  1. Dont think Jenas would leave London to be honest, watched him this year a few times when he aint been injured and at times looks awesome, gets forward, he gets stuck in, hes got good vision and can find his man with a wide range of passing but then you can watch him and he is absolutely awesome, spoke to a few Spurs fans who say he is a bit hit and miss. Richardson is a decent prospect and looked great when he kept WBA up a couple of years ago, which lead to him getting in the England squad but he aint really played for ManUre. Appears to have the tricks and a bit of pace, and would be a threat with his set pieces, like most United youngsters and squad players are every loyal and dont tend to leave unless they are pushed, something I dont think Fergie will do
  2. I think it is in Jan or maybe just after the window closed that MON mentioned SWP and saying he may go back for him in the summer. I really hope he does. Ashley Young and Shaun Maloney are comfortable on either wing and behind the striker which would give MON real options if he bought Shaun Wright Phillips in aswell. Any three of Gabby, Luke, Young, Carew, Maloney, SWP and another striker (Bellamy, Defoe, Keane, Nugent, Bent all linked with us) would make an attack fit to take us into Europe. Add a centre midfielder (Barton, Sidwell, Reo-Coker, Sneijder, Appiah, Flamini) to go with Petrov, Barry, Berger, McCann, Davis, Gardner, and Osbourne would give us a mix of fight, creativity and variety that could both break up the play, protect the defence and supply the ball to the aforementioned forwards. Add a strong ball playing centre back (Distin, Davies, Abidal, Ben-Haim) to partner either Laursen, Mellberg or Cahill in the centre of defence. Add a powerful right-back who is both comfortable going forward or defending (Geremi, Dani Alves, Luke Young) thus giving more confidence in a our right sided midfielder or forward to push further forward. I believe this squad would definately see us challenge for a UEFA Cup spot next season, this squad would give MON options all over the field, make us flexible in attack and defence, would give us steel when needed, flair, pace, goals, clean sheets and most of all a team to be proud of whenever they pull on the claret and blue.
  3. Just heard that Owen Hargreaves would be able to leave Bayern Munich for about £17mil...would love us to try and entice him to B6!! Would be awesome!!!
  4. Yeah I agree aswell, I think Gary Cahill could be our John Terry, he throws himself in front of every ball and fights for everything, I think the more time MON gives him now in the first team, I think it will benefit Villa in the next few years. Would put him in front of Ridge at the moment but I think he too will be rested once Laursen gets up to full speed!
  5. Considering we now have Young, Moore and by the looks of things Maloney for that position, I can't see why he would them play Samuel there. Agree but you never know that MON is planning!!!! Dream Scenario......JLS+5MIL for Keving Nolan!
  6. Just read the O'Halloran thread, with him coming into the first team squad due you think it will signal the end of J'Lloyd at VP, saw him linked with Bolton. J LS hasnt played at LB for the past few weeks so MON might want him to cover the LWF position in the 4-3-3 Any ideas???
  7. does anybody else expect to see MON at Old Trafford on the bbc??? Think he may have been rushing through a deal for Smith, wouldnt surprise me though if we did sign Smith on loan that someone else will follow before the 30th
  8. Steve Sidwell has got to join this week!! Was reading somewhere that Nigel Reo Coker and Shaun Maloney are joining....sorry no links
  9. i think we will definately finish the window with at least a new striker keane, bent or bellamy being the most obvious. if spuds or plop get bent then we get either keane or bellamy depending on where bent decides to go or we get bent! 9mil for any of these strikers would be good business
  10. BTW Im sure Frank Arneson wasnt watching the Benfica Celtic game to watch Shaun Maloney, In sure he was rather watching Benfica captain and star player Simao Sabrosa, who plays on either wing and was linked with Liverpool and Chelsea in the summer....so we can still get Maloney and McGeady!!!!
  11. well i thought when we played them earlier this season he broke up more play and was all over the field tackling and generally making life a bit difficult for us in the middle of the park, but you may be right, would love to have him in the side. i think we would have another england challenger along with GB if we got sidwell, i also think he is more likely to come to us instead of city and the barcodes
  12. Just seen on the OS that the barcodes have joined us and man city in for steve sidwell!! well ive championed him for a while and he will be available in jan for a reduced price as his contract expires in the summer. will definately challenge mccann and fits the bill of what we want.....yound, enligsh and hungry....bit like milner but i aint going over that again!!!!
  13. comment by villa-76 posted 13 Hours Ago My signings would be David Villa from Valencia Stephen Appiah from Fenerbache Eric Abidal from Lyon Kevin Nolan from Bolton Romeo Castelen from Feyenoord (instead of Milner). Should cost us the best part of £40m for the above. Now that would be some spending ! add comment | complain about this comment found this on BBC 606, i like this guys ambition but dont think its realistic
  14. I dont think we will be able to get Darren Bent because of the fact that charlton will be struggling and wont want to lose their only goalscorer. Obviously if he wanted to leave and join a good club on the up then maybe If we are going to play 4-4-2 from now on then our striking options will be vastly improved because playing the 4-3-3 formation means we have to have a strong targetman in the centre with two wingers therefore overlooking players like Defoe, Darren Bent and Robbie Keane, although they have pace, they wouldnt be best used as wingers and probably wouldnt hold the ball up aswell as Angel. So playing the two up top you can mix and match the pair depending on who we are playing thats if MON will play 4-4-2...........................but i think he may!!!
  15. im sure it wont, we now have two 'target' strikers in juan pablo and sutton with baros feeding off the knockdowns expect another striker similar to Baros to come in...also with regards Sutton, Im sure MON wouldnt have sat down with him and said "Right Chris, I want you to play every game from the start, and you will be my first choice on the teamsheet and when I sign 4 or 5 new players to push us into the Champions League in January you will play in front of them!!!" He wouldnt have said that, Im sure he knows he is a short term solution hence the contract till the end of the season.
  16. i heard that bloke on SSN mention Lucarelli from Livorno, does anbody know who this is???
  17. With Luke Moore now out injured and MON looking likely to go with a 4-4-2 formation, will this change his transfer plans for Jan??? obviously Milan Baros didnt fit into the 4-3-3 system and may have left in the transfer window but now thats changed, Baros will now stay given that Moore may be out for the season. I think Gabby will stay wide right so having Milner in Jan would give Gabby some competition and MON some options if he dcides to resort to 4-3-3. Will another striker or two to supplement Baros and Angel be MONs first port of call come the new year??? I may be in dreamland and I know its been discussed before but would a squad forward line of Baros, Angel, Klose and Saviola be pleasing for all fans if not who would you change and why?
  18. I was reading the Gossip Column and Spurs are 'linked' to be bidding 10m for Joe Cole in Jan...is this realistic and if so, can we jump in there instead particularly if we are above the Spuds in Jan, would chelsea allow to have Joe Cole, Wright Phillips and Wayne Bridge particularly after yesterday?
  19. its been said before but why not bring milner and swp? milner is versatile so could play left side ...i would say randy would have to spend 12mil all togeher for these two and they would both seriously improve the squad. this just leave a striker whoever it is may be in a swap for baros (klose, pizzaro, kuranyi, santa cruz), holding midfielder (appiah, borowski, pedretti) and a right back (cicinho, young, salihamidzic) i would say an overall outlay from randy of about 25mil but i dont think there is a budget for MON definately a case of targets and prices!!!
  20. joaquin unfortunately signed for valencia in the summer for about 18mil quid but i like your ambition i think we should keep the system, and get players to play in that system, not get players and then change the system a la chelsea!!! btw i think tim borowski from Werder Bremen would be a great signing and i distinctly remember MON talking him up on BBC during the World Cup
  21. yes very fun and im glad theres a thread about it!!!! new right back ay?? luke young? maybe or cicinho? or DIDIER AGATHE!!? i watched the celtic match yesterday against Copenhagen and Aiden McGeady lookd quality
  22. just won the league for the second time in a row, even had o'dreary and brian little praising my performance, also won the title by beating Small Heath which was nice!!! my squad is taylor and sorensen, bouma, samuel, gallas, gonzalo (villareal), mellberg, parnaby, hughes, scimeca (cardiff), zewlakow (anderlecht), barry, duff, alex (fenerbache), petrov, matuzalem (shaktar), mascherano, malbranque, simao (benfica), bojinov (fiorentina now juventus), angel, tevez, ashton, frei (rennes now dortmund) and drogba
  23. I thought I was the only one who was a successful villa gaffer...i thought my combination of telling the players their performances shouldnt drop in the second half and tell them they were superb at full time was my idea....oh well!!! i think im going to get a xbox360 now that ps3 is delayed and pro evo aint coming out for it....can anyone give me some advise???
  24. I am currently deeply immersed in the legend that is Football Manger 2006, just wondered what the best team was that people achieved in say 4 seasons? For 3 season I got into the champions league qualification and I won the FA Cup and League Cup twice each during my time at the club and even had ex manager David O'Leary praise me when we picked up our first FA Cup for a while!!!!! I had a villa team consisting of Fernando Torres, Saviola, Wes Sneijder, Johnny Heitinga, Jermaine Defoe and Leo Messi plus many other world quality players. The revolution at VP started when Gavin McCann attracted a bid from Chelski of £30M! obviously this was accepted, thing was, shortly after Ol' MoneyBags Abramovich decided to offer me £22M for Gareth Barry, £24M for DjembaDjemba and £27 for wait for it..........Berson!!! That was all in the space of the first full summer transfer window (2006) I play a 4-5-1/4-3-3 sytem with 2 players sitting in front of the back four, and these players regularly get 8 or 9. My new game I am currently top after 18 games without losing a game, am 8 points clear of ManUre and I won the league last year, only losing once!!! My current team for this season is ........................taylor........................... hughes.......mellberg......bouma......gallas ..........macherano.....barton.................... simao............matuzalem...............duff .......................angel............................. bench sorensen barry malbranque tevez gabby With a cv like this could I be the best Villa fan at FM2006 of all time..discuss! One last thing....who is your best performing villa player on FM2006
