Ah the insight of football forums, especially against English players not too popular among fans of other clubs.
Tom Cleverley just turned 24 years and he played 22 league games for the Champions last season, as well as 7 caps for England in 2013.
This season he has 16 games out of 21 in the league, although he is not the one to carry the team. When he has better players around him he will offer them a lot of energy and make their jobs a lot easier. Now, I am not saying he is the best player in the league but I can easily conclude a few things:
1. He is still young and very much a part of a squad that is MUCH better than ours. Which raises the question; why the hell would he leave Manchester United for Aston Villa?
2. Why would he leave in the middle of a WC season? He is getting attention and enough games to be in the sight of Roy Hodgson, he wouldn't even come to watch him at Villa Park
I have nothing against suggestions, but please make them a bit more realistic. And at least pick a player that is not getting games! Anderson and Zaha are somewhat gettable from United, but only an idiot would think Hernandez, Cleverley, Kagawa and Nani were available for a loan. Same with Ashley Young, James Milner and Juan Mata (are you kidding me?).
...thank f**k you posted this! I thought I'd signed into highcroft.com

only problem is Roger Johnson signed for West Ham on loan other day!Another window and apart from the link to an old player who's club don't want our money nothing of any real substance to report, no surprises there as we have been here many many times when it's action that is required sooner rather than later.
Arsenal on Monday, with only 1 fit centre half and as Lambert played the slowest right back in the universe ever in place of a talented youngster at CH I can only assume "we go again" head first into another depressing home performance. After all if Sheffield Utd's players new they could take the piss does anyone think Arsenal's team wont?
I'm not saying if we had brought someone like (and I spit 1st before writing his name) Roger Johnson who has Premiership experience that we would fair any better against Arsenal but the right player might just give everyone a lift so we could see that there is light at the end of this very dark and depressing tunnel.
I'm sure if we, the fans could "see" the plan or at least understand what the club are attempting to do in terms of improving Aston Villa then the whole atmosphere at VP on match days would improve. However the signing of very average to poor players sends out the message that we are not about to improve any time soon and we will continue to struggle, only bluenoses accept this as Villans we do not.
Average gates of 36k at home show what great support for Villa is out there as this is with the worst squad since 87 playing the worst football I have ever seen! If only they had something to cheer about, to get excited about instead of the fans booing and shouting insults at the team there would be encouraging words and singing, even in defeat as long as they witness talented players in C&B putting in the effort. Unfortunately we are a million miles away from this at the moment.
...I think you'll find that's why he mentioned him, or was that not immediately apparent ?

I say let's get Alan Wright to sack Southport off, and get him back as player/manager.
I think you'll find Southport were ahead of you there.....
-
For the money that's being bandied around I'd definitely take him......but apparently Burnley & Huddersfield are toe to toe to sign him ?
-
Jesus if we bid 10mill that would be too much, now it's too little and abused for that.
Typical.
If I go into a shop where I know a loaf of bread is £1 then it's unlikely I'm gonna offer £10 for it - equally, I wouldn't embarrass my self by offering 50p. No abuse - just common sense. Take your blinkers off - we're a shambles....

If all we can stump is £750k then let's not piss any more clubs about and antagonise them......just give some pies away at the next home game......just when you think these clowns have run out of ways to embarrass us....

Interesting.

"I have Wes Hoolahan scoop (the truth) from 10pm ish" - Mick Dennis (The Express, 5 Live, former Norwich City correspondent).[/quote
He's a Norwich City ambassador and supporters club president......what are the odds it won't portray us and/ or the player in a very good light ?

Wiemann has had plenty of games. He needs a break now. Maybe play some reserve games to try and get his confidence/form back. Give Helenius a run
....sounds like he's having a break now - out on the piss in Temple Bar, Dublin last night with Clark. Mind you, after the latest pile of dog wank they served up at the weekend, they could hardly nip in the Adventurers for a swift half or three.

Silence on these comments from Wes Brown-
http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/capital-one-cup-semi-finals-sunderlands-2994539
It's easy to dismiss a competition when you've already won it several times (along with league titles, FA Cups and Champions League medals). I'm sure if you asked someone like Bardsley or Fletcher if they fancied a Wembley final, you'd get a different opinion.

....perhaps he's picking up the keys for the new pad that his girlfriend and baby are going to live in - unless he ISNT the Chairman that the wicked witch Brady was referring to, in her Sun column yesterday ?

I'm not saying Weimann is like Bale or as good as Bale, just pointing out even the best players are not always consistent when they are young.
I remember for a long time Bale was criticised by Tottenham fans. He proved them wrong. Weimann has contributed about as much as any other Villa player this season - 3 assists and a goal - so the criticism lately is weirdly OTT.
I'm guessing he's the new Bannan. Everyone knows he has great ability but he's not performing at a world class level.
The main thing these two have in common, is their mutual love of the piss - hence the main reason, why one of them was bombed out to Palace and the other one is pissing away his career, up a wall, outside Gatecrasher. Lambo's plan to split the 2 amigos up has yet to come to fruition, hopefully it will soon ?

Ashes to Ashes would be more appropriate I think......
-
....absolutely pissing myself at some of the comments on here....'we are a better option than Schalke or Anderlecht'......Jesus wept, do you smoke or inject ? There is more chance of Stevie Wonder pitching up at Bodymoor Heath than Defour.
Comedy gold......

More than happy to see us linked with him. First pre- requisite ; is he better than what we have ? Considerably so, I'd say. Would deffo improve our midfield in terms of both experience and creativity - if the £1.5m being bandied about is actually true, even better. Go get him !

A tosser of the first water. On occasion, made us a laughing stock - anyone care to remember when he waved his transfer hit list around at a press conference and it contained names that Real Madrid and Barcelona couldn't have afforded between them.....complete charlatan who used the club to increase his own self esteem and profile. His only semi-redeeming feature has been to re-invest some of his ill gotten gains in various projects, most of which are titled 'The Doug Ellis Sports Centre', the The Doug Ellis Wing', 'The Doug Ellis Phone Box'.......easy to be a philanthropist with other peoples money......

Looked on great form with Nick. Postively regal. As for all this bitter talk about him yes he should have sold up around 2000 and yes he messed up in the mid 1980s, but under Doug we randomly challenged for the title, won 2 league cups, redeveloped the stadium (though should have kept the trinity road stand), promoted the youth set up, didn't become a Leeds or Sheffield Wednesday, and played in Europe a fair few times. So what did Ellis do for us?[/quoteWhich bit of my post regarding dismantling a team that won the league and european cup, and getting us relegated did you miss. As for redeveloping the stadium, I'll think you find Lord Justice Taylor took care of most of that - good old HDE, the inventor of the bicycle kick and Our first Director of Football - give me fookin strength......

I don't doubt your intentions mate, but please take this shit to Accountants Weekly or something, it has absolutely no relevance to how football works....

I can understand older fans than me who experienced worse really hating him but my only experience of villa are the premiership years. And to me they were pretty good and enjoyable times. Like I said the last two years were worse for me than any I experienced under Doug.[/quoteMine were not, his royal highness HDE was a prick of the highest order. Everything that AVFC ever did was a vehicle for Dougie boy to ingratiate himself with the great and good of the FA and eventually UEFA.
He dismantled a team that won the European Cup, and oversaw the relegation of the morons he got to replace them - even now on the BBC at 90 years of age he insists on telling us all on how 'he spent £120m and still the fans abused him'.
Good enough for the daft old fecker - I won't be missing him, no matter how bad fans think the current regime are, we're better off without this clown........stand by now for league position quotes from 1982-2006 inclusive....

What about bridcutt?[/quote
.....signing for Sunderland in next day or so apparently ?

Cheer up you miserable bunch of bastards. This time last year we were getting stuffed 3, 4 and 8 **** nil (with defending that makes this season's Clark and Baker look like McGrath & Teale) and we still managed to have a half decent second half of the season.
If we win on Saturday I honestly think we'll make 50 points. I think that's usually 8th-12th but exactly what position is down to the points totals of other teams (obviously). Shit do we need Vlaar and Benteke fully fit though.
If by 'half decent second half of the season', you mean getting knocked out of 2 cups by lower league opposition and being in a relegation dogfight until a week before the end of the season, then fair play. Personally, I thought it was a dreadful season......which is about to repeat itself. Keep up the good work Lambert.....

Answer is all of them hence why they arent[/quot
Congrats....you too are a tactical genius. Will you 'go again' too ?
If you don't think any of them could walk into our current line up then you are also as deluded as 'Taggart on Temazepan'.

Crowds and shirt sales are down because the shit being served up on the pitch is down. Raising price's is sure fire way for those things to drop further.
Crowd revenue and shirt sales just about cover stewards wages and the kit mans coffee bill these days. Revenue comes from TV and sponsorship.....and based on current form we are about as appealing as Jimmy Savile and Rolf Harris introducing Children in Need....

The thing is if lerner decides to be more ambitious we now have pretty much an entire squad that needs to be replaced.
Hmmm I disagree... I think if we were to buy 2 or 3 quality players in the summer we'd be comfortably mid-table. Then the summer after that bring in 2 or 3 more quality players and make a push for 8th.
But I don't see Lerner allowing that.
Lambert wouldn't buy 3 quality players. He would rather buy 10 shit ones for the same price
Don't be silly. I'm sure he'd much rather spend the money on better players but the money isn't there.
Imagine if he had have bought 2 quality 10m players instead of all the players he did. We'd have absolutely no squad depth at all. We'd be struggling more than we are now.
You have to remember we're still paying for Hutton, Ireland, N'zogbia, Given and Bent (when he gets back from Fulham). When these players are gone will he be able to replace them with better ones? I hope so.
The books are balanced whilst paying for all these. So when they're gone, we should be able to bring in better players who Lambert wants.[/quote
...and which one of the above 5 couldn't get into our current team ?...... If selected of course ?

You have to laugh.....Tom Cleverley, Premier League winner and England international, but strangely not good enough for us even if we could afford him ? Jesus wept, what do you drongos smoke ?
Have you seen us lately ? We look like a bunch of individuals who've never even met, let alone trained together. But let's keep dismissing guys who can actually play in the vain hope we sign a Jap midfielder plying his trade in the bottom half of the Bundesliga or a Belgian who barely starts in the Portuguese league. A bit more reality and a little less Football Manager I think....
