Ferguson wouldnt improve us - is only as good as Mccann. We always used to sign average players or stop gaps. Well its time we put some star quality into our side. There is quality out there, even if you have to go abroad for it. Im sure MON has had his scouts out all over the world since he took over looking out for them and wouldnt be surprised to see an unheard of coming in and doing well.

Welcome aboard General! Hands up who expected anything like this from the club? An actual Board member spending the time to register on a Villa fan site, to be honest knowing that people within the club do actually read boards like this amazes me since its unheard of to do such a thing round here! General, I would like to add my thanks to Mr Lerner and everyone else involved with the takeover of our fabulous club and bringing such a change in atmosphere in such a short space of time. We all look forward to many years of improvement and success. Even if a bid does go in its got be be recommended by Rothchilds, accepted by the board AND recommended to the shareholders before it actually changes anything doesnt it?

As far as I can see, all this new news from other interested parties comes from reports in the Meaning Evil who, if I remember correctly, are a paper famous for being anti-Villa. After all the good news from yesterday they just HAD to come up with something to bring us down with - its probably written into Ill Bowells contract!!!

Lets be honest guys - NOBODY on here knows anything concrete. Wide ranging speculation only raises false hopes for many, only to see supposed dates for bids come and go without anything being officially announced. Even now MON is aboard, this baord has determind this to mean DD will be out before the transfer deadline date and the club will be spending shed loads on world class player. Face facts - its isnt going to happen this year.

Who do we email to tell the club just how fecked off we are with this? Tell them we havent added to a squad that embarressed the club and its supportors throughout last season with only glimses of what they could do if they were bothered? How we are a couple of weeks away from a season with a caretaker caretaker (ffs!!!) manager in charge. How many fans still wont purchase season tickets until the club has sorted itself out starting at the top.

Just think if the Americans from today are to do with Lerner its going over old ground when there are far more presssing matters to be sorted out.

Just a thought but I doubt those Americans being shown round today were part of Lesners group. As its already been said, I doubt Mr Lerner will need to be over here if he was 15mins from closing a deal last week. Original terms (Lerners not Ellis) more or less would be on the table in a take it leave it offer. Dougie on his knees, sniffing the desk (not not cuz he pissed on it, cuz of all the £££), Stride helps him up, after wiping his bottom. Not at all, it may show the old git just how much everyone connected with Villa from us fans through to the players really hate him. Would you work around people who view you in this way or would you take a nice nestegg from selling the club and moving somewhere nobody know who you are?

How do you know the players werent even slightly encouraged to say something? On the other hand the statement just reads like its a general feeling that been building for a while and the players are almost embarressed by whats going on and are looking to embarress the club into doing something major eg spend some serious cash for get someone in who will !
