Can’t remember the last time I enjoyed watching Villa play.
-
I think some fans have to get away from the personal crap. The club appointed Gerrard, the club buys players, we don’t know what goes on on a daily basis within the club.
I believe every player and manager go to training and every match wanting to be successful.
Its ok to show our emotions I just believe a lot is misdirected at times and should never be personal.

I like Amorim, he may well be the next big manager in Europe and we will have to decide whether we can take another risk with someone who doesn’t have much experience. I don’t believe there is a comparison to Gerrard, he was never the right choice for the club.
Personally I’d rather we go for Emery, he ticks all the boxes and will get us out of the current mess.
I think we may end up with Dyche though due to our current position and internal issues. He would get us out of this mess, I’m sure of it.

Here have an Emery flexible tactics* video
*I know, a manger who changes tactics based on the situation, crazy
And Danjuma "Emery is a tactical mastermind!" (they went on to draw the second leg and went through)
We would be bloody lucky to get hold of Emery.I was reading an article this morning saying that Emery's tactics would better suit our players over Poch due to Poch's high press and concerns over the current midfield, Ings, Countinho etc to work within that style.
It made some sense and hopefully the owners are making similar assumptions, rather than having another manager and having to change the squad again.

I think the comments reflect what most of us have been feeling.
Last month I stopped renewing my Optus Sport account because I was over waking up at 1, 2, 3am in the morning and paying to watch this dross.
A new manager will be appointed, and we will go again as I have for the past 46 years.

'twill be interesting to see how this develops.
It's pretty obvious that McGinn needs dropping, at the very least.
Does the new manager give the armband back to Tyrone?
Or does he give it to Martinez, or Young?
It will be an early challenge for the incoming boss. Put on a platter by Gerrard.
If i was walking in as manager, the first thing I would do is sit down with McGinn and help him come to the decision to step down as captain even if it's just for the rest of the season so he can concentrate on his football.
I'd then make Young (won't be playing every game) captain for the rest of the season (don't believe that will be questioned and be a bit of a reset) and revert to Martinez when Young isn't playing.

Gerrard’s ego was ultimately the problem.
He was a champion player, however coaching is different from being a player, the ability to communicate your tactics clearly, to break information down to educate and teach your players, the psychology of performance and ultimately man management.
Theres a reason most elite athletes are not not elite coaches, sometimes the ones who have to work hard to be good learn more from developing the skills, rather than those who are naturally gifted.

Nothing to celebrate, Gerrard should never of been appointed, hopefully the club learns from this mistake.
Gerrard was a deer in headlights the last 2 months and just reacting at the last minute in the end. I hope he is able to salvage his coaching career somewhere else, but has a lot to learn and can’t be fast tracked again.

The biggest challenge for the club in attracting a top manager is the damage that has been done by Gerrards appointment. The club should have pulled the trigger 6 weeks ago, now it’s a potential relegation scrap with a playing group that has seen two managers sacked within a 12 month period.
A lot of promises will need to be made to possibly attract one of these managers, the question is whether the club is in the position to meet them?

Purslow made a bad decision on appointing Gerrard, but the day to day business of the club has been excellent under his tenure.
Hopefully now the owners know this and will restrict his ability to interfere in football matters.

Yes but one of the managers was as successful as mr bean would be managing us.
That’s just semantics.

I dont believe this. Anyoje can see we are under acheiving and that we actually have a dceent squad.
Whoever comes in if he gets up to 12 th lets say they will be asuccess story here in their 1st season
You mean like Gerard did last season…?
Your right the squad is underachieving, but this is the same squad who will now have the scalps of two managers in 12 months, that’s what any decent potential manager will be considering.

The club should have put Gerrard out of his and our misery a month ago, but didn’t have the bottle because it was Gerrard.
Should never have been appointed and should never have gone on for this long and now has put the club in jeopardy of relegation.
What decent manager would even want to touch the club now?

Very happy to see this news with Doug, I can buy a new jersey now.

I don’t think it has anything to do with confidence.
They all all very good players and not getting the right clear messages from the manager and are playing confused, as they don’t know their roles.
A good manager makes his messages simple so the players understand what is required, it’s obviously not occurring.
He needs to go, so the season can be saved.

When a manager isn’t getting the best out of his players and making them look worse than they are, surely their time is up?
If the club don’t pull the trigger tonight, they aren’t serious.

I said from the start he should be given 12 months, but that is nearly up and if anything, we are probably worse than when he first came in.
I'd rather us pull the trigger now and try and get a reaction to get the 3 points against Forrest. Get the new manager in now and give them time, hopefully the squad will react and get the club in a better position prior to the WC break.
I just don't see how it improves and that should worry those who are making the decisions.

We basically stopped playing after the goal, balls played back in crowded areas by players, play was far too slow, when we did create some good movements, they were followed up by poor first touches.
A good team would have put 4 or 5 against that Southampton team today, not good enough.
Don’t know what Gerrard was so happy about at the end of the game, first half was just a pass, but poor against a poor team in the second half.
-
I didn’t mind it also, thought the av was clever, but prefer to see the fill name there someone.
-
He needs 9-10 points over next 4 games to keep his job.
-
It’s amazing how people are making excuses for Man City. They could have rested players as they have a CL game with Sevilla midweek I believe but turned up with basically their best 11 as they wanted the 3 points.
Pep was unhappy, Villa came to play.
Mings was awesome today, put Haaland in his pocket.

I think the problem with McGinn is he was signed to be a championship player with the potential to be a PL player, but is he really a top 10 club PL player? He has stagnated and struggles with intricate game plans, his role under Smith would have been far simplified.

While it was a better performance, I’m not sure whether it was from the players reacting to the boos from the fans last home game or they are still playing for Gerrard?
The emotion displayed says it was for the supporters and that’s great they are showing they care, but it needs to be more than that week in week out.
I wanted to give Gerrard time, but it has run out. He needs three points next week IMO to get more time.

ESR is worth more because he is english. That is always a premium.
Maybe, but he was a promising player when we were bidding prior to his break out season and Luiz is a Brazilian international with a way better CV.
£30m + was the real number to get Luiz, Arse we’re trying to get him on the cheap.
