Well, we live to fight another day. Let’s get them back to Villa Park and smash them.

Let’s hope no-one from the Villatalk match thread goes to the replay though - there is enough negativity here to put the club into administration.

The first half narrative was **** mental.

    "We're being absolutely pounded".

Kenneth Williams would be aghast at such at inappropriate use of the term "absolutely pounded".

Don't think Diaby is going to get any joy in this game.

    Ollie ain't either.

We need a couple bigger lads up there.

Would be tempted to swap Moussa for Zaniolo

At this point I'd be concerned at this he reacts to being subbed again.

11th in the Premier League over the last five years and 6th highest this season - still a decent achievement and they've spent less net on transfers than us over that period (albeit from a very different starting point)  - but they do have the 4th largest wage bill in the league.

They're not minnows, he hasn't taken Brentford to the top, he's done a brilliant job of managing a massive team with huge resources - they're not about to fall apart now he's leaving.

Seems my sarcasm wasn't sarcastic enough.

    How about...

He's a transfer legend. Making the Coutinho last this long is an incredible achievement. He's a football manager AND a wheeler dealer!

I do hope the club with the third highest revenues in world football finds a way to cope.

    Lowest net spend though.

What Klopp has done there on such threadbare resources is a miracle.

Hause's contract could have been paid up I think, best thing for him and probably the club too. I know we need teams to come in for Chambers and Traore but that's why we have Monchi the master negotiator and they're not bad players, just not good enough for us. If Napoli, a team that won Serie A last season, were interested to sign Donk then I'm sure we could find a team for Chambers and Traore.

Belgian international cannot be compared to Callum Chambers and an onlyfitwhenplayingforBurkinaFaso Bertrand Traore.

I might be wrong but paying off Hauser's contract is the worst thing we could possibly do when it comes to FFP.

Players I'd have got rid of before Donk (in order):

    1. Hause - why the hell is this guy still on our books? Probably on a good £30-40K a week too

    2. Chambers - clearly not up to standard as hasn't featured in any league games this season, probably on £40-50K a week, I said we should move him on in summer and as ever I was right

    3. Traore - harder to shift because he's at AFCON but he's on a hefty wage and has featured in only 2 league games this season and is always injured

Whether you like Donk or not, he was more valuable to the squad than the three players above and contributed more than them this season.

You're aware other teams have to want our player for them to be "got rid of", right?

Unless you want to pay up their contracts I guess, which makes even less sense than keeping them on.

Obviously missed by quite a few but you obviously said this as McBurnie soon scored after the original post. So the hope being they all score next game.

Yeah mate. I considered messaging those that it confused, but, as with most things on Sunday, couldn't be bothered. UTV!

Both are strange from city as I don't think they realised how much of a positive impact those 2 players had on their squad depth, replacing Mahrez with Doku and gundogan with kovacic hasn't worked for them

But city's logic of both of them peaking and about to decline so shipping them out now is sound, their problem is their replacements aren't better and gundogan in particular they haven't managed to rotate the new players as much

Liverpool did it with Henderson and Keita, both arent good enough anymore

Then also both clubs just turned up at Wolves and brighton and took the replacement that they wanted

Us selling luiz would be madness, he hasn't peaked yet, he plays every game for us if he's available and we can't just go out in to the transfer market and cherry pick whichever replacement we feel like

We're miles off what man city do

Second in the league. Coasted through Champions League group. Won World Club Cup. Gearing up nicely for second half of the season. Been without KDB all season.

If that's "hasn't worked for them", expectations are sensationally high for Man City.

Iv'e already said this signing is probably related to FFP. I'm hoping so anyway.

So you want proven signings but understand that's not possible every transfer window?

If your happy to push for top 4 with bargain basement buys that's fine.

Diaby, Tielemans and Torres I would think are better and more proven than Rodgers, but I guess we will see.

Oh, you want signings akin to Torres, Tielemens and Diaby every transfer window?

How do you propose we do this within FFP guidelines?

But we wasn't puching top 4 then, we were lower to middle table at best??

When your up the top, yes sign young players and players like Rodgers, but you also need proven quality. Anyway, the only reason we are looking to sign Rodgers is because of FFP you would think. If we could spend I'm sure we would be looking a bit higher profile. We ain't gonna kick on signing players for 5 million.

All those young players @villa4europe has mentioned that City have signed, are for the future, not the now, so that's irrelevant.

Nope, we're now punching for the league title with Championship players.

Proven like Torres, Diaby and Tielemens?

Not many top 4/6 teams go for Championship players. A bit underwhelmed over this.

We're a top three Premier League team consisting of Watkins, Konsa, Mings and Cash.

    (All Championship players, FYI).

The chances are Lenglet hasn't got a recall clause in his contract, he was loaned in after Mings got an injury that was going to keep him out for 12 months, it would be pretty short sighted for us to have negotiated terms that only covered half of that time.

    This.
