McGinn was bang on it today, barely put a foot wrong.  The Irn Bru works for him.  Nice grundies too.

Tielemans, Cash and Digne were all also very good.  Thought Doug and Kamara were a little quiet today by their standards.

I'm probably in a minority but just not impressed with Diaby.  Poor final balls, especially crosses, and seem peripheral for a lot of the games.  Maybe I'm missing something.

Just checking, have you missed his three goals, three assists and two occasions when he has pressed a defender into scoring an own goal?

  2. We’ve played a handful of games at home and a handful away so far this season. It is perhaps a bit early to be talking about “form” at either locations, certainly not enough to back up some of the long dissertations we have here about what is “going wrong” away from home.

Let’s see how things pan out over the full span of this very exciting season. It doesn’t seem too bad so far.

  3. Quite an uncomfortable match, we controlled play a lot but didn’t really have a cutting edge in front of goal.Watkins was weirdly out of it much of the game. Superb goal when it mattered though.

I had to watch the first half with no sound so I never heard an explanation of why Lenglet’s goal was disallowed. I watched it being replayed over and over but still couldn’t see what VAR did. Mystifying, and it would probably have made it a much easier match if it had stood.

Thought Digne, Tielemans, Carlos, Kamara and Lenglet had good games but, as I say, while the Conference starting XI play nice football, the route to goal tonight seemed unclear. The real difference was made by Douglas Luiz so he gets my MOTM. Excellent subs by Emery late in the game.

We know what we need to do against Legia on 30 Nov. Onwards and upwards!

Wrong. Every game is a "must win"

Man City who are currently top lost two league games in a row. Any team can lose a game from time to time. It’s how you recover and consistency over the season that secures a top 5 slot, not regarding everything game as “must win”

I look at Emery with us the same as when Spurs had Poch.  He transformed Spurs into a club that could compete at the top, we are on a similar trajectory.  He was constantly linked with United during that time, but Spurs had the money and ambition to keep him, so do we with Emery.

Interesting comparisons. Reading through this thread, it seems many posters are thinking of Unai’s residency with Villa  in terms of Poch’s Southampton gig rather than his time at Spurs.

It suggests many don’t believe out improvement is really happening in a sustainable way. Understandable given the trauma of the past 20 years.

If Emery leaves for Man U, presumably we can just hire Poch when Chelsea sack him. 🙂

Was giving him motm until Diabys goal and his role in the own goal. Imperious display

Love this thread. Of course, Torres was responsible for the own goal. 😂

And then people get snippy when accused of making him a scapegoat.
