  1. No-ones more guilty of cheating over the years than Manchester United. Chelsea aren't angels I know but they're not as bad as those foul red ****

I've never really seen Man Utd as cheats. They've been the best side in the country, playing with flair and had some amazing players in the past 15 years.

Whereas Chelsea's game is based around diving, spoiling tactics, surrounding the referee and some rank football thrown in.

Plus, Man Utd are a football club with money generated by being a fantastic side....whereas Chelsea are a russians play thing who'd be in the Championship without him.

Chelsea would be in the Championship without Abramovic?

It's all about luck, if Knighton had bought the Munichs they'd be in the Championship too. There's a lot of jealousy aimed at Chelsea at the moment, can't understand it myself.

Also talking about Chelsea surrounding the referee suggests to me you haven't actually been watching the game for very long or are a United fan.

  2. Come on you Chelsea, smash the cheating words removed Very Happy

Hang on, you want Chelsea of all people to combat cheats?

Isn't that like sending murderers to arrest petty vandals?

No-ones more guilty of cheating over the years than Manchester United. Chelsea aren't angels I know but they're not as bad as those foul red ****. Besides which Chelseas fans didn't boo Ron Saunders, and their manager didn't tap up Dwight Yorke so **** United.

  3. Hopefully Chelsea will win 5-0 and United will be denied 6 clear penalties, which causes Ferguson to suffer a fatal heart attack.

I've bet on Chelsea to win this, and Fergusons on my Dead Pool list so a nice double earner would be good. I don't think I could ever support Manchester United in a game of football - I even support Blues when they're playing United. Shower of words removed the lot of them.

  4. I'm sure Dudley Moore referred to asparagus making his piss smell once in a Derek and Clive skit, so it must be true. I've never noticed it myself but I normally break wind while I'm pissing and no way is something subtle like asparagus going to compete with that unholy stench.

  5. If Calzaghe beats Hopkins, where will he go next?

    Will he finally retire?

Roy Jones said at the weigh in today that he wants to fight Calzaghe next.

Its a shame that fight couldn't have been made 3 or 4 years ago.

Yes, it's funny Calzaghe didn't move up to light heavyweight when Jones was still active, isn't it....scared of having his head taken off I suspect.

I'm curious as to how Jermain Taylor was running scared of Calzaghe too, he fought Hopkins twice, Wright once and Pavlik twice yet he's scared of Calzaghe? I think not.

  6. Actually Hopkins may well fight off the back foot in this fight....but I'd expect him to take the lead more often than not and I suspect this will negate a lot of the excitement, Hopkins doesn't do excitement, he does winning.

He'll land a lot of lead right hands straight down the pipe because Calzaghe is vulnerable to that punch, and he'll clinch a lot and use forearms, elbows and even his head to rough Calzaghe up. Calzaghe may well get cut in this one.

I'm not saying Hopkins will win, but I do think he'll take away Calzaghes workrate.

  7. Hopkins has never been knocked out and was only ever down when fighting at altitude. Even Jones Jr couldn't put him down so I doubt Calzaghe will - Calzaghes power isn't great at 168 and I doubt it'll get better at 175.

I voted for Hopkins on points but that's mainly due to me wanting him to win rather than thinking he will. If I were going to place a bet on this fight it'd be on it going the distance though, can't see there being a stoppage unless age has finally caught up with old man Hopkins.

  8. Buy the Goodfellas cookbook from Play or Amazon or whatever. Well worth the money for the stories in it but on top of that you'll learn to cook a lasagne that is guaranteed to remove knickers, should you have a female round for dinner.

    Take my word for it.

  9. General, even playing games abroad is ok by me.

But Randy and yourself have shown yourselves to be proud of Villa's traditions.

Well, here's a letter William McGregor, a man who gave decades of his life to Aston Villa, wrote 120 years ago:

I beg to tender the following suggestion as a means of getting over the difficulty: that ten or twelve of the most prominent clubs in England combine to arrange home-and-away fixtures each season

And so the league was founded.

That's it. That's all we ask. Change whatever else, but that's how our league works. Two games against each side. No seedings. A level playing field.

One hundred and twenty years of tradition, General. One hundred and twenty years. My grandad is 95 and watched Aston Villa in the 1920s. He told me tonight he's done with football now.

More than any other club, Aston Villa should be the one to challenge this, to stop it in its tracks.

We say 'Proud History', General. Let Aston Villa make us proud again, even if it does cost a few bucks.

If this went through 19 clubs to 1, and Villa were that one, I'd be as proud as the day we won the European Cup.

HUGE round of applause to that post, best one in the thread.

  10. Easily.

Going to a comment tony made...

My instructor had me doing 90mph in a 50, he said Id rather you knew how to handle a car at speed now than learn the hard way.

    Top bloke.

My instructor had me doing pretty much the same thing, I was shitting myself at the time but he did me a big favour in hindsight.

I think everyone should be forced to ride a motorbike for a year before they're allowed to go out in a car - you learn a hell of a lot more about potential dangers and clearings in the woods making stupid manouvres when riding a bike.

  11. I'd say the flare proved that, but no doubt they'll get away with it......
General, is there anything that can be done to ensure that they don't get away with it?

It's bad enough our team getting humbled by this shower every time they come to VP but the way their fans always take the piss is rubbing salt into the wounds in the extreme.

  12. i thought hattons next fight would be against de la hoya?

also just liek to say cant mayweather go up a weight like hatton did? i think if hatton didnt hav eto go up a weight division he would have won.

Mayweather has been up and down the weights already - in his fight before this one he beat De La Hoya at 154 (light middleweight) and actually moved down 7lbs to face Hatton, who moved up 7lbs. Mayweather started his career at 130, so he's already fighting above his natural weight.

Using gaining 7lbs as an excuse is just wrong, Hatton was owned, outclassed and knocked out. No shame in it, he lost to one of the very best ever.

  13. He's too young to retire, he's in his prime.

He needs to return to his natural weight now, light-welterweight.

Fight someone like Junior Witter, another arrogant **** that wants a piece of Hatton.

I suspect he'll lose again if he fights Witter so I doubt he'll take that fight.

He'll go down to 140 again, take an easy comeback fight and then go for a belt - if he decides to carry on.

  14. According to BBC Sport, Hopkins said "I would never let me a white boy beat me" !!!

As a "white boy" theres a lot of things I could reply to that but I'd be called a racist.

I remember Alan Minter saying he "won't lose to a black man" before he fought Hagler (badly chosen words as it turned out)

I wonder if such a fuss will be made this time.....

Having said that I've followed Hopkins for years and he's not to be taken seriously, I suspect he's trying to make the fight hotter than it already is - he pulled the same shit on Felix Trinidad when he fought him, threw down the Puerto Rican flag in front of thousands of fanatical Trinidad fans. I remember a bunch of them attacked him and he sparked the first one out with a single punch and legged it :lol::lol:

He also apologised after the fight...but as I say it's just the way he is.

  15. See Hopkins and Calzaghe squaring up.

According to BBC Sport, Hopkins said "I would never let me a white boy beat me" !!!

    Get the fight on!

Hopkins always pulls stunts like that, I wouldn't take much notice of it. He's too old now anyway, Calzaghe should have fought him years ago.

  16. well witton lane i think calzaghe proved his point what a class act he his and no matter what you say p4p is one of the top 3 boxers in the world today. You say he avoided roy jones jnr but years ago jones jnr named his price for the fight warren accepted his demands but jones jnr increased his demands by double.hence him wanting to avoid calzaghe not the other way round.

You do seem to have a great knowledge of boxing and i agree jones jnr at his peak would beat calzaghe but your views on calzaghe are just crazy and embrassing and dont understand why you detest the guy so much.

You're repeating a story that Frank Warren likes to tell.....and like all Frank Warren stories, it's a lie.

I don't actually detest Calzaghe as a person, I'm sure he's a very nice man, loved small furry animals and pensioners etc.....I do detest the way he's ducked and dodged his entire career though. I'll say it again - what he achieved last night should have been achieved 6 or 7 years ago. Great fighters do not wait until their mid-30's before taking big fights.

  17. Every time he clowns someone the goalposts are moved it's happened a dozen times. Calzaghe wanted those 2 his whole career the 2 yankees though have dodged for different reasons. Yankee yankee hype. Typical typical typical silly British people.

So Jones and Hopkins have dodged Calzaghe in the past....any proof of that?

Bear in mind that Roy Jones, Bernard Hopkins and Glen Johnson have all fought each other at some stage in their careers, and all 3 of them have been touted as possible opponents for Calzaghe but the fights never happened. Seeing as we know that Calzaghe ducked out of a fight with Johnson TWICE then we can safely assume that he'd do the same with Jones and Hopkins :)

  18. Tagged the ultimate ducker. Brilliant but had Yank hype. Especially look at the Hopkins/Calzaghe situation around aboutish the new century please. Calzaghe beat tons of good fighters but not the Yank signature names which where all this anti Calzaghe hype comes from. Calzaghe fought the best the who would fight him but held back by lack of huge promoter money, his absolute brilliance and him coasting through in 1st gear not top class fighters.

Calzaghe beat tons of good fighters??

    Coasted in 1st gear?

    Seriously, you just sound anti-American.
