    Eze from Crystal Palace?

Didn’t we have a nibble at him before he went to Palace and the feeling was he didn’t want to leave London.
Also, I have a feeling he’s made of glass.

When he’s on form though, he’s great. Not sure where he fits in our first team but he’s a great player.

Louis Theroux's Forbidden America. The episode about porn, "pegging," who knew. How to keep a straight face while talking to three scantily clad women, all wearing giant - size dildos, or how to keep your dick limp.

Giant sized? Looked average size to me

The far more annoying thing for me these days is the amount of people (generally younger) who have phone calls with their phone on speaker.

    I don't get it.

And they'll be holding it out directly in front of their gobs, apprentice-style.

I keep intermittently chuckling to myself whenever I think about that Willy Wonka event in Glasgow.  Especially the concept and presentation of ‘The Unknown’, the completely made up evil chocolate maker that lives in the walls.

    Could have been worse:

  5. As a modern man, I do my own laundry. One thing that never ceases to amaze me is that whatever pair of trousers go in to the washing machine, every single time they come out with one leg inside out. What kind of black magic is going on in there?

2 of mine now. I will bloody win this.

As a previous winner, I can say with certainty, it is but a fleeting joy to win. Not one single person will care. Well, apart from whoever was 2nd!

Has a manager ever been so universally disliked by players and fans alike as Gerrard?

Make a Subject Access Request to the data controller for the relevant camera. The ICO has ruled that a vehicle VRN is personally identifiable information so they can’t refuse the SAR on those grounds, also explain that should they not wish to release the footage all you really need are the entrance and exit times of your vehicle on that particular day.

Thankfully the concierge is a good guy. Always goes out of his way to help us with things. Possibly related to the large tip he gets every Christmas. If there's cctv footage, he'll find it. Unless, of course, he's the one that took my car out for a spin!

More worrying than the fine is that your car has been cloned

Do you have any evidence as to where your car was at the time? Video doorbell for example? Can you prove where you were and what you were doing? Also make sure you report to the police and the DVLA. Immediately report to the police and get a crime number (important) then report to DVLA quoting crime reference number

I'm presuming this a private parking invoice btw? I.e. one issued by a private company and not a council /police
Challenge the charge (because it is a charge and not a fine, it’s important to understand that.) and again include the crime reference number.

The police can check ANPR cameras across the country to see if the VRN registers in two completely different locations at the same time (or if it is impossible to get from one location to another in the time difference) so don’t think the police can do nothing. You may need to be insistent to make the police report and get it recorded as a crime but that is the toughest part of this.

EDIT: if you think this is too much hassle, stop that thought, it could keep happening

Have reported it to the Met. I suspect the reference is all I'll get there.

Will be reporting to the DVLA but apparently they only take written submissions so nothing will happen quickly there.

On the hunt for CCTV from the place I was parked. It's at the other half's place - secure underground residents parking (although how secure remains to be seen!). Hopeful the concierge might be able to look up the footage.

The PCN came from a private company and their blurb said I had 28 days from issue of the ticket to appeal. Clearly they wait until day 29 before the issue the letter. I will plead extenuating circumstances and see what difference that makes.

    Let's see how this goes.

  10. Could have sworn we had a consumer advice thread somewhere but seem unable to locate it, so I'm sticking it here for now. (Mods, feel free to move if there's somewhere better for this to sit).

Received in the post this morning, a £100 fine for not having paid a parking ticket last month. So far, so normal, except I've never been to the place where the parking infraction took place. At the date/time the ticket was issued, I was working at home, with my car in view through the window the whole time. The photo evidence provided is the same make, model and colour as mine and the registration matches but there's simply no way it could have been me. Annoyingly, there's no particularly identifying features on my car to distinguish from the one in the photo.

I'm guessing if I contest it saying "It wasn't me, Guv", they'll give me a fairly swift response of "don't care, pay up".

So, I could pay the fine as I don't have time for the hassle but I'm not sure what other options I have. Any suggestions?

Yeah, I think the tories need a complete reset and bunch of fresh faces. It's going to take them a decade to distance themselves from this shower, but step 1 is realising they have a problem, and they seem a long way from that.

I mean, that would be the sensible thing to do but I do think they’ve jumped the shark now. There are seemingly few sensible voices in the party and they’ve spent so long lying and confecting unnecessary culture wars that I’m dubious they have it in them. Their path is set and they appear to genuinely think their actions are supported by vast swathes of the country.

Really thinking people need to go off Twitter. I feel more and more like I shouldn't be on there. I keep thinking Musk is going to be bought out, but no. Anyone else twitterconflicted?

A few years ago, it was my go-to social media. I followed nice people who had good intentions and posted good things (imo). Since the muskrat took over it’s got progressively worse. My “following” feed is nonsense, mostly from people I’m not actually following. Many of the people I followed in the past are still posting but I never see their posts unless I go looking. I hardly ever use it these days.
I’m convinced it will be in text books in years to come, cited as the biggest sabotage of a useful thing.

I'm surprised he's still about in all fairness. I'd have thought a mixture of being found out plus being old hat would have seen him disappear by now.

I'd not realised he was Turkish until the other day when I was in Istanbul and walked past one of his restaurants (by the Galata Tower). It had a big cardboard (perspex) cut-out of him on the street outside with him standing in that deformed t-rex stance.

Restaurant was pretty much empty every one of the dozens of times I walked past it.

Just in case you were wondering, Donald Trump has launched a sneaker collection. And it's **** awful 😂

NGL, I’d totally wear them if it weren’t for who is selling them.

  15. Heading over at the back end of the summer to watch the US College football game with the missus as her Alma mata is playing. Seems Airbnb’s aren’t cheap.
any recommendations for slightly cheaper parts of town to stay?
Suspect we won’t have a whole heap of time there so will probably do the Kilmainham and Storehouse tours.
Her first time over there - what else is a must-do?

Oh and any fancy restaurants would be appreciated. I’ve a hankering for abrakebabra but I doubt she’ll be keen.
