  1. Found my old post in Hall Of Fame from 2010 when he was at Hoffenheim, i was raving on about him.. As i watch lot of german football. An suggested him in players to buy, also suggested him again last summer when was on free but got knocked down cos Gabby is meant to be a better striker people was saying on here. :? :? :?

bet people are kicking themselves now.. awesome striker

Newcastle will lose him, apparently £10million release clause in contract!!

Whats everyone think to him now?

My next suggestion is: Papiss Cisse of Freiberg who is as good as Demba!! and would be a steal at around 8-10million

Papiss Demba Cise is some player, love us to have try with him

Looks like we are both right mate  what a sensation he is turning out to be for Newcastle 8 in 8. Would have loved these two strikers (Demba Cisse and Ba) down the Villa!!!

ASTON VILLA are ready to snap up Herenveen star Bas Dost in a £7million deal this summer. The Dutch League top-scorer, 22, has confirmed Villa are leading the clubs trying to lure him away from Holland after Euro 2012.

Dost is also wanted by Valencia as a replacement for Roberto Soldardo but he wants a switch to the Prem.

The 6ft 5in striker has been dubbed the 'Dutch Peter Crouch' after smashing 23 goals this season.

Villa scout Arthur Numan has been tracking Dost and the Holland Under-21 ace is aware of a potential switch.

He said: "I have heard about the interest from Aston Villa and it is very flattering and nice.

"I have been aware of it for some time and I know that Aston Villa are not having a good season but it still looks a good move.

"I spoke with my agent and we have discussed the matter but there has been no further contact and I have to wait. I cannot say any more but maybe there will be developments."

Villa boss McLeish has been assured he has the funds for a high-profile signing this summer, despite unrest among the fans at his position with the club.

Bas Dost is ready to quit Dutch club Herenveen and join Aston Villa in the summer for £7million.

The Eredivisie’s leading scorer has confirmed Villa are leading the chase to sign him after Euro 2012.

Dost is also wanted by Valencia as a replacement for Roberto Soldardo, but he prefers a switch to the Premier League.

The 6ft 5in giant has been dubbed ‘the Dutch Peter Crouch’ after smashing 23 goals in Holland this season. Villa scout Arthur Numan has been tracking the striker for Alex McLeish and Dost is aware of a potential switch.

“I have heard about the interest from Aston Villa and it is very flattering and nice,” he said. “I have been aware of it for some time.

“Villa are not having a good season, but it still looks a good move.”

  3. I think we should go for him, i was mentioning Ricky van Wolfswinkel a few yrs back and he is doing brilliant at moment and cost the same for Sporting as what Dost would!!

Have seen Dost play a few times and he would fit into premiership well i believe.

Alex McLeish faces a battle with Valencia for Dutch sensation Bas Dost.

Villa boss McLeish wants the £5million-rated Heerenveen and Holland Under-21 star, who is the top scorer in the Dutch League with 22 so far this season.

But Spanish giants Valencia are ready to steal the Heerenveen hitman from under Villa’s nose, as they have identified him as a probable replacement for £20m-rated Roberto Soldado.

Soldado, who has replaced Fernando Torres in the Spain national team and could start ahead of the Chelsea striker at Euro 2012, is attracting Chelsea and Arsenal interest.

Seen Dost a number of times, these are type of players we should have been after for years!! 22 Years old and a goal machine!! i welcome him if this is true as he is quality!

also a chant could be based around Ray Parker Jr's "Ghost Busters" changed to der der der der der DOST BUSTERS :)

  5. Thing is with MON he always seems get a team playing better that is not his. When taken over from DOL and the Arsenal game and then on the team played well but with DOL team mainly and a few youngsters (Gabby & Luke Moore etc)

At Sunderland he has inherited Steve Bruce squad packed with better and better younger talent than we had at Villa back when he first started.

That James McClean looks an absolute bargain at 350k and is like a younger version of James Milner!! he will go on to better things, also they have Meylet, Colbeck, Elmohamady, Wickham, Campbell so a good basis of good youth.

But give it a few years when most of these will probably be dropped or sold (McClean??) and he starts buying 30+ journeymen (Davies, Heskey) on big money as well as Bridge and that Kyrgiakos but a many more the wheels will fall off and will end in tears and he will resign when their fans will start to question who he keeps buying old past it players on last day of the transfer window.

Like i say, at moment... he is probably god to them and can do no wrong, but this is Bruce's team and just like DOL team at time will work their socks off for him, until he starts buying his old past it players and mega money!!

Then we will all see what happens, like everyone says best Sunderland will do is around 8th.

  6. Apparently MON wants Papiss Cisse. Will be so pissed off if Sunderland sign him as he never once snapped up talent from the continent that we are wanted to see when he was here.

Would love to see Cisse at the Villa

  8. Lad is on fire something like 18 goals in last 10 games, already 5 career hat-tricks at 21, and 21 goals already this season

    Worth a punt?

Him coming on as a impact sub got to be better than Heskey or Fonz. imagine Gabby, Bent and Rhodes all at once!

Was thinking to time when Newcastle took a punt on a goalscorer named Andy Cole from Bristal City and look how that turned out! Rhodes very much in the Cole/Darren Bent mould.

    Whats everyone else think?

  9. came across this, and made me Laugh out loud!! Taken a while for any club to snap up this talented player :lol: didn't know he had signed for Hibs

    Garry O'Connor Comments

Garry O’Connor has described Isaiah Osbourne as Hibernian’s Patrick Vieira ahead of tomorrow’s trip to face Kilmarnock at Rugby Park.

The midfielder signed a two-year deal this week after being freed by his hometown club Aston Villa in the summer.

O’Connor knows his new team-mate after spending nearly four years with Villa’s bitter rivals Birmingham City and believes manager Colin Calderwood has pulled off a masterstroke by snapping up the 23-year-old.

  10. The Sun

ALEX McLEISH is ready with a £3million offer to give Alan Hutton a quick way out of Tottenham.

Big Eck wants to make the Scotland international one of his first signings at Aston Villa - 12 months after failing to lure him to Birmingham.

McLeish had a £6m bid for his former Rangers right-back rejected by Spurs last summer.

But now he is eyeing up a cut-price move for the defender after being told Villa cannot have England Under-21 star Kyle Walker on another loan.

Walker has just signed a new five-year deal and Spurs boss Harry Redknapp made it clear he expects him to challenge for a first-team place after impressing during loan spells with Villa and QPR last term and at this summer's European Under-23 Championships.

Hutton cost Tottenham a whopping £9m from Rangers in February 2008.

But the Scot is entering the final year of his contract and Spurs could be happy to cash in on a cut-price deal now rather than risk losing him for nothing next summer.

Hutton, 26, was already behind Vedran Corluka in the pecking order and is keen to make a fresh start away from North London after just 51 appearances in 3½ years at Spurs.

He also had a spell on loan at Sunderland in 2010 and Black Cats manager Steve Bruce wanted to sign him permanently - but was unwilling to meet Spurs' £5m valuation

  11. think it was lee probert. Around twenty mins in he was waving his hands around after a shocking decision where the quite few holte got annoyed. Was similar to what harry did few years back. Who can We write to, to get the book thrown at him? Arrogant as they come ref.

  12. I know its never gonna happen but If Ged did move to DOF someone like Eddie Howe (33 same age as Villas-Boas) as first team coach could work, heard he has such good relationship with his players at Bournemouth and now Burnley and like Villas-Boas he likes to play attacking football.

Or even Brendan Rogers (38) who was tutored like Villas-Boas under Mourinho, he always plays attacking football, Swansea very good side.

Like see someone younger as could build something special over the years.

  13. other football Darren Bent

My comments 3rd down on Darren

Some people on this forum do make me laugh, not long again a LOT of this forum was putting our new Holte End hero down, and a few was sticking up for him

I bet people putting Darren Bent down now can eat humble pie, Myself, Sir Gary Cahill and a few others mentioned they could see him scoring a shed load for us, to which majority of people on here said "he's rubbish", "Gabbys better (As IF :lol: ) we don't need Bent" etc etc.

I was saying to go and get Darren Bent when he was leaving Spurs as even at Spurs he had 1 in 3, and scored over 20 at Charlton and 17 the next season, and just knew he would do business at Sunderland, and when we signed him i was over the moon. Lot of people disagreed with myself and others saying "Stop going on about us getting Darren Bent" but it was obvious he would score loads at Villa

Will the people who made that mistake now admit to it on this topic, and eat humble pie 8)
