  1. It's a complete joke! Chelsea have effectively ruined the career of a referee!

This makes my blood boil. Chelsea are a dispicable bunch of words removed for engineering this

It looks likely the allegations are not true, but just because you presume they are not does not mean they are not. We do not know if there was or wasnt racial abuse!

  2. From the Telegraph

Air passengers to get compensation if delayed, EU court rules

Plane passengers who are delayed by more than three hours will get compensation from their airlines, the European Union’s highest court has ruled.

By James Hall, Consumer Affairs Editor7:30AM BST 24 Oct 20129 Comments

The ruling by the EU Court of Justice in Luxembourg said passengers who reach their final destination three hours or more after the scheduled arrival time can claim fixed compensation from the airline, unless the delay is caused by “extraordinary circumstances” such as a strike or bad weather.

Mechanical problems with an aeroplane do not constitute extraordinary circumstances, the court ruled.

Passengers on flights starting or ending in the EU are entitled to between €250 (£206) and €600 (£488) for delayed or cancelled flights under the rules.

The ruling confirms a 2009 verdict by the court, which said that under EU law passengers whose flights are delayed have the same rights to compensation as passengers whose fights are cancelled.

The court was asked to clarify its 2009 guidance in light of two cases involving some of Europe’s biggest airlines.

In one of the cases, the International Air Transport Association, British Airways, easyJet and TUI Travel challenged the Civil Aviation Authority after it rejected their request to be exempted from paying for flight delays.

The second case involved the German airline Lufthansa, which was being sued by passengers after a flight delay of more than 24 hours.

In both cases judges sought advice from the EU court on exactly what compensation is due.

The court ruled yesterday: “Where passengers reach their final destination three hours or more after the scheduled arrival time, they may claim fixed compensation from the airline, unless the delay is caused by extraordinary circumstances.” The Civil Aviation Authority welcomed the ruling and said it “provides clarity for consumers”.

Iain Osborne, its director of regulatory policy, said: “Every year around 200  million passengers travel on two million flights to and from the UK, with the vast majority experiencing no problems.

“However, when something does go wrong, there are regulations in place to protect travellers, and the CAA is ready to ensure companies abide by them. Today’s judgment from the Court of Justice of the European Union offers much needed clarity for passengers, the airline industry and the CAA about when compensation must be paid following delays.”

In its ruling, the court said that extraordinary circumstances were those “which could not have been avoided even if all reasonable measures had been taken, namely circumstances beyond the actual control of the air carrier”.

So we now get Compensation for flights delayed over 3 hours!

The below website claims that if you pay them a membership fee of £21.00 then you will gain compensation for previous. It looks dodgy to me but was recommended in the metro this morning, which although i dont trust the Metro, i cant imagine them not checking a website before suggesting it.

"passengers whose flights are delayed have the same rights to compensation as passengers whose fights are cancelled."

Im not sure that's a good thing, mean a lot more flights will just be cancelled instead of delayed, as it would be the airlines cheaper option

    Thoughts?

  3. That I will most probably be on Sky Sports tomorrow and Saturday.

Theres a documentary/ Highlights of the European Championships of Lacrosse being played 5 or 6 times. It will mostly involve the England team but considering we (Ireland) played England twice including in the Final, Im sure people will see me. Im just hoping they show something from the Semi between Sweden and Ireland, as it would quite likely include my goal, which I am very proud of (commentator said after the goal – “the boys got skills, Take a bow son, That is some serious showboating)

    Anyway iv sky+ it

  4. Blue Pill...depending on rules of the game. Take it when im 70, and become a master of an extremely strong and athletic sport like rugby or NFL. Bearing in mind to be a master id need a body of someone alot younger than 70.

Green pill....... how quick can i fly? can people know i can do this without any problems? i mean they might find it suspicious if im in NYC every sat and Rio every Sunday etc

    Pink would always be fun

  5. Hey Guys,

So a lady friend of mine from Cork is looking to get a new phone and is on O2 but can change network.

Now I know nothing of the best Network to suit her and it appears they don’t have giff gaff over there. I presume they are all quite similar (I was on meteor pay as you go back when I was over there)

Anyway, she wants a new phone, has an old Iphone and isn’t bothered about getting a new one. The note is too big otherwise shes open to suggestion. Id suggest the Galaxy Nexus or the S3 depending on price etc.

She wants her phone to “Take clinical photos, access to word and PDFs from email, whatsapp, viber etc.” so obviously it doesn’t have to be the best phone but sure everyone likes the best.

I don’t think shes in any huge rush, so would you suggest picking up an S3/ Nexus, getting something else or waiting for something newer (LG nexus etc)

    cheers for the help

  6. When it comes to sports, I've always been a consistent all-rounder, shit at everything.

    Lol, same.

You do seem to be pretty good at running though, Mike, no?

Middle of the pack - probably better than the average man in the street (certainly of my age). But it requires no real skill.

He beat me in the 1982 London Marathon, the bastard.

    I Jest

I could'nt run a marathon, im a good runner when it comes to sport but just running, not my bag!

  7. Nobody really above a 6 maybe Guzan , Holman and KEA 6.5 but early days yet . Football a lot better was always gooing to be like this , this season imo

This or +1 or however i am meant to advise these are also my thoughts. Holman, KEA and Guzan are our best performers. I think Guzan has been ok as with the other 2 but feel people overrate because he has a cult status

  8. There's a lot of honesty in your posts, and not a lot of concern for political correctness or saying what you think 'should' be said.

Always bring a smile to my face.

    ha thank's...I think

you are mine also...mostly for your rage. I think most people look/hope for a post from you in 'things that piss me off....'

  9. I have discussed it before but a skinny tie would be extremely frowned apon and possibly requested to be removed.

and yet spelling mistakes would be permitted :winkold:

unless you are an undertaker , why would you have to adhere to such a strict code ?

    Lloyds of London Insurance!

you mean that institute that lost £516m last year ? maybe they ought to focus on other things than the dress code :winkold:

Well i work for a Lloyds of London Broker, we had a 30% rise in gross profit last year

Edit: oh, and we looked positively dashing, while making that increase ;)

  11. Marks and Spencer do the best high street suits, a good range of styles that should suit most ages. I have to say that Next is awful these days. All their suits, plus shirt and ties seem designed for 17 year old trainee estate agents. All shiny silver suits and patterned skinny ties. And while I would always defer to NV in all matters sartorial, I have to disagree with him on the brightly coloured socks idea. I do like a nice traditional pin stripe suit as well.

You can tell you are middle aged when Next is too trendy and M&S is stylish :P

Im 26 and will agree on that, i dont think most Next suits would be acceptable at work. While my M&S suit has 2 buttons the top being fairly high, a fairly thin lapel, is a good royal/navy blue and has thin but not skinny legs.

I agree on bright coloured socks if you want some flair (solid red or blue are always good choices) and at the moment i also agree on no pinstripes! I have a very nice Power stripe suit but i dont think i could wear it anymore, it just looks outdated. Its all about a fairly darkish grey or navy suit at the moment

  12. Nuremburg knows his stuff.

I wear suits everyday and have to be extremely smart at work. I have discussed it before but a skinny tie would be extremely frowned apon and possibly requested to be removed.

So i have a fair few suits as i wear them every day... especially after losing 35lbs in jan-march as i couldn't adjust the 44 jackets to a 38.

My suits range in value. i have suits i got made in saville row, from reiss. from suit supply, from M&S and from the local suit place which alway has a closing down sale.

Anyway the one which everyone comments on and ask where i got made is the England team M&S suit. its top notch for your price and you couldnt get a better looking suit that looks good in work but still a bit stylish.

So id suggest M&S. i know some of them still sell the England one, id get that one if you can.

remember, the tighter the jacket (within reason), the better you look ;)

P.S it was difficult being an Irishman buying a suit with the English football team crest on the inside but was worth it, i did have to buy a black permanent marker also!

  13. ME, that’s an awfull situation to be in, sorry to hear it!

However as we are in the situation *these asterisks* annoy me a lot…. All those words need is to be between comma… I wouldn’t have much of a problem with brackets. There are already 2 sets of punctuation you could use, why have you invented your own?

  14. Im a Lloyd’s Insurance Broker (an insurance broker who brokes in the Lloyd’s Building, nothing to do with the bank) I would no doubt be ‘advised’ that a skinny tie isn’t acceptable. Im presuming this as I have not tried, a skinny tie doesn’t look very professional in my opinion anyway. What I do know is that underwriters are not allowed to take their jackets off at their desks in Lloyd’s.

Edit: you said with the shirt aswell? It would be known that my suit would not be liked!

anyway. You are on to a winner with the grey suit, white shirt and purple tie. Although the purple tie in this case would need to be a pattern (like the one above) or striped, not solid.

  15. Top One!

    Bottom one looks cheap.

Purple tie and white shirt will work well (especially with lighter grey suits)

    On the earlier suggestions:

I would not be allowed to wear a skinny tie in my industry.

Please dont match your suit and tie! Grey suit, white or pastel (blue or pink only) shirt and a simple solid, stripped or patterned tie which. Black shoes, Black belt. Keep it simple and youll look sharp.

P.S i have boxing later so will cancel out this gheyness!

  16. Ingram, I'd say don't look too much into it, but personally I would wait to see how it goes when you ask her out before adding her on facebook. You do not want to seem too keen at first, so just play it cool until Friday and get to know her better in the process.

Im trying not too but a few people on the course have mentioned we seem to be getting on rather well.

Yeah ill just see how friday goes i guess then..

Personally id add her on facebook and hope to chat to her on that. But thats just the way i am. get all flirty without the others being around and she can do it from the comfort from her home. couple of messages back and forth and youll both know if its on the cards leaving neither of you worrying about it when you meet

  17. However, because the other time pressure are so sensitive I feel like a Grade A clearing in the woods for not being more understanding. But it feels a bit like I have a text/housesit relationship with her at the moment.

you cant stay with her just because of guilt. Understanding her situation is great but she has to understand yours. Hopefully the situation can be addressed and the circumstances change soon otherwise you cant hang around playing third/fourth fiddle!

  18. OK DDID, I need closure on this anecdote now :-D

Why, are you pulling the Pope's cap off for me baby....?

Haha. No I have a suspicion of which suburbs she may have come from :)

i have the same suspicion....... does she constantly wear uggs and have a normal name with a slightly less common spelling?
