I've got the Argies and Nigeria going through from that group, even without Mikel in midfield, I think with Martins and Yakubu up front and Yobo at the back, they should have enough quality to see them through in second.

I'm pretty resigned losing milner now that man city have put in a concrete offer, confirming obviously that they really want him. Ive got it on fairly good authority from 'someone' at Bodymoor Heath that Barry will be staying, this was after the recent (since the England friendly) talks about MONs transfer targets. The big name player signing will be that of Barcelonas Thierry Henry! He will sign on an initial 1 year loan (costing £3 million pound) with Villa having the first option for a further £9 million. Henry has been at Bodymoor Heath and terms are agreed. This is due to be announced after Euro 2008.

Jez, I seem to remember a quote from MON stating in no uncertain terms that he was after SWP AND Young, The story came around the same time as the Baros to Chelsea story. SWP was happy to come on loan but MON wanted him permanantly. Maybe he will revisit it, but he definately wanted both, if anyone could find a link to back it up, it would be appreciated!

Towards the end of his time at Chelski, Eidur also played in a more withdrawn role from attack and tended to play in a midfield three with Lumpard and Makelele, cuz he has good technique and not that much pace, he did that role really well Carew......................Gabby/Luke ..................EG................................ Dont know what it is but I think David Nugent will sign for us this summer...dont get me wrong, he aint the finished article, and will cost us, but i think he is the MON mould (young, hungry, big potential) and think, in time would be a real talent. Also just watching SSN and he said he is willing to listen to any offer from a Prem club, so you never know.. I'm sure the likes of Everton and Spurs() will be linked in the paper for him but think we could get him as he knows so many Villa player from the England set up. If that did happen we would have a big chunk of the U-21 starting 11..bet Pearce would love that!!!

I dont think we have enough backup players to be honest, we have lost a few 'backup' players in McCann, Samuel etc and rumours surrounding Ridge, Davis and Moore, we need a strong squad so the winter dont take toll on the squad like last season. I think we will use our quota of loan players from the Prem (maybe SWP and Bellamy?) and maybe another from one of Europes bigger clubs!

Just wondering where he will fit into the side? is he a possible back up signing to NRC?? or is he going to be a very useful squad additon now that GM has buggered off to the trotters?

Think we should for a 8mil double swoop for him and Vincent Kompany, seen him a few times and looks a really good player!

On the subject of random signings, at the start of last season Argentina played Brazil at te Emirates and I watched Elano, who I think plays for Shaktar Donetsk and he was awesome, think he plays right wing but he seemed to be all over the place, if we dont get Wes (more like if MON wants him) then we should go for him instead

Ive got a feeling that this Sneijder thing wont go away until we sign him!!!! Think MON may play him on the left wing with Barry inside him allowing Sneijder to play more freely (very similar to Berger and Maloney did at the end of the season) Heres hoping!!!
