Little for me just tried to fix something that wasn't broken. 5-3-2 had worked very well for us. Of course signing Collymore was supposed to push us onto that next level and he tried to accommodate Yorke, Milosevic and Collymore in a 4-3-3, which just didn't work out.
I'm too young to remember Little as a player, but some of best memories of being a Villa fan are when Little was was the manager.
Only had that one league cup to show for it, but we destroyed Leeds that day. DESTROYED!!
that year we were superb. 4th spot, semi final of the cup, winning the other - fantastic. then the UEFA Cup quarter finals the next year and he got the boot?!

You don't know this for certain
If the club genuinely view him as a top end talent worth in excess of £6m - unless you're suggesting we're staying up - then yes, its certain
-
Get him used to the Championship - maybe sound out one or two of Forest's better youngsters "when Villa drop.... fancy it??"....
And lets make sure we stay there for one year only.......
-
how much of a difference does it make?
strangely for where I live, relegation would be a bit beneficial to me - games at Reading, Cardiff, Swindon (poss), Bristol City (if stay up) mean 4 quick access away games for me...
I never get the argument of how its bad for the fan - really to the fan it makes no difference except what show to watch on a Sat eve

Southamptons youth academy is phenomenal for quality - but they spend a monster amount.
They have youth teams situated all over the country - they pick up players everywhere and find gems. They recruited (15 years ago) the best youth coaches to do this and spent a fortune setting it up.
Ours is still very much as it has been - using locally based kids mainly and then add in when reaching U17+.
We're behind the times now in regards of this - our youth academy isn't as revered as it was.
-
Stoke and Liverpool were in for him when we got him - they won't have forgotten.

I think that's a mistake personally.
I agree.
Not playing regularly - we need to see what he can do in that division, because he's not going to be a Premiership player next year.

I find it bizarre that people actively hate others who have tried to succeed at our club. Lambert's failing was that he ended up not being good enough. What a terrible person, eh? Hate. Unreal.
Brian Little had hate from people at the end of his time here.
Brian **** Little should never get shit from Villa fans - ever. Same category as Paul McGrath and Franz Carr for me. Untouchable.
Maybe not Franz.

I'd loan him to the Championship if we're not going to play him regular - just to see if he can cut it there.
This sort of thing we need to know for next season - who can and who can't.

So it's worth me placing a bet on him ending up at Aston Villa @ 16/1 - which is currently showing on SkyBet?
I cant get on it in work - a colleagues phone shows (still) 1/10 on AV, 2/1 Watford, 3/1 Palace, 7/2 Chelsea

To be fair, they seem switched on when it comes to sport, so I assume so.

Adebayor on his way in apparently
Bookies have cut us to 1/10 to sign him over the last 30 mins or so.

If we don't come back the first season, we're there for a long time.
I don't believe the current setup would get us back at the first attempt

I assume the op means mathematically? Impossible to predict at present but I'd say sometime in March because the shit of Sunderland, Newcastle and Bournemouth will keep us...well..'in it'
that's exactly it... which fixture is the one that at full time we can't get out even if we world wide web the season

Well its half time and we are 11 points behind, well 12 including GD.
10/1 to stay up!
1/25 for relegation!
Says it all really.
I had a 300-1 Acca come in once, spent it all on shit.
True story. But hey - 10-1 isn't that heavy.

He should play because for those paying to get in, its more entertaining watching him run at players than it is Ashley Westwood passing sideways.
Nothing against Westwood, but we're done in terms of our survival - it should just be about entertaining those who pay to watch it from here on in.

Bit of prediction game really - as hope has all passed for me (and reading posts, quite a few others)...
Who do you think puts our nail in our coffin?
I think it'll be the Southampton home game on 23 April...

Ray Wilkins was on Sky for the Newcastle or Arsenal game and they were talking of Richards being out and he said (along the lines of) - hes the only one who talks in that dressing room, he's their leader...
he's the captain of the side, might be playing like a pr*ck but how many of them aren't?!?

Patrick Roberts signed for City for 12 million. He has done a lot less in his career than Jack
The key is he signed for City - City don't pay book price for anyone unless theres a clause that allows it.
Done a lot less but also a lot less of the negative headlines. We wont get big money for Jack - that's for sure.

Leicester would be a good fit for him...he will struggle in the championship anyway, £15m should be enough to force Lerner's hand .
you're mental if you think we'd get £15m.
£6m - tops. and most of that after various clauses.

Jesus. Is this our future? Losing 2-0 to Bayern away in the champions league?
Wenger's protege OUT
or
Woohoo... Is this our future, winning 2-0 to Arsenal in the champions league at home?
The French Guardiola IN
If were playing in a competition in the next few years that starts with champions and doesn't end with 'hip' then it will be a minor miracle.
your definition of minor falls way below the commonly held one.

At the moment should be an impact sub with 30 to go, his pace will scare tired defenders
his pace will frighten fully fresh defenders!
that's the one thing you can't do anything about - if the guy is faster than you, you can't cheat and push up beyond him - you have to sit back.
man citys fullbacks push on like no ones business and the midfield will be overrun even if we play 5 in there - so play the speed wide and the first time we break and their fullbacks are up - hit the holes left behind... they'll soon stay away and we'll only have to deal with 3 world class players and delph in there.

I was chuffed when we signed him - thought we'd got ourselves a guy who'd played top end football for a long time, would help our lesser experienced guys develop - I genuinely could have seen him heading to Liverpool/Everton etc and never in a million years been in a relegation fight.
He's not a great centre back, hes the only one we have with any pace though. Okore is quick in a straight line yes, but milk turns quicker.
Captain - well hes the loud one in the team. I cant imagine the thought was to have him as the only loud one / vocal one however. I think we missed on a couple of other signings in the summer that has led to it. The suggestion a few pages back that we'd spend money on guys without knowing about their character is sheep shit frankly.
