    We’re finishing mid table.

Agree, you simply cannot lose games like that and expect a top £ finish.

really poor with the possession, the shots etc.

We need to offset that by beating one of the top 4 sides again to offer neutrality to this awful result

    Sounds very Milneresque.

Absolutely and you need one or two in the squad to unlock positions and allow Dean some flexibility.

great signing and the SmarterScout tweets show he can do the holding role or the forward role.

perfect to give people rest and flexibility on players with yellow cards etc.

might have come too early but the Burnley game will be easier to settle in than Southampton.

The thought of manure winning the league gives me nightmares

I'd be highly in favor of City winning every game for the rest of the season

Nah, I’d rather neither won and Leicester did it but if I had to choose I’d rather United currently.

it’s propped up by Fernandes. If Real Madrid come for hIm United become tepid again. Don’t have that luck with City.

Classic 'we're right even when we're wrong'.

What's funnier is everyone on twitter/message boards lecturing people who rightly thought this was in fact offside. At least with that clarification now everyone can say they were indeed ... right 😃 what a mess.

If you check my tweet above city fans still think it was onside and right because of the statement made today by the PGMOL. The faceless organisation that doesn’t even have its own website or info.

Confirmed we were right all along. Currently posting “shhh” memes and linking that tweet to all the city and Leeds fans who said I was wrong.

Absolutely livid, we would have got a point from that game.

Hopefully it makes no odds to our final table position.

All clubs should put sustainability at the center of their long term plans, IMO. Glad to see Spurs are doing that with their new stadium. But according to the BBC, Villa rank last in sustainability measures among all Premier League clubs.

The AVFC Supporter's Trust might consider pressing Villa brass on this. It would be good citizenship and good business to take a more aggressive approach on it.

    https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/55790760

There’s a difference between sustainability in impact on the climate.

our stadium is decades old for the most part. Spurs just put enough concrete and steel into their stadium to be bottom of that list for some time.

to give you an idea 1 tonne of concrete is about 0.94 tonne of co2 emissions to produce it.

based on the concrete it took to build Wembley, you’re looking at setting fire to 230,000 barrels of crude oil to get the CO2 equivalent.

yes we need to be better, but it’s like saying spurs ordered fifty cheeseburgers last year and ordered a Diet Coke this year.

    • gaining an advantage by playing the ball or interfering with an opponent when it has:
    • rebounded or been deflected off the goalpost, crossbar or an opponent
    • been deliberately saved by any opponent
    • A player in an offside position receiving the ball from an opponent who deliberately plays the ball, including by deliberate handball, is not considered to have gained an advantage, unless it was a deliberate save by any opponent.

A ‘save’ is when a player stops, or attempts to stop, a ball which is going into or very close to the goal with any part of the body except the hands/arms (unless the goalkeeper within the penalty area).

Schar has deflected the ball. No one would call what Schar did a pass. Under the offside rule a deflection is not considered a delibrate play. Also, based on the definition of a save in this law you could argue what Schar did was a save and a save doesn't reset an offside player.

    This is what I thought.

if Watkins wasn’t behind the ball when played I’d have said that’s offside as it deflected off his shin.

but the referees have opened a can of worms with the city goal vs us. I hope it causes carnage for loads of sides now.

hope Liverpool score one similar vs United and City get screwed over and lose a game because of it.

  8. This is a bigger game than Newcastle, a tougher opponent and it pushes us right into the top half of the table.

realistically a win here will put us one victory from safety. No way 40 points will be required this season.

McGinn coming back full of beans will be so key and can run people ragged, knowing Nakamba can come on and do a solid job against an opponent like this.

first goal is really important so we have to start quick, moving the ball at pace and get right in front early on and force Burnley to attack from a position of weakness.

if we do that and counter attack hard it’s a 3-0 win.

if Burnely score first then a draw is our most likely outcome.
