  1. Was that about the manager or the ownership?

If it didn't convince him not to appoint McLeish, it is hardly going to convince him to sell-up is it?

Maybe we should protest again......see if we can get him back ?

  2. He played centrally or as a pairing with Kozak against Stoke.

It isn't where he plays that's the problem

Yes but as the second-striker. Weimann is best as a poacher I think. He is basically a more hard-working Darren Bent.

    ...couldn't lace Bents boots....ever

  3. 0-8, 0-4 and 0-3 in the space of a week, last season. Knocked out of a cup semi- final over 2 legs by a bottom tier team and chinned in the FA Cup by Millwall......now we get worse, week on week and still people can't see the wood for the trees ? Staggering to be honest, this clown has no plan A let alone a plan B. Without doubt the worse set of players in my 40 odd years of watching us - never mind the clowns of 86-87, this team has no spirit, no heart and even more worrying no ability - not a single 'leader' amongst them....frightening that some are saying 'what's the point in sacking the manager'......have we been dumbed down that much ?

  4. It baffles me why he sold Collins, fair enough he was looking to bring in a more youthful squad but NOT THE CENTER HALVES that is just suicidal. If we could only have a good backline I can take some positives out of this mess. Yes we brought in Vlaar but if we lose him we have no experience at the back whatsoever, which is what is costing us right now.

Our defence was a shambles, an overpaid shambles at that, I'm glad Collins, Warnock and Dunne went.

I find it funny that people are constantly picking out our defence for improvement, a defence that has much improved since last season apart from the last few games where Vlaar has been out injured. Vlaar runs the show at the back, simples, as soon as he'll back we'll be better again - just like last season.

Our defence has not improved - it is as poor as any I have seen in 40 odd years of watching us. Baker is dreadful, barely Championship standard. Clark is caught out of position frequently and Vlaar is usually to be found making last ditch challenges due the lack of any positional sense of any of our back 4. Lowton is half decent - however our left backs are all, also Championship standard at best. Same people are making same mistakes, week after week - God only knows what they do at Bodymoor each day, with our 'defensive coach' ?

Coupled with our paper thin midfield and lack of quality up front, I genuinely fear for what the rest of the season holds for us. The happy clappers would have us think otherwise but Lambert is taking us backwards not forwards.

  5. Sacking Lambert would be moronic ?....and ignoring all the work he's done ? Please quit with the happy clapping and hopeful jocularity. Clark, Baker, Westwood et al are completely and utterly out of their depth. As is the manager who doesn't have a plan B - actually the plan A isn't great either.

I keep hearing how we are improving from last week / month / season.....NO WE **** ARE NOT !!! This is a team that have had a real lucky start to a season where even the big teams are still feeling their way, we are still atrocious at the back, anonymous in midfield and Sunday morning standard up front. I'm still not sure if Lambert's transfer policy is based on either having no money to spend or him thinking he's a real clever ****.....either way it's not working. One way or another, a change is needed because this shite we are served up every week isn't acceptable....

  6. That's your opinion and fair play to you. My opinion is that he is not Premiership quality.

What was your opinion on Clark last year? Or vlaar? Conclusively saying someone isn't good enough after 12 games, especially someone as young as bacuna, is stupid. Unless they're totally unbelievably awful, which bacuna hasn't been.

.....do they not get Sky in Blackburn ?

  7. Buying less players for more would mean we'd have even more problems if injuries were to happen, though.

Injuries can happen at any time though. Better having the quality on the pitch when they are fit than watching the likes of Bacuna, KEA or say a Bowery play 40 games a season.....and I'm not just blaming them....just names I plucked out of the list of non-entities in our squad. It's a lack of quality that holds us back not a lack of desire....apart from yesterday of course.

  8. Yesterday, in the starting line-up only 5 were players he purchased. Here lies the problem, he had to rebuild a squad on limited resources. We can all spend day and night debating who he should have purchased. But we have bought through the likes of say Clark, Baker, Herd, Weimann, Gabby through our academies, are they really that good? Out of the squad that remained who should we have kept if we're being honest the squad was piss poor. We can say he's spent 43 Million, but 43 million on 14 players equates to about 3million per man which shows the market he is shopping at. He has his faults though, the shape and balance of our team is not right, and to have a lot of your kep performers not firing will cost you as it did yesterday. We have a tough period coming now, and this will be the make or break of Lambert.

....maybe he should try shopping elsewhere ? 7 players at approx £6m each would in all likelihood have served us better. Like most things in life, you get what you pay for.

  9. Aiden McGeady anyone? The papers seem to think we are still in for him despite his ridiculous wages and shitness.

    NO THANKS.

a pile of shit that isnt good enough for the Championship, id really question Lambert if we signed shit like him

    Ridiculous statement.

He would get a start in our team at the moment and plenty of other Premier League teams too.

However he is probably out of reach financially and if we did have that sort of budget we could probably get better for the money.

no way. I would actually prefer Albrighton or Brett Holman on the wing than McGeady. absolute dreadful player with zero talent at all. Even Stephen Hunt was a better winger for Ireland

If that is your genuine opinion then it’s pointless having a discussion with you.

Just hope the club never appoint you as a scout. [/quote

    That works both ways mate......

  10. Reading the article in full, together with fan comments, tells me more about Shrewsbury than it does about the player.....looks like they were hoping a young lad would give them a cheap goal scoring option, which rarely works at that level. He'll be better served by a Championship loan to a club that actually has some footballers rather than a band of journeyman cloggers.

  11. Strange that we are expected to 'write off' results against so called Big 6 teams ? OK no problem - however, the fact remains that against Newcastle and half of the Norwich game, we were **** dire with a capital D. Our defence hasn't improved one iota, we still look lightweight in midfield and with Benteke out, not sure where our threat will come from ?

    Other than that, everything's rosy....

  12. Is it worth remembering that this was our first game of the season against an 'average' team? And so the way Lambert set us up yesterday isn't necessarily indicative of how we'll play the rest of the season?[/quot

Really ? How do you think we'll play then.....he has set us up the same way every game since January. He is unlikely to change whether we're playing Man City or Morecambe....he's said as much himself - God feckin help us !

  13. Well back down to earth big time!

Not one player deserves to wear our shirt on this performance, they were all worse than pub players.

Guzan, will this guy ever keep a clean sheet? No need to answer.

Lowton, by far his worse performance in fact he didn't even look like a footballer.

    Vlaar, pfft Captain my arse!

Okore, sorry but this is a big step up for this guy, he is nowhere near ready yet.

Luna, more like Lunatic he was pathetic. Okay he didn't get much support but he was very poor.

KEA, same as last season he's just a very limited and average cheap squad filler.

Westwood, still don't get what anyone sees in this player.

Delph, did some things well in the 1st half but for some reason seemed to have a tantrum in the 2nd half and sat deep but just kept passing backwards while waving his arms. Will this guy ever play a game and not get booked? No need to answer.

Wiemann, I have no idea what his role is in the team and by the looks of it neither does he.

Gabby, Love the player but same as Wiemann. Oh and that miss was embarrassing, no chance of ever playing for England again if that's the standard he wishes to play at.

Benteke, He plays, he scores but at no point watching him do I get the impression that he wants to be at Villa.

Clark, Probably our best defender, god help us.

Kozak, this player has Bosko Balaban written all over him. To steal a quote from The Doc "if that player makes a professional footballer then my name is Mao Tse-tung" so bad was he debut that I never want to see his name on a team sheet again.

Tonev, what's the point at 88mins?

Maybe a bit OTT but even 13hrs after having slept on it I feel no better. For the 4th season in a row we will be down the bottom of the table fighting a relegation battle while playing horrible football at home, oh joy.

The Doc quote was about Dwight Yorke, I believe ? I confidently predict you'll be equally as wrong about Kozak......

  14. The manager should have moved Andy W to the bench at half time today - he hasn't been at it in any of our games this season (not sure why because I rate the lad) but hoping that a young player will play himself out of bad form is page 5 of the Crap Coaching Handbook.

  15. I know that you said that Stefan, but I think a few others may be barking up the wrong scapegoat tree when they're looking for reasons why we lost today.

Weimann and Gabby were brutally bad today, to the point of embarrassing. Luna got raped big style and the midfield looked as if they'd never met.....even allowing for all of this I thought we still had enough to deal with Newcastle and we should have done.

  16. Whatever his 'effort' today, if anyone thinks Benteke was our worst player today then you may wish to consider train spotting or cheese rolling as an alternative weekend pastime......he scored today despite the efforts of his team mates, not because of them....

  17. Predictably poor home performance - for all his good points, Lambert seems O'Neill-esque in his inability to recognise when we are getting mullered and how to rectify matters ?

Ben Arfa spent most of the afternoon tearing Luna a new arsehole mainly because he had no cover from a woefully out of form Weimann. But instead of shoring up the middle and sending Delph out to put Ben Arfa to bed we continued to get ruined down their right - then having sent Kozak on in desperation, no change to bring some service on for him and Benteke ?

Mind bogglingly Sunday morning tactics......against a piss poor Newcastle team. It's not a knee jerk response - we are getting to be 'unlucky' every week.

  18. we dont need to spend money for the sake of it, dont we still owe the lerner family quite alot?

we shouldnt spend because we have it, we should spend it if we really need to, we could be stable for half a season and not really need to strengthen, but if we get a major injury were down on our luck

plus im liking the idea of not buying from our league rivals, its simple maths that by paying extorsionate amounts to them for players is in theory making them stronger with the ability to buy better from abroad at a lower cost when we could be doing that

for whatever reasons lerner had for cutting the purse strings with oneill and not even letting mcleish near any lose change, there does seem more confidence in lambert

....you're shitting us yeah ? Lets not buy anyone from the Premier League because that will give them the money to buy the players from abroad that we didn't want to buy anyway ? Sounds like a plan....

The fact remains that despite the bright start, we are still woefully short of the quality (not numbers) to make any meaningful improvement on the last 3 seasons of stagnation. Lambert, Faulkner et al, need to start thinking Morrisons or Sainsburys instead of Lidl or Aldi - we know we don't shop at footballing Harrods but as in most things in life, you get what you pay for.

We got lucky with Benteke but even he cost £7m which probably equates to the cost of half our signings so far. I'm mindful of FFP regulations and all that cobblers, but please don't tell me that the money spent so far equates to our transfer budget.

We all know we're short and where - hopefully the 'professionals' do too ?
