My worry is that Man City won’t need to beat Tottenham. Arsenal are away to Man Utd on Sunday I think, and it’s the type of game United could pick something up. If Man City are happy with a draw vs Spurs then that could spell trouble.

At least that last 20 minutes show that Liverpool can be got at.
-
Realistically we’ve already got enough points. Just need Liverpool and City to turn up.

Seems to be a strategy of ours to go for one big free transfers each summer. Kamara 2 years ago, Tielemans last year, and now possibly this. Big wages no doubt, but a hefty sum saved on fees.

Seems like a good source.

We’ve been linked for quite a while, not sure how reliable the source is.

Is he playing on Sunday? If so I think Emery might need to change the way he sets the team up.
2 goalkeepers?

What an absolute stinker he’s had tonight. It really couldn’t have gone much worse for him.

In true Villa style, we’ve almost qualified for The Champions League, and we all feel as flat as a pancake.

Someone do the maths. I reckon we must concede 2 a game with this guy playing.
Brings absolutely nothing.

Conceded 4 goals from 6 shots. He’s just not very good. The opposition have pretty much scored twice before kick off whenever he’s named in the team.
-
I’d imagine a Championship loan will be the next step for him.
-
He’s brain dead at times. Booked for a needless foul, then does it again 5 minutes later. Lucky not to be sent off. Similar to the Brentford game - just needed to avoid a booking to escape a 2 match ban, and gets himself booked in the 97th minute.

4 points from the next two games will be great, regardless of which way around they come.
Some perspective required, even if we did our best to throw it away today. 4 points from 2 tough home games is a good return.

Interestingly he was signed by Rangers to replace Rory Wilson .
Maybe we’re doing the same. The 5 year contract has been on the table for a while now…

I know it's just one result in isolation, but losing 4-0 at home to Spurs was really irresponsible.
Yep, we really bottled that one. We had a huge chance to build a gap on Spurs and we crumbled. Thankfully we made up for it last week with an ‘unexpected’ win.

The win against Arsenal is looking even bigger now. We really need to beat Bournemouth to put huge pressure on Spurs.

Liverpool 3 down, and West Ham losing now too

It’s is an anomaly….i can’t remember anything like that recently.
We threw away a two goal lead at Luton too. Luckily Digne rescued us. It’s not the norm, but it’s definitely not a one off.

A point would be amazing. When was the last time we got at least a point at the Etihad? Has to be 2009 at the latest. Probably more like 2007. Which is crazy.
I seem to remember a 2-0 win, with a Shaun Maloney goal. Must have been circa 2008. We did win there in the League Cup under Lambert. We’re due a bit of luck there.

If we can get 3 more wins (from 8 games), Man Utd would need to win 7 of their last 9 to overtake us (and that’s presuming we don’t pick up any draws in the other 5 games). I’m ever the pessimist when it comes to Villa, but we’re within touching distance of top 5 now.

Big 4 - £50-70m
Spurs - £40m
Chelsea - £40m (related party)
Newcastle - £30m (related party)
Aston Villa - £20m
West Ham - £10m
Brighton - £8m
The other 10 - £2-6m
We’re getting there.

I can’t imagine we let him go because of FFP. We’d be saving 5 months of wages, a drop in the ocean really. I think at the time he said he wanted regular first team football because of the Euros, obviously this hasn’t worked out for him.
