Does nobody care that this man actually ensured we are still a premier league team? Talk of hoping he gets injured and ends his career may be in jest but boy is it crude.

He would be crazy to want to stay IMO.

My words werent in jest whatsoever... F**k him sideways... If he signs a contract, he should honour it... If we HAD be relegated and he had a release clause, BY ALL MEANS, we wouldnt have a leg to stand on and he could go....

    BUT

We weren't and he didnt... So he needs to shut up, pull on the shirt and put the ball in the net like he is meant to and his agent needs to help with sponsorship and whatever else it is that agents are meant to do without acting like overpaid pimps for giggalos in sportswear

He kept us up.  Be grateful for that and be happy we are getting big money to improve the team.  He doesn't owe us anything.

Erm... what about honouring the rest of the 4 year contract he and his agent were more than happy to sign less than 12 months ago?

Im fairly certain he owes us enough to shut his mouth, do his job and play football whilst wearing our shirt and crest until the date on a certain piece of paper that resembles an employment contract that has the scribble that roughly looks like his name on it expires... It should be down to another club to make a bid that we are willing to except or for us to say he is welcome to leave before he is allowed to make any choices regarding his future... He should have no rights but to kick a ball and do as he is told.... He is paid FAAAAR too much as it is... Until he decides to retire, his rights as a human being should also be forfeit... After all, he could have joined the military, earned a shite side less and been shot at for a living... You take the rough with the smooth!

Maybe I'm mad here or a bit of a tinted glasses kinda guy, but if had just been relegated or the club looked as if it were going nowhere, striving for nothing, I could completely understand. But we're not, we're doing alright and we look good to improve a fair bit next season. I find it astonishing that he doesn't back himself to give another year here, bang in 30 goals this time and impress the world even more, then go to a bigger club than Spurs on much, much bigger wages.

It boggles the mind, the human attitude. He's only **** 22...

It may well be the agent trying to get the best deal he can right now.

Football is a pretty fickle sport. Benteke could do his knee during preseason training and not play again. He might have a difficult second season and fall out of favour.

His hype is very high right now due to a strong start to the year. His agent probably wants to strike whilst the iron is hot and secure a contract that will set him up as a millionaire whilst he can.

If he did a Casiraghi, made a big money move, ruptured his cruciate and had to quit forever... THAT would be the most beautiful and poetic thing to happen right about now...

  4. We should make a deal with Spurs... We will sell you Benteke for £25m.... AFTER you sell Bale to whoever for however much... Why should we lose what everyone else sees as our crown jewel and they not lose theirs??

  5. I hope for 3 things

    I hope:
A - We sell him for a hefty profit
B - We sign someone who scores and provides more than he does that clearly takes a shine to us and doesn't have a sneaky bastard agent
    and finally
C - Christian Benteke and his agent fail at whatever club they engineer a move to and inexplicably both catch the ebola virus

Not much to ask for... Only fair...

  6. Im actually praying the reason for this decision is that he has seen Helenius in training and thought:
'Shit, this guy is good... I'm not going to be the big man on campus anymore... I could lose my place in the team and my spot in the World Cup... This Helenius guy is really, REALLY good...'

Its wishful thinking... but at least its semi-positive :-D

well, i knew this day would come i didn't expect it to be this soon. i am deeply dissapointed in benteke i would understand if u guys would ban me from the website. :(

Bite your tongue. Players, managers, owners, sometimes even stadiums -- they're all temporary. Fans are what make the club. You're one of us now. Villa til we die, Belgian Guy.

Not your fault BG... You, like us, are just 'a fan'... and although some players harp on about how important the fans are... Its just lip service... They don't give a monkeys about us... We see players come and players go.... Sometimes they stay and actually love the club (alas Gabby and Weimann)... Sometimes they scarper when it suits them like Messrs Yorke, Milner, Barry, Downing and, in this case, Tekkers... We will make a tidy profit and, fingers crossed, Helenius will be our diamond we picked up on the sly this season that nobody has heard of and everybody underestimates

Never heard of this matey before this thread, but by the sounds of it, if we indeed ARE in for him, he isn't exactly moving mountains to come and play for us... Sounds like a bit of a clearing in the woods to be honest... 'I want to play in the Premier League' 'My decision will be made imminently'... Then some UAE team and apparently Kiev come in and he is thinking twice and dragging his feet... If we sign him and he is good, great stuff! but by the way he has gone about things building up to it, I have been put off by his attitude

You managed to conclude all that from a bunch of copy and paste twitter bollocks?

Reports on skysports, reports on here and articles in online newspapers to be perfectly honest... I noticed the other day there was an article on SSN that then miraculously got taken off 3 hours later entitled 'Belhanda switch decision imminent' or something to that tune. So, back to my original point, IF we indeed are in for him and IF indeed he really does want to play Premier League football above and over everything else; he should be hounding his agent and his club to push the move through ASAP 'Aston Villa want me, I want Premier League football, get it done'

  9. Its nice to see people getting behind Agbonlahor in comparison to the broadsides he was getting 48 pages ago when McClueless was in charge and people were saying we should have sold him... He is one of us and loves the club more than anything... We should be busting our nuts to keep him with us till he decides to jack it in... May not be a legend to some now, but if he stays with us his entire career, I think it would be a bit stingy to not allow him that accolade...

  11. Still hate him for leaving us... Dont care if he did it for footballing reasons or if he won stuff at City (as if that is meant to make it better)... But for the sake of having an experienced head in the middle of the park for a couple of seasons, I would take him back in a heartbeat... Its not like he would be expecting to play 90 minutes every week and having someone with his know-how would certainly take the pressure off Westwood et al. when the going got tough

  12. Never cut out for this level... He tried and gave it his all but his all wasn't good enough... Cheers for the effort Brett - Someone is bound to want you.... Somewhere....

EDIT. That somewhere being the UAE apparently! Good on ya sport!

  13. This is by no means going to happen, isnt based on ITK reports or speculation of any kind.

I have supported the Villa since I knew who they were (I'm 28 - probably found out who the Villa were when I was 12)... and since then, I cant think of three players who stuck out as becoming genuine fans of the club and making a real impact.

Mellberg bleeds claret and blue, as does Laursen and even Carew said he would play for us for free... Surely they are all past it to play for us... but not to help nurture our young side and help iron out the creases and the errors.

    What does anyone else think?

  14. No one got a great feeling from Benteke, Lowton, Westwood or Sylla... Give the kid a chance and trust Lambert... He wouldnt have signed the lad if he didnt think he had something to prove or he could do something... Forget Dawkins... If Lambert thought he was worth it in the long haul, he would have signed him... not loaned him!

  15. I was born as the third son of three children to a family from Birmingham in Good Hope Hospital and, in my 28 years, have only lived in Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham for at most 18 months of them...

That being said... Both of my elder brothers are Villa fans, my dad is a Villa fan, my Granddad was a Villa fan, my Great granddad was a Villa fan, all of my extended relatives (on my dads side) are Villa fans... I couldn't and, and in hindsight, wouldn't choose to be anything other than a Villa fan.

    P.S.
I have a soft spot for Arsenal because my granddad on my mums side was an Arsenal fan and a bloody good bloke... but the rest of her extended family support the Blues so, needless to say, I don't talk to them much whatsoever

couple of Mills i would imagine?

Naw, he's worth more than that

That is one of the funniest posts I have read/seen since being aware of this website... Kudos to you sir!

  17. Its all looking rather positive at the Villa now... Remember when we used to sit with our thumbs up our asses waiting for the last few days of the transfer window before seeing any new signings? and they were mostly British and usually overpriced because they had to be people that had 'premier league experience'? Yeah, so do I... No more though... Lambert is pulling in players with something to prove and with value for money too... Very exciting times to be a Villa fan... I love it! UTV!!!!
