  1. Totally agree. It did back up what i've always said about Michael Mann though. He's a good director but really struggles to direct people. Collateral on the other hand is brilliant, and not forgetting Heat which is one of my favourite films...truely outstanding! Not seen Miami Vice, any good? Yeah i agree collateral was outstanding and the disgracefully underated tom cruise was brilliant. Heat is one of my favourite movies of all time. Miami Vice was savaged by the critics, ive not seen it so can not comment. However, he made such a mess of public enemies. His directing style just did not work. However, depp gave one of the worst performances ive seen from an elite actor. Its like he has forgot how to act, and is stuck in his over the top Jack Black character mode in his recent movies. Real shame, cause like I said he should have been the ATG actor of our generation. We only have Daniel Day Lewis (from the last 10 years) who called be called an ATG

  3. YESSSS!!! Finally someone seen this movie!! Absolutely incredible!!! Have you seen them both?? I prefered the second to the 1st.
  4. Donnie Brasco is my all time favourite Depp performance. The film isnt even that great but Depp's and Pacino's performance make an average film, fantastic. He really, and I mean REALLY, stunk the joint out with public enemies. Never EVER been more disapointed in a film then that one. Depp was truly awful
  5. Johnny Depp Having just watched Donnie Brasco, he really could be one of the ATG actors up their with the Pacino's, De niro's, DDL, etc. He just keeps picking ridicously bad movies especially with Tim Burton. The 'he only picks indie movies' statement doesnt hold water either because he hasnt done an 'indie' film in years. He hasnt made a decent film in many years Wasted talent...if he had Di Caprio's CV he would be one of the top 5 actors of all time
  6. Going to a concert or a football match, and the amount of people you see watching it on a shitty little phone or on a tiny camera screen even though they are THERE to watch it live. Then they go on facebook and upload some lame quality video of the concert they went to as if any one wants to watch it. See it all the while, especially when I was at the haye fight last weekend. People seem to bothered to show others they are having a 'good' time, rather then ACTUALLY having a good time themselves
  7. Dark Knight Rises - 9 out of 10 Was lucky to see it before most people but WOW!!!! Had reservations about Bane being the main villain but he truly steals the show, and dare i say it I prefered Bane to the joker in dark knight. Gordon Levitt played a BIG part also. Didnt really see the point of catwoman to be honest, and it is 20 minutes to long but for me it ties with THE RAID as FILM OF THE YEAR! seeing this just makes me wonder how anyone can like fluffy rubbish like avengers and iron man (had to get that in :-) ) Drive - 8.5 out of 10 - To add to the debate....AWESOME MOVIE!!! from the soundtrack, to the cinemagraphy, to the acting it truly is fantastic. There isnt much story line to it, and bits of it are completely daft but I love it. I havent seen a film with this much ATMOSPHERE since 'heat'.

Was wondering today do people still use encarta or ask jeeves?!? Used to love encarta
  9. She does an occassional piece in the Grauniad 'Guide' and it is excellent. Topical, left wing, anti-Government, anti-mainstream type stuff. Both funny and incisive. Also occassionaly (used to be) on 6 Music. Why are you posting in this thread if you believe it is of such low quality?? I never denigrated the quality of the thread, just the quality of your posts, which I extrapolated to be of poor quality based, somewhat short sightedly on my part, on the rather shite comedians you like, and the good ones you don't. The thread itself has some merit, even though the title is perhaps badly worded. I quite enjoy a good discussion about comedians and stand-up comedy, as I feel it can reveal quite a bit about people and posters. An opening gambit of disliking Stewart Lee and Liking the 'works' of Bernard Manning is never going to endear you to many of the good folks in Off Topic though, I would venture ... Maybe its pretentious posters, like yourself, that put people off from posting in off topic. The quality of my posts are based upon the 'shite' comedians I like?? Most pathetic comment Ive ever read. Dont give a shit if me liking Bernard Manning doesnt endear me to the off topic crowd. He is one of the funniest British comedians I have ever seen. I also love Dave chappelle and Chris rock who are known for their anti white comedy, dont bother me and and sure thats okay with liberal do gooders like yourself as well I suspect. Im a labour guy but some of the posters on here are so liberal, its as almost as if the off topic forum is a communist regime. You need to get out more to be honest, and I believe the mods should read your posts to me and realise it's the pretentious posters like yourself that put people off coming in off topic and why no one really posts outside the usual 7 or 8 suspects. I praised the queen on a previous post, and said she was the only 'great' thing about Great Britain. Several posters jumped in saying the meaning of 'Great' Britain and being totally pretentious about it even though they knew full well what i meant. Just tried to act dicks with anyone who was in favour of the Queen. Again mods should be seeing this. Im trying to get involved in off topic to add something because I like reading the posts to pass time at work, so Ive started to post in the film thread and create a few threads as not many people post anymore, can perhaps see why now. I shall continue reading off topic, but I will no longer post anymore. Now jog on.
  10. Get more laughs from watching people like paul merson and chris kamara on soccer saturday then 95% of comedians thinking about it

  12. Trying to think of a female comedian that has actually even made me smirk let alone laugh, narrowed it down to one....joan rivers (i think thats her name, very old, frankenstein looking woman from america)
  13. Simon Amstell was absolutely brilliant on Never mind the Buzzcocks, truely clever and witty guy. Frank Skinner is one i forgot, up their with the best Dave Chapelle is a legend, used to be very funny, now is slightly washed up Chubby Brown has his moments i guess as well, but a bit too vulgar. A poor mans bernard manning. Noel fielding - cant stand him either, the mighty boosh is truely the worst thing ive ever seen in my life. Unfunny and just stupid.
  14. Another one i forgot: Alan Davies - A complete word removed of a guy, and his comedy is like the male version of Jo Brand which is the ultimate insult
  15. What on earth has that got to do with how many posts Ive made??? Was just hypothesising that the reason you perhaps don't make so many posts is that they are all of this quality ... Dont get your point?? Whats wrong with a thread on comedians?? Jog on
  16. What on earth has that got to do with how many posts Ive made???
  17. To be honest 90% of comedians today are complete shite, especially those on the panel tv shows, words removed. Who are your favs (past and present) and ones you cant stand?? Cant stand Russell Howard - is complete shite. Typical middle class, uni student type humour. Probably the most annoying thing about him is the way he makes a statement but says it in such a tone as if he was asking a question rather than making a statement. It makes him sound so bitch-ass. Old skool people never spoke this way, it's a modern phenomenon. Then there is his habit of suddenly shouting very loudly or pretending to be a child or retarded. Dana O'Brien - He hasnt got a funny bone in his body. Stewart Lee - their is nothing intelligent about his comedy, he is just not a funny person Phil Jupitus - Complete shite and seems a bit of a bellend as well. Richard Pryor - I tried to like his comedy but I just didnt find him funny One I like Sean Lock - the only guy I lock from panel shows. He really is a quick witted, twisted but seriously funny guy (never seen his stand up though so maybe I need to check it out more) Bernard Manning - Truely great comedian, non PC comedy is the only comedy that is funny. Chris Rock - in the 90's he had to be the ATG comedian. Lee Evans - He is like marmite as many dislike his style, but personally I think he is brilliant. Sure this has 'bin dunne' before, but oh well Ive not read it and see why it cant be done again
  18. Finally got to see Elite Squad 2...Awesome! Prefered it to the first elite squad. Right mixture of tension, action and realism throughout without silly cgi. 9 out of 10. Elite squad 2 and Drive are my picks for best film of last year

Yes, Friends is dire, and the fibre line was pretty weak. But the abbreviated footage of the pathetic display was quite amusing. A few thousand people standing in a downpour, grimly committed to enduring several hours of utter tedium, presumably out of a dour sense of misplaced duty rather than anything distantly related to enjoyment. Quite likely wearing horsehair underpants to add to their character-building discomfort. I can see why the yanks mock us. People like that do rather invite it. But they shouldn't be allowed to inflict it on their kids.

Well didnt mean 'Great' like the way you 'intresting' fellas interpretated it! Know I know why no one posts on here anymore

Really? You said the monarchy was the only 'Great' thing Great Britain had to celebrate. In quotes with an uppercase 'G'. So it stood to reason to point out that the 'Great' in Great Britain is not and never has been an adjective and is therefore no reflection on how 'Great' Britain is or used to be. No idea what you are on about now or how on earth that relates to anything I have said Think you are from a different age bracket, like 60+, then me. we just do not relate im afraid.
  22. Minimal research?? Countless hours of norwich games on youtube?! Yeah right that is minmal. How the **** would google help me?! Reply with a dickish response and of course im going to tell you to jog on. Jog on You mess. Nah was only kidding around mate, didnt mean to be a dick. Just bored at work...but what kind of style does lambert set his team up to play?? 8)

It means 'Great' is not an adjective. It's not 'fantastic' or 'brilliant' Britain. There used to be a Greater Britain and a Lesser Britain (now Brittany in France). That's what the 'Great' refers to. Greater Britain. So in a way it's an anachronism. Have no idea how that relates to anything I said
