  1. If true, it's a bit naughty.....wouldn't have hurt to send a few of the so-called 'bomb squad' down there.....they are still on the payroll after all. That said, it is the Daily Mail so who knows ?

  2. What do you reckon the chances are - if we can't sell him - he might end up at a club like Melbourne Heart?

We (Heart) are looking for a marquee striker and his name was been linked a couple of months back. I think Heart could offer about $2mill fee max though..?

....somehow I can't see Liam Ridgewell allowing his kids to move that far away from him.....

  3. As we are discussing this era. I was a huge fan of Alex Cropley! Any opinions on him please?

My username should be a clue !!

Regarding your earlier post, IIRC Saunders tried Deacy, Williams and a couple of youngsters at RB ( i think even Ivor Linton had to cover during one game !) after selling Gidman.....then decided on the master stroke of converting Kenny Swain

  4. Swain was class. We all know that, He played with great players that won the league & European Cup.

Delaney did not play in a remarkable team surrounded by top quality players & it is for that reason that I choose Delaney over Swain.

    My order. Gidman, Delaney, Swain.

Also, Ron Saunders signed Mickey Pegic to play RB from Stoke prior to converting Kenny Swain to this position. Pegic was a mean son of a gun whose career was tragically ended by injury. There is every possibility that Pegic would have been ahead of both Delaney & Swain had his career not been aborted but sadly we will never know. He would not have been above Gidman though because he was truly sensational.

Swain was IMO streets ahead of Delaney, who was little more than a solid pro. Pejic was bought more as a left back, his position at Stoke. I think both John Robson (who could genuinely play both sides) and Earl Barrett were better than Delaney - however, a cult hero of mine was Kevin Gage who played a key role in our promotion team......not blessed with talent, but a head case in the tackle with a great shot on him......it's all opinions though isn't it ?

  5. A bit surprised mark Hughes hasn't moved for Ireland - he got the best out of him during his time at city and stoke would be be perfect match for him in many ways .

I'm sure he looks back on that 6 match spell with wistful longing......and then remembers what a w**ker he was and thinks like most of us.....never has been/is/will be a footballer......mugged us all...

  6. God get him out the club. He makes me angry just being here still. I notice people still saying he has the talent etc what are you lot drinking? The guy is pony

I'm with you mate......over-rated tosspot who once had 7 or 8 half decent games on the spin in an average Citeh side. How he got a 'Player of the Year' accolade season before last is one of the great mysteries of our lifetime.....

  7. He gets so much undeserved abuse here it's unreal. Sure his wages are too high and he needs to go as a result and he has never really lived up to expectations, but he never struck me as a player who just wanted to collect his pay check and didn't care about the football as is being made out constantly around here. It wasn't his fault he was on extortionate wages at City that carried over here. He's always been described as a player who works hard in training and despite his seemingly lethargic style of play this translated over to match days as well. And as for the revisionism as to why he won the player of the season award 2 seasons ago, I don't know what to say to that, it sure as hell wasn't a fluke. I'm sure the comments in this thread from that time would reflect that too.

Was it really his fault he was indefinitely dropped by Lambert even after putting in (relatively) good performances (Reading substitute appearance, and Bradford match come to mind)? No, but somehow that becomes another stick to beat him with. As mentioned by someone earlier, we can't try to hound him out of this club and at the same time go on about loyalty when it comes to Benteke.

You must have been one of those six people who voted for him as Supporters Player of the Season whilst everyone else was in bed....Jesus wept...this pikey no mark has never been a footballer....ever

  8. I think he'll be a straight replacement for Holman. Probably won't start much but add energy and workrate that we'll need at certain parts of games.

Difference with him and Holman is that he's young enough to improve on the technical side of his game.

The way I see this player aswell.

Surprised some think he'll be the answer to our attacking midfield issues considering the fans of his last dutch club didn't think he was up to much.

...surprised that you obviously don't rate him, based on random opinions and not seeing him play.......

  9. There isn't a Spurs played i'd take as part ex apart from Bale + 10m

Dempsey, Kaboul, Bale, Dembele, Sigurosson, Holtby, and Sandro would all be excellent players to pick up from Spurs.

    Let me translate that for anyone who doesn't recognise these names ;

Too old, Not good enough, Off to Spain, Inconsistent, Set Pieces Only, Who ?, and Injury Prone.....thanks but no thanks
