  1. I was wondering how the guy was doing? No surprise to me. It makes me laugh when I read that he was a star in Poland. He has never been a star in Poland, never first squad player for Lech. I say that as Legia Warsaw supporter. Had had shown some signs for being promising player, but never was going to be top player. All the best Villa.
  2. CrackpotForeigner at 1:14 PM "A few", of course. My native language is Polish, English is not my first foreign language. Was it your honest remark ?
  3. CrackpotForeigner Yes, I'm the geezer who invented the term "Atomic Strike". I said I was going to check Russian websites, what they were saying about Ivelin Popov? I don't know if it was already posted? In the middle of September Krasnodar wanted 10 million euros for Popov from Villa. They say now Popov will be sold in January next year and that few top clubs are interested in the player.
  4. Hi I'm Polish guy who registered here to run with the news about Villa interest in Ivelin Popov some time back. Today a thought - what's going on with Tonev, how is he getting on at Villa? Never made a post about the guy before. Read the topic and not surprised that he is unpredictable future. When heard the news that Villa want him I asked myslef a question: What do they see in him that I can't see? Anyway, I hope I was wrong and Villa scouts were right. Wishing the lad and Villa well. Going to check Russian websites to see how is Ivelin Popov doing?
  5. BG_Villa_Fan I checked again and must apologize. You are right. He said: I stay at Kuban and going to extend my contract. Decision was made and will not change.
  6. BG_Villa_Fan No, there is no:"I intend to renew my contract". He said that decision at the club was made and he stays with the club. He added that this decision will not change.
Literal translation: Popov - If you will play well, you will get offers. Kuban let the players go, if conditions (of the move) satisfy all sides. Aston Villa offered me good personal contract, but bid made to Kuban was small. People who are responsible for team's future told me: Perchik (Popov's nickname , SE note) , this is not going to happen.
  8. Russian media sport-express.ru spoke with Ivelin Popov. Interview was published one hour ago. In short words: Ivelin Popov confirmed that Aston Villa made a bid for him. Popov got good personal contract but transfer sum offered to Krasnodar was not at the level the Russians could accept it. Kuban Krasnodar knocked back Villa's offer.
  9. It's all about opinions. Just to give better picture who Popov is. Popov is 11th striker in Russian Premier League for 2012/13 season Ivelin Popov , Kuban Krasnodar, attacking midfielder, playmaker, winger 9 goals 2 assists 176 minutes per goal , not one goal from penalty Samuel E'to Anzi Makhachkala, forward 10 goals 7 assists 219 minutes per goal, not one goal from penalty Kevin Kuranyi , Dinamo Moscow, forward 10 goals 2 assists 211 minutes per goal, not one goal from penalty Younes Belhanda , Montpellier , attacking midfielder 10 goals 5 assists 238 minutes per goal
  10. Sportline.bg interviewed Ivelin Popov TODAY 14:13 BST Sportline – What about your future? Kuban Krasnodar Sport Director told Russian media that they are not going to sell you? Popov – If he said that, I take his words as a credit to my work for Kuban. These words mean that they value my play and want to keep me at the club. What is going to happen? Time will tell us. On June 15th I will join Kuban Krasnodar team at the pre season camp in Austria. Due to the game I played for Bulgaria I have five additional days of break. I like the game we play in Russia. Where I will be next season I will know until August 31st. I have no idea what is going to happen until August 31st. I stay calm and don’t want to move for every possible price. I feel happy in Krasnodar, people at the club and supporters like me. Sportline – We heard that Stilyian Petrov called you and informed you about the interest from Aston Villa. Can you tell us more about details of this conversation, what exactly did he tell you? Popov- First, I got text from my private source telling me that the big club is interested in me. There was Aston Villa name in that message. Despite short information I got on that day, there was nothing concrete. Some time after, when I finished training I noticed three missed calls from Silijan Petrov. I understood it was something important. I called him back and he told me about serious interest from Villa. Stiljan asked the question, what would be the transfer fee that could secure my move to Villa? Sportline – Do you have offers from any other clubs? Popov – I have two agents who work for me. Yes, few more clubs are interested in buying me,and I have concrete offers but giving the names of these clubs would not be fair.
  11. I think that Villa's negotiations with Kuban Krasnodar about Popov move might be not easy to run. Kuban President : Ivelin Popov would like to play in England and if good offer comes we can't stop him here. Kuban Sport Director: Ivelin Popov is our player and he will stay with us for next season. Mordovia Saransk President - Dorinel Munteanu has one more year contract with us and we expect to see him here tomorrow. News from Kuban Krasnodar - Dorinel Munteanu will be our new coach from tomorrow.
  12. To make your translation clear. Sergey Doronchenko - Sport Director of Kuban Krasnodar told the journalist (interview) that Ivelin Popov is not for sale despite interests from other clubs. He will stay with them for another season. **************************************************************************** This might be Kuban play to rise the proce for the footballer. When they qualify for League Europe competition, they told supporters that were not going to sell any players. The plan was to strighten the team. P.S. That was interview that Doronchenko gave to the press yesterday. I thought this meant not much for the negotiations between two clubs.
  13. Jarpie I wrote about Blackburn and work permit. That was from an article in the Bulgarian press. I don't remember details of your policy (I'm the Pole from Warsaw) but remember that even when Bulgaria and Romania joined EU, there were some restrictions regarding job for people from Bulgaria and Romania in the UK. Was there not a list kind of :nurses-Yes, doctors-Yes, constructions workes- No, uless work permit...etc. "Rights and Responsibilities of Nationals from Bulgaria and Romania from January 2007" , I guess.
  14. Ivelin Popov was a guest in so called "Niki Kynchev show" (Bulgarian Radio) today. Popov told: "The plan is that I have 10 days rest, then I should be in Austra on 15th with Kuban Krasnodar, on pre season preparations camp. I feel very well in Krasnodar. Both, Kuban and Villa are negotiating my transfer and if they find agreement I will move. I'm not determined to move for every money. I stay calm and waiting".
  15. I forgot. When I found the news about Villa and Popov, that was on 31st of May, I read article where the journalist said that clubs who shown interest in Popov were: Villa, club from London (no name given), club from Stambul (no name given), Dynamo Moscow and Dynamo Kiev.
  16. I just watched Ivelin Popov giving interview to Bulgarian Press Agency In short words: Stiliyan Petrov told me that Aston Villa are watching me and that their interest in buying me is very serious. Now everything is in God’s hands, the matter of time and how the negotiations between two clubs will go. My contract with Kuban Krasnodar is valid for another two years. I guess the price for me might be high. If Villa and Kuban find mutual agreement and Villa offer me good conditions of the contract I will move to Villa. Looks like clubs are already in talks.
  17. Not much about Aiden McGeady possible transfer here. Few days back he gave interview to the Russian press and told that might be going to England. He said: I don't exclude that Spartak will sell me this transfer window. They may wish to get cash one year before my contract with the club expires. Russian media told that Villa, WBA and Sunderland (in that order) shown interest in McGeady. Russian media estemated possible move for 5 up to 6 million euros.
  18. This is last Krasnodar game and wonderful goal from Popov that gave them League Europe this Year. Kuban-Anzhi 1:0 What a finish! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wsHg58_Erh8
  19. Players from that list: Bobras Natkho - Rubin Kazan Mbark Boussouffa - Anzhi Makhachkala Alan Dzagoev - CSKA Moscow Ivelin Popov - Kuban Krasnodar Viktor Fayzulin - Zenit St. Petersburg Keisuke Honda - CSKA Moscow
  20. I just read interesting article on Russian soccer.ru website. Website writes about six most influential footballers playing in Russian League this season. Ivelin Popov is one of these six guys. Portal says that without doubts he can be transfered to one from Bundesliga or Premier League. Website sugest that club from these leagues are interested in buying Popov. He played great season for his club Krasnodar. ............................... I remember somebody here said that he remembered that some time back Popov was close to signing for the club from England. I don't know which club the poster meant but I know for sure that when Blackburn played in the Premier League they wanted him. The problem was not enough games played for Bulgaria by Popov at that time and no work permit.
  21. Okay, guys. It was me who informed about Villa interest in Popov. Legia Warsaw fan and the Pole here. Re. Popov - no changes. He is in Kazakhstan with Bulgaria team. I understand Villa wnat him. Probably nobody mentioned that he is (was) Bulgaria captain. Re. Tonev. Yesterday I said what I heard, that he was going to have medicals in Birmingham today. Absolutely no news about Tonev in Poland. I don't know where he is, if the news about Werder Bremen interest in him is genuine? If Tonev was in Glasgow, then in Birmingham, after that in Bremen, he will probably be in Italy tomorrow. Strange what is happening, but I have no clues what is going on now with Tonev deal. He played his last game for Lech and that is for sure.
  22. PaulMcGrath_5 Only Tonev. Bulgarian TV anounced deal done by Thursday. Tonev told his teamates fromLech that will sign for Villa. Today or tomorrow morning in Birmingham.
  23. Tomorrow morning medicals, contract signing on Thursday.
