  1. He may go onto be a very good player, but rarely do athletes with a bad attitude ever go on to do anything but promise to deceive.

Good riddance and he’s guaranteed himself to be bood for the rest of his playing career if he ever does make it back to Villa Park.

I know I’ll be probably be labelled mad for turning my nose up at Tielemans, but wasn’t he a little lazy and unfit last year?

He was, but had more to do with some injuries we was carrying most of the season to my knowledge, but fancy Gerrard would get the best out of him.

He will be going to a bigger team than us in the next 12 months.

Right now we need to be signing players that can mould into a player like Tielemans at 25 years old. Sangare at 22 years old would be that player for me; a brilliant player, who will only increase in value once signed.

Really, thought Gerrard was looking for experience. Tielemans is at the right age and no guarantee the big clubs will be in for him. A signing like him will balance the midfield.

  4. It’s funny how people look from afar and make decisions on who they believe is the best person to be captain. The reality is it’s the day to day interactions, their communication skills, leadership, life away from football etc that are all taken into account as to who is the best choice for captain of a club.

I wasn’t a fan of TM’s appointment as captain but also feel for him to lose it. I think he’ll be a better player without it and why McGinn will be a better player with it.

Why did you think it was an odd choice?

Grealish was captain in name only. Tyrone was always the leader on and off the pitch.

Didn’t say it was an odd choice, thought it was the wrong choice. Being a leader on field is great, but Captain is something different. I want someone who lives and breathes the club, don’t think that is TM.

Whose said he isn’t guaranteed to start every match?

The manager, he's clearly stated every position is up for grabs and will be chosen on form, if TM was locked in as captain we would have confirmed it already. And the club bought a left sided CD who is an upgrade on the current one.

  7. At the end of the day do we really want this type of player at the end who lauds over some type of superiority? He can go to these other clubs and not play football, even if he did sign for Villa, if he came good, he'd still be out the door like Grealish.

As someone already said, there's little risk for these other teams to sign him, none of them would be in for 20 million.

He thinks he's bigger and better than the club...bye!

On the flip side 4 years in, £400mil investment and we are finishing 14th.

And if it wasn’t for the owners we most likely would be in the Championship or League One… see Sunderland, Derby etc

  9. The reality is we don’t know what goes on behind closed doors.

I believe a Sanson is a quality player and don’t believe he has been given an opportunity to cement a position, in regards to McGinn I do wonder whether he’s reached his level, he was unconvincing IMO for a majority of last season, the consistency went out the window.

I'm assuming these blue bottles are different to the ones in the UK and Ireland. Otherwise I have been dicing with death my whole life.

EDIT: just googled they're a Jellyfish. A bit more dangerous than an annoying house fly.

yep they must be different have long tenticles here about two metres long was stung by one in the ocean when about 8 years old, they just wrap themselves around you, hurts likes hell. Remember going to the ambulance and having metholated spirits poured on me, now they just put ice on. lol

Never realised there were snakes in the UK.. well in residential areas anyway.

    Ignorant I know.

It's one of the reasons why, whilst Australia is beautiful, i'm scared to go. lol

More chance of being stung by a blue bottle, jelly fish or taken by a shark in the ocean than being bitten by a snake. Lol there’s also the red back on the outdoor dunny, white tail spiders, funnel web etc, so you have to be really unlucky to be bitten by a snake. PS make sure you bring your running shoes as the red belly snakes have been known to chase people if you annoy them… 😂

    Of course! No doubt.

Doesnt mean we don’t pay it to get him in for what he can do for us.  Again, just being devils advocate, I can’t make my mind up.

I have, he’s overpriced and there’s better players for less money in Europe.

  14. He was a solid signing for a promoted team and improved while at the club with his second season.

Thought he would be worth at least $20m but I guess his early season performances and Gerrard not wanting him left Newcastle with the advantage in the negotiations.

  15. Seamless appointment again from the club with an assistant with more experience and proven ability. More importantly he knows Gerrard.

Have a feeling this was completed a few weeks ago.

For me as well. Can see an England v Argentina semi or final. No other nation is particularly impressing be tbh. Belgium and France seem to suffer from the same ego problem Man Utd have been struggling with.

Already have my bet on Argentina they just have that look about them, it’s going to come down to who can handle the conditions best, so fingers crossed. They made Italy look ordinary today .

    Well done Emi.

  17. Do people ever think that Gerrard had a lot of trust in Beale, hence why he allowed him to take a lot of the training etc.

Its Gerard’s style of play and how he wants the team to play. I’m sure there’s a list of 3-4 names of potential asst managers to come in who suit Gerrards style and will fit into the coaching team.

Beale was rumoured to be close to leaving prior to Gerrards appointment at Villa, everyone knew this was coming and the club have the next asst manager ready in the wings once they negotiate their terms/release.

  18. I wish he was good enough, but he just isn’t. He’s a quality championship player and will do a job for a team looking at promotion, but not a PL player.

If Forrest have ambitions of staying in the PL I can’t see them wanting him on the books. Maybe another loan if he proves the doubters wrong then a buy clause at the end of the season, but that’s a stretch.

  19. I think in this instance with Kamara he’s one of the few players these days who realised that we have a plan for him and not just an asset to stick on a bench. Credit to Gerrard and the club for visiting the lad in his house and laying out the plan and the ambition, because it obviously worked.

The club has has several sliding doors moments over the last 40 years and for whatever reason in most cases those who run the club didn’t take the right approach or option. In some cases like the late 2000’s it was the obscene money spent by the likes of Manure City and Chelski that probably prevented us from playing Champions League football as under normal circumstances they wouldn’t have been competitive, this alone changes our fortunes for the 2010’s.

Football used to be cyclic, but greed has unfortunately changed that over the past 25 years or so and the authorities closed the shop so other teams with rich benefactors can’t make the quantum leap others where allowed to to gain success.

We are very lucky to have the owners we now have and they are setting the club up for long term success and sustainability. It may not be sexy, but occasionally we will have a win like attracting a player like Kamara.

Kamara asked about his move by French press...

“It’s my choice. I had this feeling with Aston Villa, & I was very happy. When the coach comes to see you at home, when he makes the trip, when he explains the project, his ambition for me in the years to come, I take this into account.

“Especially when it comes from Steven Gerrard, one of the best midfielders in the world in his position. It impacted my decision. I can’t wait to join him to work..”

When you read those comments, it’s a bit of fresh air. Considering most players probably get, “come to us we have rich owners who pay you a lot of money to sit on bench and win trophies”.

Those sought of players are a dying breed, really looking forward to see him play next season.
