we thought he came off early on Tuesday.

  7. Didn't feel sorry for Ireland until I saw that video on the fanside youtube page. I hope all three of them (Ireland, Bent and Bannan) find moves soon as it seems like they've been left in the lurch really, just waiting for offers to come in. Sounds like Bent is pretty likely to go sooner than later, even Bannan says he's leaving, but doesn't seem like there has been much interest in Ireland as he is the only one to say he doesn't know what is going to happen.

I think the three of them all want to play football in a team that wants them but ultimately it's between taking half your salary or not playing. I'm sure there would be people on here that would happily double their salary, even if it meant doing a job they didn't want to do. Sad but true. Society is very material and footballers are broadly speaking extremely materialistic individuals, if they aren't training or scoring goals in games, a lot of the time their only other fulfillment comes from spending money. Certainly there are a generation where that is true just now. I think a lot of them could use a hobby or another interest to be honest, something that isn't buying clothes, cars, eating calorific food in expensive restaurants, drinking or even drugs. I guess fish aren't such a bad interest compared to some!

  8. I'm not sure we really need to sign anyone else. I think people are forgetting the biggest mistake we made last season was letting go of leads in the second half of games. We would have finished 6th if games finished on 45minutes. (http://www.skysports.com/opinion/story/0,25212,12038_8615420,00.html)

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see a new number 10, world cup bound, creative play maker join the club (cough Japanese.. cough Bundesliga experience..) but our team from last season did enough in the goal scoring department. Our issues were in conposure and defense. I think this can easily be achieved on the training ground and by having a group of players together as a unit for a full preseason, as well as also having strong options to change to in the second halves of games, should be start to fall behind or come under pressure.

If we were told Villa would sign 6 players all under 23 (?) by this point at the end of the season, I would be over the moon! (and am!) We're all a bit guilty of thinking running a real club is just like playing football manager haha

  9. Grealish from what I've seen of him play, which isn't much, he has a unique style. Excellent first touch. The ball never far from his feet when he dribbles. Deceptively fast, he almost glides across the ground with the ball. Uses skill moves and sense of balance to get passed opposition players. When he releases the ball, near or inside the penalty area, the subtle ball short is a favourite. That's his trademark for me so far: creative dribble then the short ball. Not great at shooting.

The traits which you mention above are all far more important than shooting or finishing at his age. I'm no expert but from my experience of playing football at university level, a decent shot will develop with age. At 18 his legs, quads and hamstrings especially, will still have a great deal of strengthening to do. I would imagine Villa will only just be beginning a strength conditioning program with him now as using weights isn't really reccomended until the rest of the body is fully developed. The next 3 years are key though and some experience in and around the first team will be a real boost to his confidence levels and motivation to see what he's working towards. All in all, very promising player - I just hope people don't expect him to even be at League 2 standards yet as he's only just become a young adult really. Looking forward to keeping an eye on him, his position is something every football fan likes to see!

PS. don't mention Wilshere as quite frankly his development was freak and I think somewhat caught up with him last season with his injuries.

  10. The danish league (Superliga) started this weekend. Aalborg tonight very surprisingly won

2-1 at home against the reign champions

    FC Copenhagen.

Both Aalborg goals were scored by our attackers, which have been hugely debated sine Helenius was sold.

Congrats Aalborg! Hope you guys can keep it up. Who are the two young attackers taking over in Helenius' departure? Have the club invested much of the fee at all?

  11. Wonder whether any of Tonev, Gabby or Okore who picked up knocks in Germany will feature at all?

Looking forward to watching this, this afternoon!

This will be of greater interest I think than Benteke playing for me. Picked up AVTV on the £5 for 6 games offer for this. Going to be watching at 1am from Australia!

VERY late to this news, is it too late to tell SPUDS to kill themsleves without seeming like a sadist?

    Go right ahead

    As I always say...

Its NEVER too late to tell Spurs or their fans to go and kill themselves

Bit late to be posting on a Friday night lads. Chill out

To be fair, it is 13:42 where I live in Thailand

Haha exactly, it's 5pm in Australia so a bit weird to be seeing death threats to other fans thrown around

  14. Hope this forum goes back to analysis of Benteke's strengths and goals now. Lambert said he's a fair bit behind the other lads but it sounds like he'll be involved in preseason games somewhere. Perhaps Walsall or Shamrock Rovers the earliest we should be thinking we might see might playing again.

  15. Was so so happy to wake up to the Benteke news this morning though. I saw a friend had posted in a mates facebook group and presumed it was just a tabloid saying he was staying, then saw the official club post and virtually jumped out of bed!

  16.

I'm all for optimism, but I'm wary of people getting carried away. We'll still do well to finish top half, there are other teams who already had better squads than us who have strengthened as well. I'd be very happy with a top ten finish for this season. Top six is crazy talk, in my opinion.

It's just my Benteke high speaking. Given that Everton have lost Moyes though I think we are good candidates for the top 8.

With West Brom losing Lukaku, I think they are prime candidates to drop out of the top 8 too. Anelka isn't a replacement either I don't think, similar to when we had Pires for a season. Their chairman admitting they are an 'over performing championship side' probably shows their true ambitions and objectives too - http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/west-bromwich-albion-chairman-jeremy-4731583

  17. Really level headed round up of going on's at the club right now. You can speculate till the cows come home but those above are the facts we have as to our position and overall it's extremely promising and i'm delighted to have a progressive thinking manager who is looking to build towards long term, sustainable, success. Exciting times around VP!!
