Mount has better players around him for a start. Willian is class.

For Villa to keep Grealish long term we need to start signing better players to support him. Proven class.

I think if we stay up which I think we will and probably comfortably too. I can see in the summer a massive push from our board to get some real quality in.

  2. It’s about perception as much as anything, he is our best player by a country mile and he is our only player including mcginn that is irreplaceable. A huge contract shows ambition to keep our best player, makes him even more expensive for other clubs and actually rewards him for his performance in the premier league.

Im sure his contract was a fantastic championship contract and I imagine he was easily the highest paid player but this is the premier league and he deserves the best deal we can offer. As for the other players then it’s simple, match his skill and influence and similar money will follow until then you get what your worth.

I believe Barca renegotiate with Messi almost every year so why wouldn’t we do what we can to make our best player happy. (And no I’m not saying he is as good as Messi)

'Grealish is far better than Villa'

Ex-Wales midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

Aston Villa what are they going to achieve? Staying in the Premier League.

If they achieve that it is going to be a great season for them, they are not winning a cup.

If Manchester City, Spurs or Chelsea come with a massive offer for Jack Grealish, let’s say £80m, I think he’ll go.

He’s far better than Aston Villa.

    I hate Savage.

The lol in this conversation is Tottenham. A side that hasn’t won a trophy for 12 years and that was the league cup 1991 is the last time they even won the FA cup. In that time they Wigan have won the FA cup and Leicester have won the league. To put spurs in the same sentence as clubs like Man City and Chelsea who have actually won stuff us laughable. Plus spurs would actually have pay money to get him which is a problem for them. Clearly having a nice ground and winning nothing makes you a big club!!! Joke club

  4. I think as good a servant as he has been for us in terms of loyalty if not playing ability (thinking about that penalty he gave away against reading) I would say this is business and getting a few million back given his age at this point we should be snapping hands off.

Interesting.... like I said I have nothing to base my opinion on but a hunch. Looks like his club have priced him out of the deal anyway.

Side note: Wembley tour worth doing? I fancied it over the summer.

Agreed looks like this won’t be happening and yes well worth doing the Wembley tour

Dunno why but I’m not fussed about this one.

Not that this counts for much but i was on a Wembley stadium tour on Saturday and the was 2 guys from Egypt on the tour. I asked them about this guy and they both said he is nearly as good as Salah. I guess that’s to be expected really but they did rate him highly

We still have Jack, John and thankfully now Tyrone.

For me, along with Tammy and Axel (who we have been unable to bring back due to circumstances beyond our control) they were probably the most crucial components to our success last season.

To those, we can add players that also made big contributions such as El Ghazi, Hause, Elmo, Steer and Conor, so we have retained as much of the nucleus of last season's squad as was feasible. We have also added some quality players to these and will add some more.

It's a pity last season's squad had to be broken up and the whole squad have earned their place in our club's proud history, but time doesn't stand still and difficult and harsh decisions did need to be made following our promotion.

As you have so rightly said, we are currently having great fun and we have made some exciting signings already. I'm confident that the players we have retained along with Dean and his staff, can get our new boys quickly integrated and firing effectively by the season start. The changes we have needed to make can work for us, we're not Fulham.

We are not Fulham and I can’t see us changing manager 3 times in a year. Plus they essentially brought in a load of players and tried to work out how they fit as oppose to what I feel we are doing which is buy players to fit how DS wants to play. Also they dropped Cairney who I know is not as good but is almost time us dropping Jack which I think really effected them by driving a wedge between new and old players.

  8. Guillem Balague says he is a “top top player” if that’s true that’s all I care about, couldn’t care less about by back clauses etc. If he fits into our style of play and is a significant improvement on what we have there right now than I’m more than happy.

  9. I see this as a good signing for the style we want to play and I see him having no trouble fitting in to our side straight away. For the money paid I think it’s a solid signing.

Also noticed Southampton have used the money already to sign Adams for £15 mill. Can’t help feeling the scum have had there pants pulled down a bit there. £15 mill for one of the top championship strikers and he is only 22.

Very laboured. Passes telegraphed. They can see what we are at a mile off. Axel needs to come forward more with the ball. He'll play through them. Tammy's workrate off the ball isn't good enough so far. Not making Hegazi and Bartley move really to allow others space in behind them.

I don’t dislike Tammy but Gayle is the best striker in this league has been for years

  11. Massive sympathy for the supporters seeing the issues with this club. I think along with the premier league money killing teams that once were established premier league teams, Bolton like Wigan and others in greater Manchester are starting to suffer crowd wise from the man city effect. I imagine it’s hard enough to stop supports going to watch united but now they have city to contend with too.

If Stoke can get an equalizer at Boro and the rest of the games stay the same it would make for a good set of results all round

Our goal difference is 11 better than anyone near us so that’s worth another point
