  1. true Pete but of course the lack of revenue is a direct result of the playing side isn't it ? no matter how good a cheif exec is there is a limited amount anyone can raise if the playing side is seen as boring and frankly not marketable.
  2. some interesting points Pete, We have no debts as far as we know, because we have no overdraft or loans so is that hidden ? Wages we will see but they hwere cut from 64% of turnover to 56% ish but due to greater turnover Training ground is spending the 'usual' transfer budget As I say why we put up with it, no other fans would ?
  3. well what none of us can answer is why a club with no debts and has cut the wages can't afford a new pitch and a cheap loan signing ??? Yet we are spending £8m on a training ground, imagine any other clubs fans puttimg up with that ?
  4. point is Den I don't think the takeover makes any difference to the amount of money we are broke for an unknown reason ?
  5. this is just baffling and backs up Pete's point of brinkmanship doesn't. ellis wants to sell but at a premuim the Comer's have looked at the books and won't pay the premuium Leaks from all ...... Even though niether have to issue a statement to the LSE so far would this be allowed at a bigger club ?
  6. the point is that I think they have the money but will not pay the 'Ellis' payment ....
  7. point is mate, is that you wonder if Ellis died tomorrow the premuim on the price will go down and the asking price nearer to Ranson's £47m and this will surely draw in a few bidders.
  8. It is clear that there is not a mega wealthy benfactor out there who is going to spend £50m+ on the club, the only way we can be tookover is through an investment firm ala ENIC or a consortuim. The facts are as simple as that and if anyone is going judge the next owners on whether they 'care' about the club as we do will be dissing every single approach that comes along. Unless of course you believe the fanciful Trust can somehow perusade Ellis just to simply hand over his shares
  9. well we all except that Doug in situ is going to ask for a premiuim of about 20% so when he dies the asking price could be under £50m based on the fact the land assets was always a myth.
  10. JC, I get the feeling any investors are simply waiting for Ellis to die and then get the club at a cut price.
  11. go on then .... international jet setter
  12. thats the point Lee, if nothing was happening then I think it would clear o the question is what is Ellis asking/waiting for that is delaying it ?
  13. so why not just kill the deal, why allow all the speculation if he just wanted to sty and before you say AGM and transfer window remember in the previous years he did not give a **** !!
  14. Wurzel, there is no rumour or anything but it is well known that before the Comer's were even on the scene that other people were interested in the club and it seems to me and others that maybe ellis is holding out for someone else who might either a) get him a better deal in money or somehow keep him in power. lee your last pont belongs in nother thread but what is outr average position under Ellis in the PL is it 8th ? That is a massive underperformance for a club who can attract 35,000 + averages when we don't do that well and that is all down to Ellis and above all that is the one and ONLY reason he should go, the pother reasons are jut fluff compared to that one. As I say his legacy is stabiility, not trophies, cL or excitment but stability and that is debatable, when after 10 years of PL money all we can not even afford a loan player bearing in mind we are supposed to be in NO debt.
  15. I can mention at least 12 teams bove us all of them apart from an obvious 4 teams have not had any kind of constant 'success' yet still have mbitions to be top 6, what do we have, a club and a set of fans obviously happy for 'stability'. Again when Ellis states his legacy is a so called stable club, which can not afford a loan signing nor a new pitch , then the majority of fans get the club they deserve.
  16. thing is Lee, that the standard excuse which you have just said along with John Lewrill about top 6 hardly being a decent benchmark does not hold water. Was Chelsea a regular top 6 team, or Bolton, or Boro, or Spurs, or many teams. We are a big big club and yet a portion of fans seem settled for the Ellis legacy of so called stabilty and mid table medricority and whilst tht is the case in modern football, the only way is down !!
  17. maybe but if Pompey is worth £60m then surely £64m with some land is actually a good deal, and the Comer's can make money easy within a year if they exploited outr assets correctly. If they want our land for profits then simply someone lied to them, though myself and many others on here could have told them the truth for a small consultancy fee ....
  18. Malc, interesting reading of it, but if Ellis wanted NOT to sell, why all the pretence, why not simply say he WILL NOT sell, why not just reject any advances. Maybe he was 'forced' to put the club up for sale, but everytime I have seen him on TV or heard reports of him he looks and sounds very unwelll. Do you believe Ellis with his track record would simply dismiss the offers straight away ?
  19. your right PP, the club is in trouble a coupel of wins at xmas may hide the problem but we want to be challenging for top 6 regaulry and that is his singular failure. The fact before the Arse game all Ellis could claim for his lagcy is 'stability' (and that is very debatable) just about summed up the word removed.
  20. he has not said he is staying he has not said he won't sell he has nto said anything about the future
  21. it is what he has not said that is important ...
  22. exactly Ali, he will sell but we have to be patient and after the Xmas games it is clear we won't get relegated so there is now no rush for the extra investment in the club. He will wait now but he will sell, he has indicated as much.
  23. AVFC, just one thing, ellis has never denied he wants to sell, and if half a share at Pompey is worth £30m then surely £64m for the whole of villa is a bargain ...
  24. Gareth, was I blind but wasn't a stock market released about AVIl ? wasn't Neville 'directly' quoted unlike Ellis ?
  25. IF the Comer's were in it for the land I could have saved them a lot of time and effort by telling them the land was worth not a lot ..... But this is all spin by ellis, no quotes and by a favourable journo .....
