Latest series of Slow Horses is as enjoyable (3 episodes in for me so far) as the first two. The Oldman character is vaguely in danger of becoming a caricature but it’s still very good.

Cuppa tea, slice of cake, comfy sofa and Wonka yesterday at Everyman. All enjoyed thoroughly. Not quite the film it could be but still very enjoyable.

I tried a burger from there to see what the fuss was about a couple of weeks ago
I would describe the actual burger as anaemic
Not looking to experiment there again
I used to love a trip to Timmy’s way back when I used to be in Canada a lot. It’s pretty poor over there these days but still a million times better than the slop they serve up in the franchises over here.

the old guy is even fingering the correct guitar chords:
Skim-read that post. Something about a cat and an old man fingering something. Specsavers visit required for me, I think.

"The Giant Wheel of you really don't want to fall off this because you could suffer at best serious injury and at worse DEATH" might work?
If I'm going to die because of a giant wheel, I'm fairly sure it''ll be a giant wheel of cheese.

You can bet that when he does have the massive heart attack, his base will be claiming exactly this.

Hiding things in the house for the other half.
She tells me she’s very observant so I sneak things in to see if she notices (kw).
After a recent trip, I printed off all the selfies she made must take onto little one inch square magnets. Anything and everything that a magnet will stick to had a tiny photo of me and her stuck to it. It made me laugh, it made her sigh. Still took her five weeks to find them all and she has no idea of she’s got them all or not.
Oh and her carefully curated Christmas tree also has some new ornaments. One of a mooning Santa and one a cat licking his bum.I’m a 50 year old man who hides nonsense around the house for nothing but my own amusement.

Saw this Friday with her indoors and two friends. I don’t think I’ve seen a film that divided opinion so much. I loved it, she liked it but felt it had too many gaps and the other two were didn’t like and hate. I initially presumed their negative opinions were just because it wasn’t their kind of film but they’re smart people who understand film and their objections were understandable, even if I didn’t share them.
We had a spirited debate about it but it was a really good reminder that art isn’t always about good or bad, it’s about perception, personal experience, individual taste and a whole bunch of other factors.- 1

Also I find it very hard to believe that in his cosplaying Churchill / moment of crisis he'd have willingly handed over control of the country to Dominic Raab for no good reason when he was getting to be on telly every night being In Charge.
An acquaintance who works at St Thomas was saying shortly afterwards that he had it but was never seriously poorly or in any danger and felt surprised that they were seemingly pushing the "Brave Boris" line because they thought it played well. Then again, he also likened Boris being in hospital to hiding in a fridge so who knows?

Man of the people.
Can’t get anything right but they somehow manage to get a video pulled from twitter within minutes. I can’t help but feel their focussing on the wrong things.

Some excellent ones in the thread. Craig Gardner's jumped out particularly.

Drury really annoys me! He's one of those commentators that thinks his job is try and 'elevate' the spectacle of the game by spouting a load of sub-poetic nonsense at key moments. Personally, I think describing what's happening on the pitch should be the priority rather than trying to create a viral soundbite or having cringeworthy bants with your great mate Lee Dixon/Carra/whoever.
He also has a habit of shouting any 'big' club's player's name (raHEEM STERLING!!!) just before they blaze the ball over the bar/it's immediately blocked by an opponent. Just wait and see what happens first, Peter. You're supposed to react to what's occurring, not pre-empt it.
I think he's only outdone by Sam 'You deserve this, we deserve this' Matterface in terms of the commentator I'm most likely to mute. The only one that really annoys me is Tyler’s “AND IT’S LIVE!”

Finished Bodies and Murder at the End of the World this week. Both around the 6/10 mark. Just about worth persevering with, neither nearly as clever as they think they are.
