New here, hope this is an appropriate place for this post. Became a Villa supporter in 2011, as all in as someone living in the U.S. can be without yet being able to attend matches (am I a plastic?). I am fairly solid on my contemporary AV knowledge but lacking in deep history. What books would you all recommend for someone in my place? I have searched on the Internet but have yet to find any that appear to be definitive. Would really appreciate any suggestions, especially books that are still in print/won’t cost an arm & leg
Villa Park 100 Years by Simon Inglis is my all-time favourite Villa book.
The Aston Villa Story published in 1993 (Dean Saunders on the cover) is great too.
Aston Villa Greats by Leon Hickman is also a belter.

Maybe it really was a “pause” and not a cancellation. Allowing for potential incompetence, it has always struck me as strange that the North Stand plans have remained on the website.

I see him drifting aimlessly across the goal with both arms out as Gallagher scores, like something out of FIFA95. Isn’t it the case that a GK can reach further by using one arm?

Well it wasn’t our crest for 70 years. There are countless inaccurate “histories” of the Villa badge on google unfortunately so I understand why these myths gain traction. There is one that dates Ellis’s striped shield to the 1970s and thinks our official badge had “mita” in it in the 1980s.

I oddly like the mostly claret feel.
Not the gold side stripes. Either claret too or our blue.
Or would that be too like the Luke kit
I agree that is odd!

That Olsen pass to McGinn….eeek!

Argh, Cash, what was that about?!

Our injuries this season…unbelievable. Poor Emi!
I guess it’s encouraging that he felt able to continue until halftime. Hopefully an abundance of caution. -

1982 - but in a shield because the powers that be don't want a circle....
and @Jas10 sorry, but no stripes, ever again.....
Home: Claret shirt, blue sleeves, white shorts, blue socks..
Away: White with claret n blue trim/shorts/socks different to home so can be mixed and matched, (eg 1981, 82 etc)
Third: (if we have to to make $ and satisfy the youngsters who are bored with 'essential' Aston Villa) - anything tasteful, but NEVER blue.....
I think a gold line under Aston Villa would finish this off nicely.

I suspect Dragon Rouge will never want to work with us again!
It'd be interesting to know who has worked on the new iteration of the old badge or whether we've done it in-house.
Got in-house written all over it!
Football is very similar to politics - no-one will ever admit they made a mistake.

No need to buy - the prawns are included!
Are they though? I didn’t think Terrace View gives you food as part of the package, that’s the Lower Grounds isn’t it?

The Premium Experiences button isn’t even there for this game for me. So not sure how others have booked in TV and LG. Thankfully I have my own seat sorted!
Edit. Seems to be a problem when viewing on my phone.

"something big is coming" - Heck
Nothing bigger than a brand new Villa Bowl right
Where is that quote from? I’ve not heard it in the video snippet posted in the Heck thread.

Booking my ticket for Olympiakos is going well. The website is telling me I’ve exceeded the number I am entitled to even though I’ve not bought one yet. And I’m a season ticket holder.

Heck has hinted the kit will have some new feature. No blue sleeves...?
His own personal tribute to the great innovator Deadly Doug.

It came with his purchase of the club.
It was changed in 2007 about 11 months after the purchase.

It's actually from the Xia era which is even funnier
Sorry but it’s not. It was refreshed before the takeover.

Funny that Heck was apparently keen to “monitor reaction” to the round badge (the official line at least) but not so keen to monitor reaction to his Key Stage 3 art project.

It’s still on the Kaizen Gaming site.

Agreed, there has never been and probably never will be a better Villa programme.
