  1. Thanks guys,

It is a little easier playing a less major sport for a fairly small country. Although Ireland are around the 7th/8th rank in the world which includes The Iroquois (native americans who get their own national team out of respect for their sport) They however did not make the Worlds in Manchester due to Iroquois Passports not being accepted by the UK even when America and Hilary Clinton got involved and vouched for them. Was a real shame!

  2. Looking at sports clubs to join in my new college. It's my third attempt at doing something with myself after college hours. I usually am very lazy about it and have yet to attend anything I wanted to. This is a new me though. I'm looking at fencing or some sort of martial art. Maybe both. Something at which I and everyone else in the class will be a complete beginner so I don't seem like someone who has spent the last 17 years in front of a computer. Anyone find a hidden gem of a sports club that wouldn't expose me as a deviant and that I'd enjoy.

What college are you at? I was part of the Lacrosse team at UCD, everyone starts as beginners in Uni. I would definatly suggest it depending on which college. I have represented Ireland 19 times now after starting in UCD including in the European Championship and World championship, which is pretty insane when i think about it.

  3. Sounds like your progressing through this better than nearly everyone would, irreverentad!

But you really got to stop living together as soon as possible, its just going to be difficult.

Also from a financial point of view: I would want to sell the house as soon as possible, looks like its going to get harder and harder to sell a house. But thats for another thread.

Ayway, keep on trucking towards that light and personally i woldnt worry about 'smashing' any women yet, i am sure itll come and you know women love trying to mend a broken heart, especially one thats just looking good from gyming it!

  4. i will donate £20 to villatalk if villatalk are to be the main sponsor of Birmingham City Football Club during any league or cup match during the season of 2011/2012. This offer is only for the first game villatalk sponsor Birmingham City Football Club and It will not be obligatory to pay any further amounts after this game.

    Is that binding?

  5. Reading the comments from Wigan fans on SSN website - not only do they all seem absolutely gutted but all seem to make reference to the fact he is MILES better than Downing.

He's not miles better than Downing. If he was, Liverpool would have bought him for half what they bought Downing for. It's just subjective fans thinking their player is better. The numbers don't add up. N'Zogbia is a demon for going on dribbles but Downing does crosses better, scores goals better and is way way more consistent. Liverpool will get a player with a great attitude on the pitch who will probably give them 35 good games next season. We have a player who has the potential to peak higher than Downing but who will do it on fewer occasions and is more likely to go the 'glory' route than the team route. That's not a criticism, it's just what I believe to be a fair analysis of what both players bring to the table.

But the objective gauge here is that ultimately Liverpool were willing to pay twice as much for our seemingly inferior player.

Im not arguing one way or another but did N'Zogbia and Carrol not have a bit of a problem with each other or is that just rumours?

if its true maybe that would have helped with the decision if they were looking at the both of them?

  6. Cheers for the advice guys, im worried about it seeming odd because I havent spoken to her for about 10 years, she keeps liking my status updates that are to do with being single and I think she has been single for a while aswell.

I guess randomly chatting on fb is no different from chatting to someone in a club but it seems alot less personal and more weird than chatting face to face.

I believe earlier in this thread someone asked a similar question.

Is she on Facebook chat from time to time??

If yes, its very easy to spark up a conversation

write something like the following on chat:

"Hey buddy, crazy night sat, i was soo hungover on sunday"

"oh sorry that obviously wasnt meant for you"

"anyway how are you havnt spoken to you in ages....."

Im expecting success pictures of my fool-proof paln!

edit: I am abit slow at responding in work and now see shes not online often!

  7. I put down a "non refundable deposite" down on my house.

Basically i couldnt back out, but if the deal didnt go through for another reason i would have got my money back.

Id say if he failed a medical or didnt want to come Villa would have got their money back. Although not 100% sure how failing a medical goes as im sure its not really an either you pass or fail so would be difficult to judge.

  8. Random one - when barbers/hairdressers seemingly throw years (weeks?) of training out of the window and become completely inept at their job on hearing of your highly complex follicular request - like 'I want the same style just a bit shorter'.

'WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?! WHAT IS THAT IN INCHES?! I DON'T EVEN...'

It was worst when I used to have long hair - when I had the audacity to ask 'if you could just trim it up a bit as it's getting a bit long/thick' I'd generally end up with some bizarre indie-reject look for my troubles.

When I lived in France I literally had to start taking pictures in on my phone so they wouldn't f*ck it up completely.

I had this problem when i had long hair. Ended up cutting it myself for about 6 years while at college. Seemed to work a treat and could never be angry with anyone but myself. Added bonus: saved a few bob

  9. Say what you like about Skiing, but show me a snowboarder who is as cool as
    guy.

I don't get the whole snowboarder/skier rivalry. If you got the balls and the style when laying huge tricks then it doesn't really matter what you ride. As a skier I obviously prefer watching skiers lay big runs, but can still respect snowboarders when they are doing there thing.

Ah yes but the majority of people arent laying tricks let alone huge tricks

    EDIT:

Also i wouldnt say that isnt extremely cool but its impressive, cool skiing (and boarders) its all about style! e.g a well spun 3 is better than a poorly spun 5.If your looking for the coolest skiiers look no further than TJ Schiller and Jon Olsson!

also check out Jon Olsson's car:

  10. Anyone been skiing in New Zealand. Particularly around Queenstown.

I have done a day in remarkables in New Zealand but that was i think in 2005. It was pretty limited in Comparison to the Alps, i think there was only 5 chair lifts when i was there. I hear its improved since but i dont think i could suggest it to skiiers or boarders who frequent the Alps or resorts in the States and Canada

Personally i really want to go boarding in Chile, that would be amazing!

Im hoping to go boarding in Les 2 Alps on the glacier this summer again! Its the perfect trip for a Park lover like myself. Have a few obsticals though like money, days off and i am meant to be moving house when i want to go.

On the Skiing vs Boarding argument one is not better than the other, they are different things. I can do both to a fairly good standard depending on who im talking to, im no baselayer (although i did try to give her a tip after seeing a photo   ) Skiing is more active, you have to put in effort to ski well down a mountain, while boarding the better you get the less effort it is. I am a boarder at heart but with all the changes to skis (fat boy twin tips etc) a skiier can nearly enjoy everything about boarding without switching and im not sure the same could be said the other way round. Then again only pricks with sticks want to do moguls anyway ;)

  11. Im with the 'I trust Randy' group and will also back any manager that comes in, even if it was our very own Sir_Gary_Cahill and he replaced Bent with Ethan Moore.

Anyway the one thing i do know is: Mystery Man is no mystery to the club. They know him and he is well connected in the club.

There would be few people who know more than him about whats going on at the club, very few.

He never commits to something that isnt certain for entirely that reason.

Anyway, i know he will never be back after all this and if hes reading this, i just want to let him know thanks for sharing, most of us really appreciated it! We totally understand why you wont be back

P.S pm me if your itching to share at any time

  12. To be fair BOF, you could well not say 'fillum' but from my experience with Ireland (5 years at UCD and countless Holidays) and Irish People (any and all my relatives, all my college friends and family friends) i have noticed that most Irish people dont even know they say 'fillum' instead of film and often when you ask them to say that specific word on its own, they say film yet in a sentence, not thinking about it specifically, they will say 'fillum'

The best part about it is I have never met someone who says 'clingfillum' rather than clingfing.

So i guess this fairly annoys me as i just dont understand why both would be pronounced differently

  13. Fair enough

I was just emhasising light as different to virgin, as extra virgin oil has flavour and supposibly would work

any way either way, My mate is looking alot better

  14. Thats slightly different to what the book says

Book says he lost the weight just consuming extra LIGHT olive oil

your not allowed to eat or drink anything but water an hour before or after the times you take the olive oil

Something to do with taking calories with no flavour connected to it, you lose your appetite and slowly slim down and then a very small amount of oil a day (which is pretty good for you) keeps your weight down and you can eat and drink whatever you want

Anyway i have a friend who used to be a little too big, who slimmed down and now keeps his weight down doing it. Says it was easier than changing your diet and would make changing your diet easier aswell as it cuts out cravings. Every month or so he spends a week not on the oil as he claims he would get too thin if he stayed on it the whole time

  15. You guys should read a book called Shangri - La diet, by Seth Roberts, he is a serious prefessor from somewhere and is mentioned in 'Freakonomics' He used himself as a tester to find an easy way to loose weight, which he most successfully found that certain amount of either sugar water or flavourless oil could do. All you have to do is consume small amounts of 1 or both in the right way and you dont have to change your diet or what foods you eat. They just work in supressing your diet.

Anyway he refers to the fact we like foods that are bad for us because your body assocciates flavour with calories. So the more calories you end up consuming with a certain flavour the more that flavour becomes tastier to you

Also he claims you have like a thermostat for your weight were your body wants the set amount of calories to reach that weight. however if you consume more calories it pushes the thermostat up so therefor the standard weight your body tries to set is larger. Im kinda of confusing myself, i read it a while ago. but it all comes from historic times where when there was an abundance of food it would cause your body to want to intake more and more pushing its desired weight up and up, and when food was scarce it would bring your desired weight loser...so similar to Animals that hibernate. However we still have this system but food is never scarce. This is why for most people if they wanted to eat what they liked (their body wanted) theyd become overweight and why we like foods with more calories

    ah just read the book!

  16. exciting....what do stalker points get me?

Legov it is kind of fake but often you can tell the girl knows you just did it to speak to them, but i think they quite like it. its worked for me before.

Then again i met a girlfriend through her sending me a message on facebook before i had ever met her. she apparently saw me do an air guitar competition in my university (UCD)

So facebook has helped my sex life alot!

  17. Cunning!

Might try that, although I'd prefer real life contact over Facebook contact, but that may not be an option!

Well i dont see how you can do that unless you actually stalk her!

chat to her a little bit and then when you think shes confortable suggest a coffee or something

personally i enjoy flirting over fb chat, especially with someone you dont know so well. especially as you get that extra second for your witty remarks.

anyway if it works, im expecting photos, thanks!
