  1. In his post match interview he looked like he expects the sack. No

conviction left in him at all. Dreadful shame when I've always been so supportive of him, just like thousands of others.

Yes mate, so both of you keep saying.

  2. Yes indeed you have stated 'facts'....the facts that suit you. For us to get 11th would have required us to beat Man City and Spurs away whilst hoping that Crystal Palace, one of the current form teams of the division got nothing. Thanks for that, I hope we win the league next season - hopefully nobody else plays until June.

  3. We could really finish 17th. If we do then he's gone. I know it doesn't really matter all that much 'cos we're safe, but a finishing position of 17th is not acceptable.

Is one match against spurs the difference between acceptable or unacceptable?

    No,

Before today we could have finished 11th.

After next week we could finish 17th.

The difference between 11th - 17th determines what's acceptable. The table doesn't lie. If we finished 13th i'd take that. If we finish 17th then I wouldn't

No it doesn't, really....the only way we have got anywhere near 11th would have been an earthquake or plane crash.....we've been shit for so long now we're numbed to reality....

We were 6 points of 11th. We had 2 games left. Football is a game where anything can happen. Remember a couple of years we had Arsenal and Liverpool as our final games? People didn't give us a chance....  We won both games. It happens.

Give it up mate, you're embarrassing yourself......

  4. Bewildered at the 'we defended well' comments ?....we spent 70 minutes kicking the ball as hard as we could away from our goal, 10 minutes chasing lost causes with no forward threat and the rest of the time running around a bit hoping we could get in the way of their forwards.........

  5. Great news then apparently ? Only 4 ? I must have missed these great tactics where our defenders coped valiantly, our midfield battled hard, our 2 forwards worked the defenders relentlessly and by some great mystery we only let in 4 ? Whale spunk is less thick than some of these people...

It was only 2 until the final 5 minutes once Lambert had subbed off 2 defenders and replaced them with 2 attackers.

It was a good defensive performance. Against Man City. Think about that. If you expected us to whallop Man City to nil you are being very creditably optimistic but to blame Lambert for it not happening as you planned is very harsh.

Be assured mate, I did not expect us to get anywhere near Man City....the only thing that surprised was how long it took them to score. But to think they caught us on the break late in the game is as deluded as it is ludicrous....I can't recall us giving them any kind of problem. The very least I expect on behalf of the people who paid good money to go and watch that shite is some kind of attacking threat or plan.....we may as well have played 8-1-1 (maybe we did but I fell asleep)....

  8. Collymore wouldn't have a clue and neither would his "sources", like someone said earlier in the thread theres probably only a handful of people who really know whats going on and none of them talk to collymore or post on villa forums.

..be assured, he will have a lot more of a clue than some of the half wits on here...

  9. What makes you think it is Benteke that "wishes" for floaters?

HH said that he requested the ball to be played in that way as it's how he preferred to attack the ball.

...as opposed to the usual Westwood / Albrighton special which rarely beats the near post defender ?

  10. If he does keep his job, and gets given a decent budget, we will end up with another bomb squad of players he signed that don't have a long term future here

    Luna

    Bennett

    Lowton

    Sylla

    Tonev

plus the likes of Clark, Baker & KEA who are not good enough for a side trying to get into the top 10, Let alone compete with Everton/Southampton etc for top 8

We could easily shift most of them players,  if can't sell them then it would be easy enough to loan them out and have a championship club pay most of their wages.

Most of these are probably on £10-15k a week....not mega money in the scheme of things, but I'd be interested to hear which Championship teams would dig up £7-12k a week to take any of this lot on ?

  11. Leaving out the fact the majority of our performances this season have been woeful. Lambert should go because he failed to keep a handle on his trusted lieutenants.

Are people not responsible for their own actions?

Lambert is the manager, he should know what is going on!

Ever occurred to you it didn't happen in front of him? Bullying rarely does. Should he have mutant powers? See through walls, hear from miles away?

I wouldn't blame him for not knowing about any bullying allegations.....however, promoting your brother-in-law into a position like the one he had at a Premier League club, when he's barely kicked a ball himself, rarely ends well.....another error of judgement to add to the catalogue of shite he's presided over.

Those players are actually decent squad players though. And haven't those sat on the bench rather than bent, Hutton etc is far better for us.

Agreed - And what we need is a squad - these are part of the squad - just add quality to the team and we won't need to sell them at all - given more game time they could become better - Bowery had more than 15 mins on the pitch and had his best game for Villa after being deemed shit and not good enough. In the eyes of the 'experts' he probably still is.

That's twice you've been right this season - congratulations.

No they aren't, honestly. Lowton isn't bad and for all his detractors KEA works his goolies off. The rest of them ? I wouldn't feed 'em never mind pay 'em.

  14. Been watching some old villa footage from the 70s,80s and early to mid 90s. Was some really great moments and some low moments, but what stuck out for me is what a great old club we are. I watched the final replay v everton at old trafford where we won the league cup in 77, those vintage claret and blue shirts looked amazing and our support was top class. It was quite depressing in a way because football back then was great, everything about those days was what football was all about. Fast forward to now and you can see how much its declined. Anyway what I'm trying to say is that ok we might be in a rut right now but we support one of the true great clubs of english football. We really should be proud of our history and what aston villa meant to football at one point. I watched some old games at villa park against the likes of barcelona, juventus, man utd and watched the full game against inter when phil king put away the penalty to send us through. The atmosphere that night at villa park was something else, the crowd was totally with us and totally against the italians. Yet again I felt a bit depressed as I forgot how great and unique the old trinity road looked and all the flags that were being held up all over the ground. There is moments that this club will never see again like the intimidating holte end where thousands of people would be swaying about, which resembled a tidal wave. But I must believe we can be a force again, we are a big club with the potential to be a monster, we are a very proud club where very few clubs can match our history and tradition. Everything about our club tells us that its one of the great clubs of world football. We are desperate for someone to come in and take us where we need to be, I'm not saying winning trophies all the time but putting the excitement back into this club and challenging the other top clubs. If we can get things together behind the scenes then start to get a team together on the pitch I really believe in a few years we can be challenging the top 4. We could be averaging 45k to 50k no problem, our fanbase is very big. We live in reality at the moment and its shit but I want a bit of glory. I want to feel like I did when I was watching those great games from our past. We forget how lucky we are to support such a great club, we need those great days back and I know in time it will come.

I'm with you mate.....we'll be back.

  15. one thing about the pub training, training facilities - these were Ellis plans - that Lerner pushed the button on - He didn't seem to have any of his own ideas - or if he did, he didn't have the drive to push them through.

I don't think Lerner is a bad bloke - he just knew nothing about football - but then wouldn't appoint a CEO who did ......we are all looking at $ $ at the minute - but arguable expertise is more important, as we aren't likley to get an owner who blow clubs out of the water with his money....[/quote

Ellis plans ? Dougs only plan was to elevate himself high enough into our consciousness to make us believe he was some great benefactor. If Ellis could have got away with changing our name to HDEFC he would have done so. He refused to spend any money on our training ground whilst turning his own office at VP into a replica of Imelda Marcos' bedroom. He drove past the Holte Pub every day for 20 years without giving it a second thought. The only thing at Villa Park these days sadder than seeing Nathan Baker in a shirt, is the sight of a lonely old man climbing up and down the stairs to his leather padded seat, because he has nowhere else to be.....the fact we still have a stand named after him turns my stomach.

  16. To be honest I'm with BJ10, I've never been convinced about him. I sometimes think that after watching the likes of God, Laursen and to a slightly lesser extent Mellberg, we're all desperate for a hero type centre back. Vlaar ain't that, albeit he hasn't had the best of defensive partners.... I still recall the time when we signed him and Feyenoord fans were on some Villa fan sites taking the piss. At the time I just thought it was sour grapes but maybe they had a point ?

    What the actual ****?
Which bit of the 'actual f**k' didn't you grasp ?

  18. Too many insipid performances, awful home record, 8-0 beating, no idea of best team or formation most of the time, getting knocked out of cups on a consistent basis by lower league teams, baffling us with his mumbled responses after matches.....for all these reasons and more, bye bye Paul.

  19. Minimum £250k a week on the wage bill ? Yep, that will be happening real soon...Jesus wept......as it happens I think they're worth it but I'm fairly confident my opinion won't be shared at Trinity Towers...

  20. Dear new owners and manager:

    Keep:

    - Guzan

    - Vlaar

    - Okore

    - Bertrand (buy)

    - Bacuna

    - Westwood

    - NZogbia

    - Gabby

    - Albrighton

    - Delph

    - Benteke

Sell the rest and build from there.[/quote

    Dear new owners,

Ignore the above. Keep Benteke when fit, not sure about Okore yet and there's no way Bertrand will want to stay with us. Get rid of the rest ASAP.

    Thanks
