  1. £20,000 a week , my heart bleeds for him. I slog my guts out every week so that I can see my team play. I think I deserve a testimonial. :winkold:
  2. Keep them down. When they came up last time, their fans were just a pain in the arse. They have delusions of being a big club. I just find them immensely tiresome. If our paths never cross again , it will be too soon.
  3. I read somewhere that homosexuality was unknown amongst the people of polynesia before explorers landed there. Now it does exist. This would tend to indicate that lifestyle does play a part. Perhaps this is one of those things that cannot be pigeonholed into a single cause.
  4. If you give up on even trying to sign top players because you believe other clubs are "bigger" than us. Then in my eyes you are losers. Have faith in MON, go for it , we just might sign some of these players you think are too good for us.Jam tomorrow. no thanks, I've got more ambition than that. And we've played second fiddle to those scouse, cockney. Mancunian rocket polishers for long enough.
  5. If we are ever to compete with likes of Arsenal,Liverpool,Man. Utd, etc (Chelsea are a different kettle of fish). Then we need to be signing players they would also be interested in. The slight flaw in your plan of world domination is that if the likes of Liverpool, Man Utd and Arsenal are interested in a player then they will be going to them. Not us. The next step on the ladder is attempting to sign the level of player that the likes of Newcastle, Spurs and Bolton are after. As much as that might hurt, it's the state we find ourselves in. We need to be attracting players of the quality of Parker, Anelka and Malbranque to make the next step, as for the last five years or so, we've found ourselves on a tier below them regarding transfers. At the moment we're not competing with the likes of "Arsenal,Liverpool,Man. Utd" and we're not going to be signing their targets. Not for a long while yet. Spoken like a true loser. I watched Villa win the big one in 82. If we are ever to compete at this level again we need to act like we mean it. For Christs sake mate we're the second city of Britain ,former champions of Europe, with one of the best managers around. If we can't attract them now we never will. It seems some Villa fans just don't know how big their own club is.
  6. Jesus no. It's enough to make you weep. The big boys will be shaking in their boots.....not.
  7. I believe MON has the charisma to attract these players to VP now. We are a big club with a big manager lets start acting like it.
  8. If we are ever to compete with likes of Arsenal,Liverpool,Man. Utd, etc (Chelsea are a different kettle of fish). Then we need to be signing players they would also be interested in. Do you see them queing up for the toothy one ? I thought not, why is that do you think? Defoe and Bent have both been monitored by the big boys. These are the kind of players we need to throw of the small time mentality that Herbert imposed on us for so many years.
  9. Has any Director of a club done this before. Awesome public relations from a board who are pushing all the right buttons for me. At last we have people with vision in charge of our great club. I echo the sentiments of previous fans. Welcome general.
  10. If true this could be a good move! Is it ? I don't know too much about Aliadiere but will we compete with Arsenal by taking their cast offs ? I prefer as a general rule, to buy players who can at least hold down a first team place at the club they're already at.
  11. If the post on offer is that of " life president". Then he may be still at the club, but he'll have no more power than a cloakroom attendant. Might be fun to see him squirm every time a cheque gets signed by someone else. He could always fill in with a bit of dusting and sweeping.
  12. I don't believe O'neill would have come without assurances as to the future ownership of the club. I believe that he has been told that new owners are about to be installed, that the new owners approve of his appointment and that substantial funds will be made available. If I'm wrong, then I think O'neill will suffer the fate of all other Ellis appointments, great optimism followed by ultimate failure. I honestly believe though, that this time the old fool will go. His one hope is he will be able to claim some future credit for any success, as he appointed O'neill. I'll regard that as a small price to pay to finally see the back of the anti christ from B6. Heres to better times. Up the Villa.
  13. Everyone elses pictures are highly amusing. I was having a good laugh until I got to yours.Yours is just offensive tosh. Unfortunately you never miss a chance to ram your right wing political opinions down other peoples throats. No matter how light hearted the topic. How boring is that.
  14. You need a few history lessons. Right wing anti semitic bile like mein kampf isn't widely read in the Labour movement. However one or two unreformed Thatcherites might consider it to be a jolly good read.
  15. The whole thing is taking an eternity to resolve. However , Rothschilds don't come cheap. I think the fact that they were and are being employed by Villa would tend to confirm the truth of Ellis's desire to find a buyer. It's just in his nature to make the fans suffer for as long as possible.
  16. Hopefully villa will be sold before they put it up for sale. Then Ellis can use his new found wealth to buy blues. Now that would be funny. He was on their board in the 80s after we **** him off. But for him to go back there would be a scream!! He was also on their board in the 60's. Guess he just can't stay away from his beloved Small Heath.
  17. Heil Herbert !..........It's got a familiar ring to it.
  18. This things liable to get too divisive. We are going to need all the unity we can get if we are to have any chance of removing Herbert from office. You don't suppose this whole thread was started by him do you?
  19. "Would I cross a picket line? Yes." I pity you. Will you show the same courage when it comes to picketing Ellis out of VP Richard. Or are your brave words just that , mere words. Sounds like you are just a chocolate soldier after all. Now where's that record.
  20. I really could weep at some of the misconceptions of people today .Scargill wasn't in charge in 1974 Joe Gormley was.The miners struck in 1984 because of a secret hit list to close British pits down and import cheap coal from countries where workers were paid a pittance China , Poland etc. The Tories denied this. Who has been proved right ? All unions today have to go through a democratic ballot before ANY action can be taken. Eployers have always been far more powerful than the trade unions. And far more ruthless, throwing families on the streets, employing union busters, spying on activists, even, in countries such as Brazil, resorting to murder and bribery. Employers organizations such as the CBI and the far right Institute of directors, have sought through their influence to limit the ability of employees to support each other in their struggles.H istory shows that we have each other or we have nothing. Power in this country still by and large lies in the hands of powerful unelected corporations. Waving your silly little CV in the air as you so casually dismiss the possibility of influencing your lives through collective action, is simply a cop out by a people who never made a difference in this world and probably never will. I stood on the picket line with the miners in 1984 and was proud to do so. They were and are the finest people I ever met. I married into a Polish family. I remember my wifes family during the great struggles of solidarity when the trade union movement fought to give the Polish people a better life where they could influence their futures. Have our own people so easily forgotten the struggles our fathers fought for us. No organizations are perfect, unions and workers have made mistakes. The Nottinghamshire miners crossed the NUM picket lines , and now there is no mining industry in that area. Who was right in the long run? I suspect that many of the individuals pontificating here about unions have never actually been a member of one. They probably rely on the Daily Mail to think for them. If I ever find myself in a fix, and have to rely on my fellow worker to help me out . I'll take a miner or a car worker any day. CV.....must stand for cranial void !Up the Villa...and up the workers too!
  21. [ What a load of bollocks. Its so bollocks its not even worth arguing with. :ro ll:
  22. What is the right to strike. It is the right of ordinary people to withdraw their labour in order to fight for better working conditions and pay. Any study of social history will show that the powerful vested interests of the ruling elite have opposed almost all improvements to the lot of ordinary working people, be that the inception of the welfare state or the struggle for decent wages and conditions. None of these things were ever given on a plate to people, they had to be fought for. I suggest some of the people contributing so ignorantly to this site , take a visit to the museum at Tolpuddle and read about the brave men there who were transported to Australia simply for holding a meeting to discuss how they might better their working conditions.
  23. ANYBODY who crosses a picket line is a scab, and should hang their head in shame. Scumbag
