Bruce is the sensible choice.
Wagner, while an interesting one, didn't pull up any trees at Huddersfield last season. Would he be given the time to implement his methods here?
Exactly. We'd be calling for his head by early December if he didn't hit the ground running.
Bruce for me too

Reading this thread it seems that lots of people have an obsession with getting us up and out of the Championship this year! This feels a bit unrealistic and honestly I hope to God the Board have a more realistic view of our dire situation. Let's write this year off as regards promotion and concentrate on getting the club on a level footing again ... I would like us to sign a young and promising manager - give him this season to start getting a new spirit and philosophy instilled into the team. I'd assure him that so long as we finish mid-table at the least his job is safe and that next season is the one! Let him invest this winter and next summer. I'm not sure who this guy should be but it could be the makings of both him and the saving of us as a club. So, no Bruce, no Pearson, no other middle of the road half successful manager. Thanks for reading :-)
I think after spending 60 million quid in the summer it's perfectly acceptable to be obsessed with getting out of the Championship this year.
That being said I don't think it's gonna happen.

So what does pogba actually do? He Drifts out of the game for long periods as far as I see and doesn't control a game at all. Bring back Paul Scholes.
Spot on. It's great to watch that near £100 million investment look dodgy. Couldn't happen to a nicer club

Did Michael O'Neill play attacking football when in charge of Shamrock? Obviously at NI he is often underdogs so has to be quite defensive.
He did domestically, but I agree with your earlier post that it's hard to compare the standard.
The first manager to get a side from Ireland to the Europa League group stages though.
He wouldn't be my first choice but I'd certainly choose him ahead of the likes of Cotterill

Has Michael O'Neill been mentioned at all?
Has worked wonders with Shamrock Rovers and Northern Ireland.
Not sure if he's the right fit yet but I can see him making a real impact in English club management at some point.

Gabby was waiting or at the very least hoping for this to happen. A new manager signals a potential fresh start, it's why he likely stood his ground when asked to find a new club.
I'd imagine his ridiculous salary had an ever so slight bit to do with it as well

Chris Coleman anyone ?
Good shout but I reckon he might stick this campaign out.
Can't see Wales not qualifying for the World Cup, by which time his stock will be even higher and he could get a mid table Premier League job at the least.

McCarthy would be a disaster, ask any Wolves fans
He got them promoted, kept them in the Premier League in his first season and had a few bad results in the second Premier League season.
As soon as they sacked him it went pear shaped with two successive relegations.

Also got Ireland through a group with Holland and Portugal unbeaten to get to the 2002 World Cup.
Not saying he's the best out there, but the evidence is there that Wolves were better off sticking with him (which IMO is also the case with us and Lambert)

Bruce for me.
If not Bruce I'd take Mick McCarthy. Proven track record of getting teams promoted and he's worked miracles with Ipswich with no money at all.

I know the fee was not his doing but we have been absolutely mugged spending what will eventually be 15 million on this lad.
Honest, hard working and half decent but 5 million is the max he's worth.
Same could be said for the majority of our signings this summer

Demolished last year. Had some good times there
A part of me was demolished when that building came down. Will never forget the party after the 5-1 against that lot

I swear the people who hate Gabby spend more time in the Gabby thread than the people who actually like him lol. WTF?
Was wondering why this was being bumped recently.
There's people who like him?

If you take the majority view................
Houllier worse than MON.
Lambert worse than Houllier.
Sherwood worse than Lambert.
Garde worse than Sherwood.
Black worse than Garde.
RDM worse than Black.
So, Yes, it could get worse.
I personally don't think Lambert was half as bad as some people made him out to be.
This all became clear as soon as he was gone

I seriously can't understand why anyone would dislike Bruce this much. I could literally use up the entire memory of my phone listing people in football who are less likeable than Bruce.
Totally agree. I've always found him to be very honest in interviews.
That being said his name doesn't rhyme with a car that Dr Tony can drive and we can make a song out of so it can't be him

Elphick made a show of again by Gayle.
Take him off and bring on Richards
-
We have definitely disapproved since last year.
Millions wasted on absolute rubbish
-
Horrendous, horrendous player.
-
Putting last season aside (which we have to do now if we're to move forward) Bacuna is not a bad player at all.
He's more than capable at this level.
I feel for de Laet but it is what it is.

I genuinely can't see him leaving a Premier League club to join us.
