Putting last season aside  (which we have to do now if we're to move forward) Bacuna is not a bad player at all.

He's more than capable at this level.

I feel for de Laet but it is what it is.

I can understand Stan's frustrations.. With what he's been through in the past few years it's an incredible achievement to get back to full fitness.

He'll always be a hero at Villa Park, but in this instance I back Di Matteo. It was blindingly obvious that Stan was miles off the pace in the summer and there's no room for sentiment in professional football.

Had we kept the same team as last year and not done any business at all this summer we'd at the very least have as many points as we do now.

That's the major worry.

I think he's fairly limited myself. Rousing the fans when there's a corner and screaming in the tunnel before the players walk out does not win you games.

That being said I'd rather him than Richards.

Not 100% sure if he's left of his own accord or if he's been told to pack his bags.

If it's the latter, that was such a classy statement to put out there by him. 

Sid just oozes class both on and off the pitch.

Would love to see him given a role similar to Ian Taylor if possible. Be a shame to lose someone who cares about the club so much

This international break can be used now to get him up to full fitness. 

Has looked a yard or two off the pace since he arrived.

Genuinely one of my favourite footballers of all time.

RIP Dalian, never ever will you be forgotten.

Time to cut our ties as he's simply not good enough and his attitude stinks.

One thing I will say though is that in years to come when his name is mentioned it will bring back some cracking memories as a Villa fan - goals against Blues, the winner against United at Old Trafford etc.

In addition to his defensive abilities he'll give us something we've been seriously lacking the last few years - a centre half who can chip in with a few goals.

Very pleased with this signing.

I didn't think it was within the realms of possibility.....

But Alan Hutton has disimproved since last year. 

Tonight against Luton is the perfect game to throw him into.

If he plays well he can then take that into two winnable games against Rotherham and Huddersfield and all of a sudden could start looking like a player again.

I don't care much for the 19 straight losses stat as he only played 15/20 mins at most in a good few of those games and was playing in the worst Villa side in history.

Now is the time to shine though and I'm backing him to do it 

He had a smashing game and his obvious weakness is his left foot.

Hopefully our defenders will realise this and play the majority of back passes on to his right.

Delighted we're getting £5m for him as every game is a nervy one when he's playing.

That being said he always gave everything for the shirt, which is a hell of a lot more than can be said for certain players with far more natural ability than him but who ended up looking every bit as weak on the pitch week in, week out.

I don't think there's a hope in hell the current squad will get promoted.

Won't go down either so I'd be inclined to agree with Holloway's prediction of 16th.
