  1. Yeah but on the other hand, a decent wing would be more likely to be a certain starter for England given our lack of depth/talent in that area.

Actually, what am I on about? With MJ in charge they'd be probably wouldn't get a look in and go the way of our other exciting options, Strettle and Sharples etc.

Would bloody love North, Hook or Warburton playing for England.

I cant believe you lot have taken Hape to the tournament after his performance in Cardiff.

That was individually the worst performance I've seen from an Englishman in Cardiff in many years.

  2. The fitness levels and preparation of the current welsh side is phenomenal - i cant remember seeing a better prepared welsh side going out to a world cup.

mike phillips must have shed about half his body fat looking at him.

that win over england in cardiff showed wales can mix it with people coming with a physical approach

I will take your word for it, you would have a better idea of their condition than I do.

The England side you faced that day though is nowhere near as physical as the sides you are set to face. It is also different playing one phyisical game to playing 3 of them.

There was a program on BBC Wales (obviously biased!...) the other night that showed theyre going out there as probably the fittest possible.

I appreciate the differences in physicality - but getting pounded into by a 16 stone centre wearing an England shirt is about the same as they'll be facing on Sunday - except of course the accent and clothing!

Samoa/Fiji - Wales should be ok - but thats the same old story - set piece side of the game we'll kill them - in the scrum we'll beat anyone as long as Adam Jones is in as Paul James and Gethin Jenkins are both very good scrummagers.

I fancy our chances on Sunday - we're better than them in the scrum, Beast will get his ass handed to him from the first whistle and will end up coming off just after half time. I just worry if Davies / Roberts in the centre are too much alike.

Anyways - still think England will do well, but Australia or France to win it, for me.

  3. Hope that we pinch Mr Morgan from you English too in a few months time ;)

That wouldnt be bad, him and Mr North both defecting to Wales for some quality international rugby careers (can understand why a wing would want to if im fair!)

  4. Please allow me to assist. The Welsh will be playing Western Samoa in the Group stages, I recommend you innocently ask your Welsh friends about the W Samoa games in the 1991 and 1999 World Cup. Once the glazed and traumatised look has disappeared from their faces I expect their confidence will have somewhat diminished :winkold:

Seriously though, that is one tough group the Welsh are in- South Africa, Samoa and Fiji. My 'bok mates are very worried about the physicality of the teams, so if Wales do make it through to the QFs they can probably expect to have picked up a few injuries along the way.

The Welsh players are in for one hell of a tough time, they are going to get absolutely physically battered in their group games. If they make it through it will not be without paying a price along the way.

I think the same is true of SA who will make it through but despite being no strangers to big hits may just come off worse than Wales seeing as they like to dish it out as well.

  5. Ok, I know naff all about Rugby but have been pressured into entering a work fantasy league, here is my random selection. Any obvious errors or omissions?

    J Smit SA

    K Mealamu NZ

    S Moore AUS

    D Vickerman AUS

    N Sharpe AUS

    T Croft ENG

    A Thomson NZ

    N Easter ENG

    F du Preez SA

    D Carter NZ

    C Smith NZ

    J de Villiers SA

    B Foden ENG

    T Bowe IRE

    D Mitchell AUS

Some really good picks in there mate, but 2-3 at least aren't starters for their teams so you'll be missing out on points. Sharpe and Mitchell aren't even on the bench for the Wallabies and Thomson is second choice to McCaw for NZ.

I missed my flight, so not going to play too much. :)

  6. got with my misses april 2001, proposed april 2008 (i remember it being week villa slaughtered bolton during that time when we smashed them, derby and blues in that fine few weeks!) and married september 2009.

having said that, we were together from sixth form and through uni so maybe a bit longer than most.

  7. It's only right that foreign aid should be increased but the cynic in my believes that the money isn't going to the right places/people.

The Pakistan funding is a good example, despite millions (or even billions) of $$$ being handed over, the country has yet to feel any significant effect a few months on. The money doesn't go to the people who need it.

So my question really was can we afford to consistently aid these governments who in turn do little to no good with the money?

My answer is no. Not until we all take care of our own problems at home. Massachusetts ranks close to the top of every positive category you can find, but there are people here that live in pure squalor, all over the state. I'm talking pure poverty. And this is one of the wealthiest states. So you can imagine what it's like in every city and rural area in the country. I'm sick and tired of watching my taxes go to fund lost causes overseas, when back here at home, the country is slowly imploding.

Come live over here, our taxes go to problems overseas, banks (who caused 90% the issues we have economically by giving mortgages to people who cant repay phone bills...) and people who dont want to work.

    Its great :)

  8. So, economic experts of VillaTalk, what effect would having single mothers put into communes rather than given their own houses etc have on the economy as a whole?

My belief is it would seriously lower the amount of kept, unwanted pregnancies - particularly if coupled with state provided child care at each commune to allow the mother to go to work.

Of course, they could live with their parents... but I'm on about the baby factory types who do it for the houses they get.

  9. Nothing wrong, I'm sure the kid was happy to go, at that age, you want to play for the best teams and no doubt he'll become a better player because of the expert coaching he'll recieve.

I and a few others made a move from a SOE to an Academy for compensation fee's when we were 9. At that age, you sorta just agree to anything. As long as the kid's happy and both clubs are, don't see the problem. Unless you feel denying a young player a chance to move to one of the best clubs to recieve some of the best coaching is wrong..

At that age, there'll be no difference to the quality of coaching they'll receive.

Chelsea aint going to let their u12 side use their first team complex...

  10. Wondering how to respond..

    With an apology?

Agreed. In all seriousness, just send her a quick one back apologising for the noise and promising to make an effort to keep it down in the future.

And if you ever have a party or anything in the future then give her a warning about it out of courtesy.

Better to keep your neighbours on your good side I've found.

Spot on advice. Better to fall out with anyone but your neighbours.

  11. So once again the Liberal party drop their beliefs as well as their trousers and bend over for the Conservatives, unlimited tuition fees lovely. Do they really think any of their traditional voters will still be behind them the next time they come to cast a vote?

The death of the Liberal party FTL :-(

On the plus side, this arguably strengthens Labour, as the dissafected Lib Dem supporters will in all probability drift to them in large numbers ...

Amusing... Labour (correct me if I'm wrong) are the ones who started all this off re tuition fees.
