Thanks for all the kind words lads. Been back at work/coaching full time now. So absolutely knackered.
Feel a lot better. Still got a couple of important doctors appointments. But definitely feeling a sense of normalcy in my life again.
Got both my Covid shots now and working hard to put on some of the 45-50lbs I lost . Had to buy a whole new bunch of clothes!

5 dead in the small town I live in last night. Former NFL player killed a doctor, his wife, grandkids and a handyman.
apparently the doctor had cut him off painkillers.

2020:
Feb: found out missus was pregnant
March- August: No in person coaching or teaching due to covid
Sept: Baby born
Nov: Got covid
Xmas and new years: Rushed to ICU with blood clotting in gut, variceal veins in my esophagus and internal organs issues. Doc said it was 50/50 id have made it if I didn't make it to hospital in. Spent a week in ICU
Jan-present: Written out of work till March 15th, cant pick baby up, can hardly walk, need a cane, basically housebound. Lost 45lbs but had aseities of the stomach (fluid build up), and every 10 days they had to drain (paracentesis) 20-25lbs of fluid from belly. Talk of surgery and transplants.
Feb 1st back in ICU for a week due to more bleeding. Still bloated and can hardly move/sleep/eat.
Late Feb the Doctor messes with my medicine, and things starting to look better. Says organs are regenerating, all other bloodwork looks normal, so now jut hoping that this flattens out and actually works...Feel great when I've been drained but its not a pleasant procedure, much rather do it with pills. I'm able to get out of the house for a bit, drive for a bit, And try and ease my way back into things, Go docs on Friday and gonna try and get him to write me back into work 11th of march.
So haven't been around much, read a lot but didn't even really know how to write this post as my life has changed 180 degrees in one moment. I have had tremendous support from the community that I live in and obviously my wife, so hoping the baby steps forward can keep going and lead a quieter somewhat more simpler life! I'm ready!
Cheers all
Dom

What is the fascination with pick up trucks in the States. I think the top 3 selling vehicles last year were pick-ups. Maybe one for @TheAuthority and @Dom_Wren?!
I think its a mix mate between culture and use.
I would not ever own a truck now, its great, can haul whatever I want, driving position great, got all the bells and whistles and a 6.7L power stroke diesel engine

Wow, sounds great! Ah, so you've already had arepas and aguadiente, yeah they're really nice. : > I'm hoping to be in South America next year too, in June or July, for the first time since 2012, but I'll be way down in Chile, in Santiago. If I make it out there it will be fun to watch a few Copa America matches in bars, especially one with Chile playing. I went to the States once too, to Georgia, the people were very nice and the nature I saw there is really beautiful!
I love Hispanic culture. My wife is of mexican heritage. I’ve found the Hispanics and attitude to be closest to England in many aspects.

Brilliant! : > Hope you get tickets, fingers crossed. Sorry for taking over your thread with my long 'shaggy dog stories' :s (including my two scary Latin America incidents), glad they haven't put you off! I was a bit risky and not very sensible by travelling alone quite a lot, it's good that you're going with a friend and that they're Colombian-American.
I can recommend a Colombian dish and a drink... I loved the regional dish of Antioquia (the Medellin region), it's called 'bandeja paisa' and it's a mix of lots of things, including black beans, tomato salsa, avocado and a very nice bread called 'arepa', which is made from cornflour. And I loved the national drink, which is also from the Medellin region, it's called 'Antioqueño' and it's an aniseed liqueur (like Pernod or Sambuka), 40%! :s I liked a Colombian beer too, called 'Aguila', it seemed to be Colombia's number one brand, I kept seeing it in places.
I've never seen an international match in South America, that must be great! However, I did get to see a first division league match in Buenos Aires, though not River Plate or Boca. It was Independiente v Lanus. What an atmosphere! Very lively!
all good brother, my mate was born in Medellin's communa 13 (pablo territory) and hes taken me to various local places here in the states. I love Arepas and Aguidiente!!
Im super jacked to go, well stay in the communa cos i love the local vibe, its supposed to be class, as long as you dont cross the other side of the main road. Literally!

Fantastic! Exciting! So are you going to try to get tickets to watch one or two of the matches?
yes! were gonna take a chance (going with my colombian-american mate) and go when semi final is in Medellin! So even if Colombia arent in it, we may get Argentina or Brasil!

Broad Street was a worthwhile place to out back in those days. It’s not any more and I wonder whether that’s reflective of a general decline in nightlife across the whole of the city centre. That’s not to say there aren’t still places to go, but 15-20 years ago, I’d say the nightlife was nicer, more expansive, had a greater volume of decent venues and was overall just better than it is now.
On Broad Street, I remember places like the Living room (expensive, flashy), Stoodi Bakers (late night, good music), Some Place Else (pre-drinking venue) for the club - Bakers (which was generally well respected on the clubbing scene); then there was The Sports Bar (for pints and a bit of sport with mates), Rococco and Risa (I remember seeing Hendrie, Bosnich and Ugo in there several times) plus a number of others that were respectable and good for a night out.
Then there was also the Arcadian. It eventually seemed to surpass Broad Street as the place to go out. Some people used to say it was pretentious, but I never saw it like that. I just thought it was a trendy place to go out with nice people. Then there were pockets of decent bars along places like Suffolk Street and Smallbrook, Summer Row, Regents Wharf, John Bright Street. Plus you had all the clubs Xela mentioned plus others (Steering Wheel, Bobby Brown’s, The Church, Liberty’s, Air)
And the on top of all that...places like St Paul’s Square, The Mailbox, Colmore Row and Brindley Place had good places in those days too, just like they do today.
Everything just seemed nicer and more high end in those days. I don’t get up there much these days, but when I do, it mostly seems a bit rough and there seems to be a lot less choice available.
met crouchy and barry down broad st. top lads! ill try and dig out the photo!

I think pubs and bars (be it gin, wine, cocktail, et al) and restaurants are better but i'm struggling on clubs? There is no big club nights that often in Brum, not like their used to be at the Sanctuary or Code or Que Club. Those were epic events. I think the whole industry has changed though
Broad St is a tip now, agreed, never used to be. Early 2000's you could have a good night out there... yes it was cheesy but that was part of the fun. I'd never go there again as its got proper rough. I do like the area around Bennets Hill/Waterloo Street now and around the financial district. Definitely my favourite area. Was close to buying a place there a few years back.
I guess its down to what you prefer - a few drinks and a nice meal and Brum today is better... a few drinks and getting off your tits to house or trance and IMO, it isn't as good!
I got into a massive scrap in a kebab shop on broad street with the owner. As he said British troops dying in the war was great.....

Charlotte FC getting act together to launch next season. Richest NFL owner David Tepper owns the team. One side of Rock hill where he bought 100 acres is already being bulldozed for panthers practice facility and numerous other ventures. They’re even building an exit off the motorway dor it
some of you may remember Alex Martinez who played for me. Well he’s been hired as CFC’s head of youth talent ID! So proud of him!
