  1. If Tim doesn't want him here, that's good enough for me.

It's also blind faith which nobody deserves in any aspect of life.

It's not blind faith to acknowledge that someone else has more information available to them and/or is better qualified to make a more informed decision.

IF Gil is not to stay at our club, I trust that the decision was either Gil's (possibly not settled well in the UK or has another offer/club/country more preferable to him), or Sherwood's (possibly Gil's attitude in training, concern over suitability to the Premier League or simply that Sherwood prefers existing Villa players in the same position), or a combination of both.

    I'm happy to accept Gil's and/or Sherwood's decision. :)

    Not disagreeing with you.

The OP shows blind faith, which I disagree with.

I'm not convinced the OP shows blind faith. It is possible the OP didn't feel the need to explain that TS has more information and knowledge at hand.

  3. When setting their minimum sale value, Villa should remember that one of the clubs supposedly interested in Benteke spent £35m on Andy Carroll some 4 years ago. Whilst Carroll is english, it's not like Benteke has the disadvantage of disappearing off to the African Cup midseason.

With Benteke being a much more complete player than Carroll and the dramatically increased TV money, I'd demand from Liverpool double what they paid in 2011 for Carroll and a mere £50m for cash from any other club. I'd like to be Tom Fox when dealing with Liverpool's squeals over our ridiculously high valuation. I'd say "Well you started it in January 2011!"

  4. Please let's not have another Barry type saga endlessly yo-yo ing for weeks.

If he wants to go, let him go in June which would give us adequate time to get in replacements for the start of the season. I wouldn't begrudge him it if he scores the cup final winner.

Yes, let him go in June.

Let's not haggle over the price or get the best deal or anything.

My point precisely! I find it annoying when I read lines such as 'just let him go' when there's a strong possibility the clubs bidding will be taking the p!ss with their offers. If CB's agent goes to the media about his client's 'desire to move' and Liverpool (for example) make a "final offer, take it or leave it" of around £20m, should we really 'just let him go'? B@ll@cks to that!!!

Easy said than done. Supposing a club comes in with a first bid of £18m and follows it with a final offer of £22m. Do we just 'let him go'?

  6. In all seriousness though despite it appearing unlikely on paper the reality is that it's not absurd that we could still drop.

At what odds would you consider the possibility 'absurd'? A 1 in 20 chance? 1 in 50? 1 in 100?

  7. Does Benteke have a £32m release clause in the contract he signed? If not and he does want to go it should be for £40m plus.

No release clause that is known. I remember PF stating that Villa don't believe in release clauses not long before CB signed a new contract.

  8. Our fans entered the field before the game had even finished. The fine is warranted on that basis, in my opinion.

I expect this dictated the size of the fine. Would have been £100k or less otherwise.

I'm interested in the arrangement, if any, clubs have when damage is caused by away fans. Does the home club just accept the seats/toilets/fire extinguishers need to be repaired/replaced at the home club's cost or do they send the bill (in private) to the away club?

I think it is commonly accepted that the fans mistakenly thought the ref had blown for full time.

Compare this to the fine received by clubs whose fans subject black players to racist abuse.  Absolutely ridiculous.  The Albion fans could have badly injured people with those broken seats.

Unfortunately the FA will have witnessed the invasion, albeit small, immediately after Sinclair's goal - well before the final whistle. The invasion in the 93rd minute was also pretty stupid as I'm sure only a few thought the match was over whilst the rest thought "we might as well run on too". I have no real issue with the celebratory invasion after the final whistle, although in an ideal world (never going to happen), they would have allowed 30 seconds or so for the boggies players to drag their sorry arses down the tunnel.

I hope Villa sent wba the bill for all the damage their idiots caused.

  10. No surprise for me. I thought it would be more than £100k but less than £250k. £200k seems like a large enough warning to the club and it's fans without going over the top (remembering some media talk of kicking us out of the cup).

I hope West Brom were made to pay for the damage their idiots caused.

  11. Is there a chance that Gil hasn't settled here in the UK and isn't keen on staying, or that his agent has another move lined up for him?

Makes no sense to play someone who won't be here next season instead of someone like Grealish who will hopefully be the future of our team for the next five or 10 years.

  12. How are the exit polls counted?

There are only about 10% of the seats that may change hands. I think they would round that up to around 100 possibly marginal seats. The pollsters ask people who leave those polling stations who they voted for. Total surveyed was 20,000 so probably around 200 replies from around 100 seats.

EDIT - I took a guess at 100 seats, turns out it's 141 seats. I also assume they chose marginal seats.
