funny you say that. My Dad showed me how to do it standing up when i first started wiping... and then a few years later i remember my dad seeing me wipe like that, and telling me i was doing it wrong. he explained that standing was just whilst i was learning how to wipe, but then it should be done sitting down.

have you not been watching series 5? definitely the best thing on TV currently, its the only program that i am waiting for the next episode wondering whats going to happen. pop into the Lost thread, and see the reactions each week to the episodes.

very true. as a one-off series, it would have been regarded as something so special. kind of like series 2 of 24.

Battlestar Galactica - one of the most critically acclaimed series on TV, and one that most fans will agree is fantantic. 5% of the voters on here think its the best thing, and many more like me would put it 2nd or 3rd. Smallville - Must be pretty good to get to Series 8 without any loss in audience, and a pretty good audience to begin with. Sarah Connor - i agree a bit lame, but when it started it had potential to become great. as it turned out, it just became shit instead.

read 'Blind Faith' by Ben Elton. its about a world where having any secrets is illegal. everyone knows everything about everyone all the time. its actually a satire on '1984', but a good read about secrets as well.

i do agree there is a lot of rubbish in the charts (like Pussycat Dolls, Britney, etc). But there's always been lots of rubbish, but over time you forget about the rubbish & keep listening to the good stuff. So it seems better on retrospect. In 10 years time, we'll remember the good stuff, and have forgotten about Pussycat Dolls. Same with all the awful awful rubbish from the 80's & 90's that we have forgotten about. i look at the charts each week, and i find that the majority isn't awful (though a decent portion is). Its just that you hear about the rubbish stuff in the media a lot, so you assume that the charts is dominated by that sort of stuff. (ps - the chart was someone posting USA commercial radio airplay chart)

how about some of you list your current songs that you like - i bet you they are also in the charts.

not sure where you got that list from, but thats not the current top40, nor has it been.

from what you are 'all currently listening to' thread Manics - got three of their last 5 singles at No2. Kasabian - last 8 singles all got in the charts, the lowest at no22, the highest at no 8. Kid Rock - last single no1 (2009) Prodigy - last single - no3 (2009) Foo Fighters - always get at least top10 with every song. Kate Bush - last single no4 (2005)

I'm assuming this is more about modern charts... only a few of those would get in the charts now... Chart music now is all Lady GaGa, Beyonce and talentless fuckwits who were on a reality show. I think mine and your definitions of 'chart music' are different ender4. i think you haven't listened to the charts lately. From the list above: Kid Rock - no 1 this year Prodigy - no 3 this year Foo fighters - always get at least top10 with every song. most stuff like this gets high up in the charts. why? because you all listen to it. thats what i've been trying to explain - you say you hate chart music, yet its made up of all the stuff you listen to!

:bonk: yet if you look at other music threads on this site, they all talk about chart bands (ie: the current Green Day thread). how is it that everyone thinks chart music is rubbish, yet pretty much everyone who talks about music on this site seems to talk about chart music. they just like to pretend its not chart music??
