  1. Trs-T - No Houllier played him and he, seemingly, didnt want to know. He wouldnt defend, track back or do anything else really. He insisted on trying to play flick's all the time and none of them came off. Just bear in mind we've been paying this git 60K a week since he signed.
  2. Hello General Did you ever meet President Kennedy? Which President have you most admired over the years? Please pass my best wishes to Alex McLeish and wish him the best of luck.
  3. I'm not keen on him as a man or a player. Having your photo taken in a nightclub, lifting your shirt to show the six pack at 3.30am just about says it all. He's lazy and thinks he's better than he is. However we've got a manager from Govan now and they dont take shit off brainless prat's like Stephen Ireland.
  4. Ferguson likes McLeish because he's from Govan (or Barrhead will do)
  5. You conveniently left sir Alex Ferguson off that list. Good mates with McLeish apparently. Not that that matters like. Stories that Fergie recommended him, which he would coming from Barrhead a suberb of Govan. (slight exaggeration).
  6. Someone like Rijkaard would want 5m+ a year. Capello is on 6m a year so its relatively cheap.
  7. It does smack of "I've had enough' doesnt it. This NFL lockout is a ball breaker for him though.
  8. Is Alex McLeish the footballing equivalent of Showaddywaddy?
  9. I have a terrible feeling not getting McClaren is going to come back and stick it up our colon.
  10. Well we haven't got Big Sam and if anyone wants to cheer themselves follow TheBig_Sam on twitter absolute comedy genius. I dont know Big Sam, I just dont know
  11. This is Birmingham, not the leafy lanes of Kent. Poor language isnt a barometer of integrity. There was no violence, no vandalism and I haven't heard of any arrests. I am afraid that poor language chanted en masse is a barometer, unless you believe that there are no decent people in Birmingham and that our women, children and old people should be subjected to this kind of thing. That a precious argument. All I can say is that I've heard bad/poor language every time I've been to Villa Park or any other ground from day one (1974).

  13. Actually, had they appointed Flores and he had failed people would be ripping Flores and the board apart and I think you know that as well. It doesn't take much for fans to turn on a manager, a few poor results or a streak of boring football and the hunt is on. Football fans are very, very sensitive when it comes to managers and their performances. I do think that or I wouldnt have said it. I dont think Flores would have failed though. We've just missed so many golden opportunities. Rijkaard and Flores (reportedly) want the job.
  14. The 'prem experience' prerequisite has put too much constarint on them. If they appointed Flores and he failed no one would have blamed them.
  15. To be fair that is just anecdotal evidence and nothing really concrete if you're looking for numbers. Not saying the lad is right, just pointing it out... Normally I think website views aren't representative but this is just overwhelmingly across the board. The newspaper polls and the protest bear this out.
  16. Eames - Look at his record. Alex Ferguson it is not (who I bet has recommended him because he's from Govan) I dont understand why you discredit fellow Villa supporters who acted with great integrity yesterday.
  17. This is one of the majorly angering points, perhaps why I'm even more annoyed today. The club dont appear to acknowledge anything that a LOUD proportion of their fanbase is saying. No reaction to all the people that demonstrated and the only clips we get to hear is "its only a few people" or "fans should butt out" or whatever nonsense has been spouted. Total disregard for the fans, a 600 (being the widely reported figure) people turning up on such short notice alone is some indiciation that fans arnt happy but they dont give a shit. It's like your no longer a voice in your own club (Its Randy's club). Eames - While I respect your view, are you discounting the polls which overwhelmingly (95%) state that the fans don't want McLeish. I wouldn't underestimate the great indigenous Aston Villa supporter.
  18. I'm starting to suspect that Mr Lerner is planning an exit. If Downing follows Young out and the nose is appointed as manager it will only reinforce that suspicion. Guess he'll need the extra cash to get his AVFC tatoo removed. I posted an article about the ramifications of the NFL lockout for Aston Villa in this thread yesterday. Financially disastrous for the Browns ergo us.
  19. Why on earth are they setting themselves up for more disasters and upheaval once McLeish has a few bad results and the fans inevitably get on his back. What happens then ??? The board take another age to find another manager. McLeish could prove everyone wrong but I dont see it happening. Furthermore they didn't want to listen to us and after all that's been said its very disappointing.
  20. I can see things coming to a halt over money and there seems to be a correlation developing here.......money.
  21. I'm banking on the fact he (Lerner) will listen to the fans. Poyet is an option. Lambert isn't an option (close ties with St.Martin apparently). Rijkaard an even bigger opportunity as long as they drop this stupid 'prem experience' constraint.
  22. there is nowhere near 2000 people in that photo , where are those figures coming from ? There's another bunch down the Witton end having a sit down protest. and then they got up and breached the gates to the car park.
  23. 10minute leaders on ITV local and SSN. Protests getting coverage and if they appoint McLeishh now I shudder to think of what will happen. Who the hell is advising them??
