If what OBE is saying comes to pass and the stand is definitely only delayed I'm going for them calling someone's bluff who was dragging their heels on some other commitments.
Delayed until when? It’s madness imo… unless you can build a stand May to September, and have a fair few away games then it’s going to impact the gates…..
surely they develop the “box park” bit first off the stadium and then get revenue that way to cover the loss of tickets for a year….

Watkins scores a boat load and assists as good as anyone…. Takes months and months for a call up.
Cole Palmer scores four penalties…. Instant call up.
Watkins would have more goals than Salah if he took our penalties…

ye, we really missed a big opportunity this week, huge miss tbh.
Agree, we could be third right now. Those forest games are the ones title winners get done.
i always try and balance what we should do vs what we need to do.
we lost to forest when expecting a win. We need to win a game we expect to lose to address it back.

United fans saying Rashford ahead of him for England. Despite way more goals and assists, the “softer” metrics of progressing the ball in the final third, receiving and dribble success has Rashford ahead.
I do at times struggle to think how Southgate works with his selection but with Watkins now in the middle he’s essentially the Kane replacement, which will be only possible if Kane gets injured.
hoping Watkins can score a boat load before Christmas and prove he’s really a key striker for the national side

Rolls-Royce of a central defender
I was arguing with someone on FB who said he was basically rubbish apart from 3 months for Smith.
But he was a season ticket holder which meant his opinion was fact so….
Trying to find this through ball today on video but can’t locate it. It was KDB peak

Watkins was fab, (clinical)
Konsa was excellent (what a through ball he played)
Luiz was excellent
everyone played well but those three for me were the stand outs.
that is the standard. Was a brilliant team performance

Imagine if Sunderland were to win 8 nil here, in Sheffield.
Could well do.
Clarke passing is very crisp indeed and confident. Obviously he is in great form, be good to see him under some pressure, but Looking at him in this first half he is in cruise control.

Clarke for Sunderland looks a good player. only seen him in this game but hes running rings around Wednesday.

I just googled “Aston Villa Liverpool players”.
Crouch, Heskey, Cissokho, Baros, McMahon, Alun Evans. I think there’s more.
Baros! Yeah I’m missing a fair few

Good evening fellow VTers.
With cost of living giving most of us an absolute savaging at the moment. I do have some skills in design.the Bro in law is a Liverpool fan so was going to produce a word cloud in a frame of key players who have played for both Villa and Liverpool. I think the centre word is probably going to be Milner, but is there a website or database (or perhaps pooling our great knowledge) where we can get a list of players who have played for both?
I have tried a few of the usual websites but I cannot filter by two clubs they have played for, only one.
Any links or info appreciated.
I have this list, but must be missing some biggies
Houghton
Staunton
Saunders
Milner
Benteke
Downing
Collymore
Reina
James
Cole
Warnock

We have 9 attackers for 3 positions
If you swap our defensive injuries to those 9 we would have only 4. It looks find because our injuries are at the back.
If we lose Watkins to injury or fatigue then we have very little for that position. -

Guarantee this won’t happen, even if you had him in the exact same Villa team.
Given the side he’s gone to he should get nowhere near Watkins. If he gets half the goals it will be very good.

Yeah, I've seen him play. But he wasn't the single CF at Boro. Premier League defenders will bully him on his own. Ollie and Duran are units and have the physical attributes, I just don't see archer in that mould.
By that same logic that’s why Watkins will never be in the England squad until Kane retires. As Kane is a similar striker and role

however what I really wanted to check is whether anyone has actually reported there is a buy back clause or is it just a rumour.
We must have because we are incredibly stupid if we’ve just let him go

Cameron does not fit our system. He needs a striking partner, like McBurnie to do the donkey work. He may well be successful at other clubs, but I cannot ever see him make it here with Unai in charge. We cannot revolve our system around a player who isn't physical enough to play 95% of our games. I think it is just that he is a good CF, but not for us.
Have you even seen him play? He’s an absolute unit. He destroyed defenders at Middlesbrough
add to that he’s as quick as anyone we have in our squad
-
Qualify asap and rotate the hell out of those last few games

Southgate strikes again. Utter bellend
He will never pick him despite being one of the best English defenders of the past three years.

Can be a decent shot stopper at times.
But he is stuck to his line and you can just sense that the back four doesn't fully trust him.
I get such Nyland vibes off of him.
Absolutely, especially when corners are coming in. Really doesn’t look comfortable.

In place of Watkins? Maybe take Diaby out? Change formation and play two strikers? What we saying?
Well… hope Watkins doesn’t get injured because I personally see more in Archer as a quality striker than Duran.

Got to be a striker coming in now.
I’m not listening to those who say we don’t need one or others can play there if needs be…just feels like one is coming in and also we need one.
People that say we don’t need one are clueless. Unless we plan on getting dumped out of the cups early on. We have so many games to play.
